1 Wenn in dem Land, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir gibt, damit du es in Besitz nimmst, einer auf freiem Feld ermordet aufgefunden wird und man nicht weiß, wer ihn erschlagen hat,	1 If one be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath slain him:
2 dann sollen deine Ältesten und Richter hinausgehen und feststellen, wie weit die Städte ringsum von dem Ermordeten entfernt sind.	2 Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which are round about him that is slain:
3 Wenn feststeht, welche Stadt dem Ermordeten am nächsten liegt, sollen die Ältesten dieser Stadt eine junge Kuh aussuchen, die noch nicht zur Arbeit verwendet worden ist, das heißt, die noch nicht unter dem Joch gegangen ist.	3 And it shall be, that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heifer, which hath not been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the yoke;
4 Die Ältesten dieser Stadt sollen die Kuh in ein ausgetrocknetes Bachtal bringen, wo weder geackert noch gesät wird. Dort sollen sie im Bachbett der Kuh das Genick brechen.	4 And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer's neck there in the valley:
5 Dann sollen die Priester, die Nachkommen Levis, herantreten; denn sie hat der Herr, dein Gott, dazu ausgewählt, vor ihm Dienst zu tun und im Namen des Herrn den Segen zu sprechen. Nach ihrem Spruch soll jeder Rechtsstreit und jeder Fall von Körperverletzung entschieden werden.	5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried:
6 Alle Ältesten dieser Stadt sollen, weil sie dem Ermordeten am nächsten sind, über der Kuh, der im Bachbett das Genick gebrochen wurde, ihre Hände waschen.	6 And all the elders of that city, that are next unto the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley:
7 Sie sollen feierlich sagen: Unsere Hände haben dieses Blut nicht vergossen und unsere Augen haben nichts gesehen.	7 And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.
8 Deck es zu, zum Schutz deines Volkes Israel, das du freigekauft hast, Herr, und lass kein unschuldig vergossenes Blut in der Mitte deines Volkes Israel bleiben. Dann ist das Blut zu ihrem Schutz zugedeckt.	8 Be merciful, O LORD, unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto thy people of Israel's charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them.
9 Du wirst das unschuldig vergossene Blut aus deiner Mitte wegschaffen können, wenn du tust, was in den Augen des Herrn richtig ist.	9 So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.
10 Wenn du zum Kampf gegen deine Feinde ausziehst und der Herr, dein Gott, sie alle in deine Gewalt gibt, wenn du dabei Gefangene machst	10 When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive,
11 und unter den Gefangenen eine Frau von schöner Gestalt erblickst, wenn sie dein Herz gewinnt und du sie heiraten möchtest,	11 And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife;
12 dann sollst du sie in dein Haus bringen und sie soll sich den Kopf scheren, ihre Nägel kürzen	12 Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house; and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails;
13 und die Gefangenenkleidung ablegen. Sie soll in deinem Haus wohnen und einen Monat lang ihren Vater und ihre Mutter beweinen. Danach darfst du mit ihr Verkehr haben, du darfst ihr Mann werden und sie deine Frau.	13 And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.
14 Wenn sie dir aber nicht mehr gefällt, darfst du sie entlassen, und sie darf tun, was sie will. Auf keinen Fall darfst du sie für Silber verkaufen. Auch darfst du sie nicht als Sklavin kennzeichnen. Denn du hast sie dir gefügig gemacht.	14 And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.
15 Wenn ein Mann zwei Frauen hat, eine, die er liebt, und eine, die er nicht liebt, und wenn beide ihm Söhne gebären, die geliebte wie die ungeliebte, und der erstgeborene Sohn von der ungeliebten stammt,	15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:
16 dann darf er, wenn er sein Erbe unter seine Söhne verteilt, den Sohn der geliebten Frau nicht als Erstgeborenen behandeln und damit gegen das Recht des wirklichen Erstgeborenen, des Sohnes der ungeliebten Frau, verstoßen.	16 Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn:
17 Vielmehr soll er den Erstgeborenen, den Sohn der Ungeliebten, anerkennen, indem er ihm von allem, was er besitzt, den doppelten Anteil gibt. Ihn hat er zuerst gezeugt, er besitzt das Erstgeborenenrecht.	17 But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.
18 Wenn ein Mann einen störrischen und widerspenstigen Sohn hat, der nicht auf die Stimme seines Vaters und seiner Mutter hört, und wenn sie ihn züchtigen und er trotzdem nicht auf sie hört,	18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:
19 dann sollen Vater und Mutter ihn packen, vor die Ältesten der Stadt und die Torversammlung des Ortes führen	19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;
20 und zu den Ältesten der Stadt sagen: Unser Sohn hier ist störrisch und widerspenstig, er hört nicht auf unsere Stimme, er ist ein Verschwender und Trinker.	20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.
21 Dann sollen alle Männer der Stadt ihn steinigen und er soll sterben. Du sollst das Böse aus deiner Mitte wegschaffen. Ganz Israel soll davon hören, damit sie sich fürchten.	21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
22 Wenn jemand ein Verbrechen begangen hat, auf das die Todesstrafe steht, wenn er hingerichtet wird und du den Toten an einen Pfahl hängst,	22 And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:
23 dann soll die Leiche nicht über Nacht am Pfahl hängen bleiben, sondern du sollst ihn noch am gleichen Tag begraben; denn ein Gehenkter ist ein von Gott Verfluchter. Du sollst das Land nicht unrein werden lassen, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir als Erbbesitz gibt.	23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
