1 Paulus, durch Gottes Willen berufener Apostel Christi Jesu, und der Bruder Sosthenes	1 Paul, called as an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God; and Sosthenes, a brother:
2 an die Kirche Gottes, die in Korinth ist, - an die Geheiligten in Christus Jesus, berufen als Heilige mit allen, die den Namen Jesu Christi, unseres Herrn, überall anrufen, bei ihnen und bei uns.	2 to the Church of God which is at Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints with all who are invoking the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place of theirs and of ours.
3 Gnade sei mit euch und Friede von Gott, unserem Vater, und dem Herrn Jesus Christus.	3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Ich danke Gott jederzeit euretwegen für die Gnade Gottes, die euch in Christus Jesus geschenkt wurde,	4 I give thanks to my God continuously for you because of the grace of God that has been given to you in Christ Jesus.
5 dass ihr an allem reich geworden seid in ihm, an aller Rede und aller Erkenntnis.	5 By that grace, in all things, you have become wealthy in him, in every word and in all knowledge.
6 Denn das Zeugnis über Christus wurde bei euch gefestigt,	6 And so, the testimony of Christ has been strengthened in you.
7 sodass euch keine Gnadengabe fehlt, während ihr auf die Offenbarung Jesu Christi, unseres Herrn, wartet.	7 In this way, nothing is lacking to you in any grace, as you await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
8 Er wird euch auch festigen bis ans Ende, sodass ihr schuldlos dasteht am Tag Jesu, unseres Herrn.	8 And he, too, will strengthen you, even until the end, without guilt, until the day of the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Treu ist Gott, durch den ihr berufen worden seid zur Gemeinschaft mit seinem Sohn Jesus Christus, unserem Herrn.	9 God is faithful. Through him, you have been called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 Ich ermahne euch aber, Brüder, im Namen Jesu Christi, unseres Herrn: Seid alle einmütig und duldet keine Spaltungen unter euch; seid ganz eines Sinnes und einer Meinung.	10 And so, I beg you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that every one of you speak in the same way, and that there be no schisms among you. So may you become perfect, with the same mind and with the same judgment.
11 Es wurde mir nämlich, meine Brüder, von den Leuten der Chloë berichtet, dass es Zank und Streit unter euch gibt.	11 For it has been indicated to me, about you, my brothers, by those who are with Chloes, that there are contentions among you.
12 Ich meine damit, dass jeder von euch etwas anderes sagt: Ich halte zu Paulus - ich zu Apollos - ich zu Kephas - ich zu Christus.	12 Now I say this because each of you is saying: “Certainly, I am of Paul;” “But I am of Apollo;” “Truly, I am of Cephas;” as well as: “I am of Christ.”
13 Ist denn Christus zerteilt? Wurde etwa Paulus für euch gekreuzigt? Oder seid ihr auf den Namen des Paulus getauft worden?	13 Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
14 Ich danke Gott, dass ich niemand von euch getauft habe, außer Krispus und Gaius,	14 I give thanks to God that I have baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius,
15 sodass keiner sagen kann, ihr seiet auf meinen Namen getauft worden.	15 lest anyone say that you have been baptized in my name.
16 Ich habe allerdings auch die Familie des Stephanas getauft. Ob ich sonst noch jemand getauft habe, weiß ich nicht mehr.	16 And I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Other than these, I do not recall if I baptized any others.
17 Denn Christus hat mich nicht gesandt zu taufen, sondern das Evangelium zu verkünden, aber nicht mit gewandten und klugen Worten, damit das Kreuz Christi nicht um seine Kraft gebracht wird.	17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to evangelize: not through the wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ become empty.
18 Denn das Wort vom Kreuz ist denen, die verloren gehen, Torheit; uns aber, die gerettet werden, ist es Gottes Kraft.	18 For the Word of the Cross is certainly foolishness to those who are perishing. But to those who have been saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God.
19 Es heißt nämlich in der Schrift: Ich lasse die Weisheit der Weisen vergehen und die Klugheit der Klugen verschwinden.	19 For it has been written: “I will perish the wisdom of the wise, and I will reject the discernment of the prudent.”
20 Wo ist ein Weiser? Wo ein Schriftgelehrter? Wo ein Wortführer in dieser Welt? Hat Gott nicht die Weisheit der Welt als Torheit entlarvt?	20 Where are the wise? Where are the scribes? Where are the truth-seekers of this age? Has not God made the wisdom of this world into foolishness?
21 Denn da die Welt angesichts der Weisheit Gottes auf dem Weg ihrer Weisheit Gott nicht erkannte, beschloss Gott, alle, die glauben, durch die Torheit der Verkündigung zu retten.	21 For the world did not know God through wisdom, and so, in the wisdom of God, it pleased God to accomplish the salvation of believers, through the foolishness of our preaching.
22 Die Juden fordern Zeichen, die Griechen suchen Weisheit.	22 For the Jews ask for signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom.
23 Wir dagegen verkündigen Christus als den Gekreuzigten: für Juden ein empörendes Ärgernis, für Heiden eine Torheit,	23 But we are preaching Christ crucified. Certainly, to the Jews, this is a scandal, and to the Gentiles, this is foolishness.
24 für die Berufenen aber, Juden wie Griechen, Christus, Gottes Kraft und Gottes Weisheit.	24 But to those who have been called, Jews as well as Greeks, the Christ is the virtue of God and the wisdom of God.
25 Denn das Törichte an Gott ist weiser als die Menschen und das Schwache an Gott ist stärker als die Menschen.	25 For what is foolishness to God is considered wise by men, and that which is weakness to God is considered strong by men.
26 Seht doch auf eure Berufung, Brüder! Da sind nicht viele Weise im irdischen Sinn, nicht viele Mächtige, nicht viele Vornehme,	26 So take care of your vocation, brothers. For not many are wise according to the flesh, not many are powerful, not many are noble.
27 sondern das Törichte in der Welt hat Gott erwählt, um die Weisen zuschanden zu machen, und das Schwache in der Welt hat Gott erwählt, um das Starke zuschanden zu machen.	27 But God has chosen the foolish of the world, so that he may confound the wise. And God has chosen the weak of the world, so that he may confound the strong.
28 Und das Niedrige in der Welt und das Verachtete hat Gott erwählt: das, was nichts ist, um das, was etwas ist, zu vernichten,	28 And God has chosen the ignoble and contemptible of the world, those who are nothing, so that he may reduce to nothing those who are something.
29 damit kein Mensch sich rühmen kann vor Gott.	29 So then, nothing that is of the flesh should glory in his sight.
30 Von ihm her seid ihr in Christus Jesus, den Gott für uns zur Weisheit gemacht hat, zur Gerechtigkeit, Heiligung und Erlösung.	30 But you are of him in Christ Jesus, who was made by God to be our wisdom and justice and sanctification and redemption.
31 Wer sich also rühmen will, der rühme sich des Herrn; so heißt es schon in der Schrift.	31 And so, in the same way, it was written: “Whoever glories, should glory in the Lord.”
