1 In jedem siebten Jahr sollst du die Ackerbrache einhalten.	1 At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release.
2 Und so lautet eine Bestimmung für die Brache: Jeder Gläubiger soll den Teil seines Vermögens, den er einem andern unter Personalhaftung als Darlehen gegeben hat, brachliegen lassen. Er soll gegen den andern, falls dieser sein Bruder ist, nicht mit Zwang vorgehen; denn er hat die Brache für den Herrn verkündet.	2 And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it;he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the LORD's release.
3 Gegen einen Ausländer darfst du mit Zwang vorgehen. Wenn es sich aber um deinen Bruder handelt, dann lass deinen Vermögensteil brachliegen!	3 Of a foreigner thou mayest exact it again: but that which is thine with thy brother thine hand shall release;
4 Doch eigentlich sollte es bei dir gar keine Armen geben; denn der Herr wird dich reich segnen in dem Land, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir als Erbbesitz gibt und das du in Besitz nimmst,	4 Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the LORD shall greatly bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it:
5 wenn du auf die Stimme des Herrn, deines Gottes, hörst, auf dieses Gebot, auf das ich dich heute verpflichte, achtest und es hältst.	5 Only if thou carefully hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all these commandments which I command thee this day.
6 Wenn der Herr, dein Gott, dich segnet, wie er es dir zugesagt hat, dann kannst du vielen Völkern gegen Pfand leihen, du selbst aber brauchst nichts zu verpfänden; du wirst über viele Völker Gewalt haben, über dich aber werden sie keine Gewalt haben.	6 For the LORD thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations,but they shall not reign over thee.
7 Wenn bei dir ein Armer lebt, irgendeiner deiner Brüder in irgendeinem deiner Stadtbereiche in dem Land, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir gibt, dann sollst du nicht hartherzig sein und sollst deinem armen Bruder deine Hand nicht verschließen.	7 If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
8 Du sollst ihm deine Hand öffnen und ihm gegen Pfand leihen, was der Not, die ihn bedrückt, abhilft.	8 But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.
9 Nimm dich in Acht, dass du nicht in niederträchtigem Herzen den Gedanken hegst: Bald kommt das siebte Jahr, das Brachjahr!, und deinen armen Bruder böse ansiehst und ihm nichts gibst, sodass er den Herrn gegen dich anruft und Strafe für diese Sünde über dich kommt.	9 Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin unto thee.
10 Du sollst ihm etwas geben, und wenn du ihm gibst, soll auch dein Herz nicht böse darüber sein; denn wegen dieser Tat wird dich der Herr, dein Gott, segnen in allem, was du arbeitest, und in allem, was deine Hände schaffen.	10 Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.
11 Die Armen werden niemals ganz aus deinem Land verschwinden. Darum mache ich dir zur Pflicht: Du sollst deinem Not leidenden und armen Bruder, der in deinem Land lebt, deine Hand öffnen.	11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
12 Wenn dein Bruder, ein Hebräer - oder auch eine Hebräerin -, sich dir verkauft, soll er dir sechs Jahre als Sklave dienen. Im siebten Jahr sollst du ihn als freien Mann entlassen.	12 And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman , be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.
13 Und wenn du ihn als freien Mann entlässt, sollst du ihn nicht mit leeren Händen entlassen.	13 And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty:
14 Du sollst ihm von deinen Schafen und Ziegen, von deiner Tenne und von deiner Kelter so viel mitgeben, wie er tragen kann. Wie der Herr, dein Gott, dich gesegnet hat, so sollst du ihn bedenken.	14 Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the LORD thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.
15 Denk daran: Als du in Ägypten Sklave warst, hat der Herr, dein Gott, dich freigekauft. Darum verpflichte ich dich heute auf dieses Gebot.	15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day.
16 Wenn dieser Sklave dir aber erklärt: Ich will nicht von dir freigelassen werden - denn er hat dich und deine Familie lieb gewonnen, weil es ihm bei dir gut ging -,	16 And it shall be, if he say unto thee, I will not go away from thee; because he loveth thee and thine house, because he is well with thee;
17 so nimm einen Pfriem und stich ihn durch sein Ohr in die Tür: Dann ist er dein Sklave für immer. Bei einer Sklavin sollst du das Gleiche tun.	17 Then thou shalt take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise.
18 Halt es nicht für eine Härte, wenn du ihn als freien Mann entlassen musst; denn was er in den sechs Jahren für dich erarbeitet hat, entspricht dem, was du einem Tagelöhner als Lohn hättest zahlen müssen. Dann wird der Herr, dein Gott, dich in allem segnen, was du tust.	18 It shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been worth a double hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all that thou doest.
19 Alle männlichen Erstlinge, die unter deinen Rindern, Schafen und Ziegen geboren werden, sollst du dem Herrn, deinem Gott, weihen. Mit einem Erstlingsstier darfst du nicht arbeiten und ein Erstlingsschaf darfst du nicht scheren.	19 All the firstling males that come of thy herd and of thy flock thou shalt sanctify unto the LORD thy God: thou shalt do no work with the firstling of thy bullock, nor shear the firstling of thy sheep.
20 Jahr für Jahr sollst du die Erstlinge vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, an der Stätte, die der Herr auswählt, essen, du und deine Familie.	20 Thou shalt eat it before the LORD thy God year by year in the place which the LORD shall choose, thou and thy household.
21 Doch wenn ein Tier einen Fehler hat, wenn es hinkt oder blind ist, wenn es irgendeinen Makel hat, sollst du es nicht für den Herrn, deinen Gott, schlachten.	21 And if there be any blemish therein, as if it be lame, or blind, or have any ill blemish, thou shalt not sacrifice it unto the LORD thy God.
22 In deinen Stadtbereichen sollst du es verzehren; der Reine und der Unreine können es gemeinsam essen, wie bei Gazelle und Damhirsch.	22 Thou shalt eat it within thy gates: the unclean and the clean person shall eat it alike, as the roebuck, and as the hart.
23 Nur das Blut sollst du nicht genießen, sondern wie Wasser auf die Erde schütten.	23 Only thou shalt not eat the blood thereof; thou shalt pour it upon the ground as water.
