1 Die Pharisäer und einige Schriftgelehrte, die aus Jerusalem gekommen waren, hielten sich bei Jesus auf.	1 Now when the Pharisees gathered together to him, with some of the scribes, who had come from Jerusalem,
2 Sie sahen, dass einige seiner Jünger ihr Brot mit unreinen, das heißt mit ungewaschenen Händen aßen.	2 they saw that some of his disciples ate with hands defiled, that is, unwashed.
3 Die Pharisäer essen nämlich wie alle Juden nur, wenn sie vorher mit einer Hand voll Wasser die Hände gewaschen haben, wie es die Überlieferung der Alten vorschreibt.	3 (For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, do not eat unless they wash their hands, observing the tradition of the elders;
4 Auch wenn sie vom Markt kommen, essen sie nicht, ohne sich vorher zu waschen. Noch viele andere überlieferte Vorschriften halten sie ein, wie das Abspülen von Bechern, Krügen und Kesseln.	4 and when they come from the market place, they do not eat unless they purify themselves; and there are many other traditions which they observe, the washing of cups and pots and vessels of bronze. )
5 Die Pharisäer und die Schriftgelehrten fragten ihn also: Warum halten sich deine Jünger nicht an die Überlieferung der Alten, sondern essen ihr Brot mit unreinen Händen?	5 And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why do your disciples not live according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with hands defiled?"
6 Er antwortete ihnen: Der Prophet Jesaja hatte Recht mit dem, was er über euch Heuchler sagte: Dieses Volk ehrt mich mit den Lippen, sein Herz aber ist weit weg von mir.	6 And he said to them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, 'This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;
7 Es ist sinnlos, wie sie mich verehren; was sie lehren, sind Satzungen von Menschen.	7 in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.'
8 Ihr gebt Gottes Gebot preis und haltet euch an die Überlieferung der Menschen.	8 You leave the commandment of God, and hold fast the tradition of men."
9 Und weiter sagte Jesus: Sehr geschickt setzt ihr Gottes Gebot außer Kraft und haltet euch an eure eigene Überlieferung.	9 And he said to them, "You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God, in order to keep your tradition!
10 Mose hat zum Beispiel gesagt: Ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter!, und: Wer Vater oder Mutter verflucht, soll mit dem Tod bestraft werden.	10 For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him surely die';
11 Ihr aber lehrt: Es ist erlaubt, dass einer zu seinem Vater oder seiner Mutter sagt: Was ich dir schulde, ist Korbín, das heißt: eine Opfergabe.	11 but you say, 'If a man tells his father or his mother, What you would have gained from me is Corban' (that is, given to God) --
12 Damit hindert ihr ihn daran, noch etwas für Vater oder Mutter zu tun.	12 then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother,
13 So setzt ihr durch eure eigene Überlieferung Gottes Wort außer Kraft. Und ähnlich handelt ihr in vielen Fällen.	13 thus making void the word of God through your tradition which you hand on. And many such things you do."
14 Dann rief er die Leute wieder zu sich und sagte: Hört mir alle zu und begreift, was ich sage:	14 And he called the people to him again, and said to them, "Hear me, all of you, and understand:
15 Nichts, was von außen in den Menschen hineinkommt, kann ihn unrein machen, sondern was aus dem Menschen herauskommt, das macht ihn unrein.	15 there is nothing outside a man which by going into him can defile him; but the things which come out of a man are what defile him."

17 Er verließ die Menge und ging in ein Haus. Da fragten ihn seine Jünger nach dem Sinn dieses rätselhaften Wortes.	17 And when he had entered the house, and left the people, his disciples asked him about the parable.
18 Er antwortete ihnen: Begreift auch ihr nicht? Seht ihr nicht ein, dass das, was von außen in den Menschen hineinkommt, ihn nicht unrein machen kann?	18 And he said to them, "Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a man from outside cannot defile him,
19 Denn es gelangt ja nicht in sein Herz, sondern in den Magen und wird wieder ausgeschieden. Damit erklärte Jesus alle Speisen für rein.	19 since it enters, not his heart but his stomach, and so passes on?" (Thus he declared all foods clean.)
20 Weiter sagte er: Was aus dem Menschen herauskommt, das macht ihn unrein.	20 And he said, "What comes out of a man is what defiles a man.
21 Denn von innen, aus dem Herzen der Menschen, kommen die bösen Gedanken, Unzucht, Diebstahl, Mord,	21 For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, fornication, theft, murder, adultery,
22 Ehebruch, Habgier, Bosheit, Hinterlist, Ausschweifung, Neid, Verleumdung, Hochmut und Unvernunft.	22 coveting, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.
23 All dieses Böse kommt von innen und macht den Menschen unrein.	23 All these evil things come from within, and they defile a man."
24 Jesus brach auf und zog von dort in das Gebiet von Tyrus. Er ging in ein Haus, wollte aber, dass niemand davon erfuhr; doch es konnte nicht verborgen bleiben.	24 And from there he arose and went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered a house, and would not have any one know it; yet he could not be hid.
25 Eine Frau, deren Tochter von einem unreinen Geist besessen war, hörte von ihm; sie kam sogleich herbei und fiel ihm zu Füßen.	25 But immediately a woman, whose little daughter was possessed by an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell down at his feet.
26 Die Frau, von Geburt Syrophönizierin, war eine Heidin. Sie bat ihn, aus ihrer Tochter den Dämon auszutreiben.	26 Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by birth. And she begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter.
27 Da sagte er zu ihr: Lasst zuerst die Kinder satt werden; denn es ist nicht recht, das Brot den Kindern wegzunehmen und den Hunden vorzuwerfen.	27 And he said to her, "Let the children first be fed, for it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."
28 Sie erwiderte ihm: Ja, du hast recht, Herr! Aber auch für die Hunde unter dem Tisch fällt etwas von dem Brot ab, das die Kinder essen.	28 But she answered him, "Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs."
29 Er antwortete ihr: Weil du das gesagt hast, sage ich dir: Geh nach Hause, der Dämon hat deine Tochter verlassen.	29 And he said to her, "For this saying you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter."
30 Und als sie nach Hause kam, fand sie das Kind auf dem Bett liegen und sah, dass der Dämon es verlassen hatte.	30 And she went home, and found the child lying in bed, and the demon gone.
31 Jesus verließ das Gebiet von Tyrus wieder und kam über Sidon an den See von Galiläa, mitten in das Gebiet der Dekapolis.	31 Then he returned from the region of Tyre, and went through Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, through the region of the Decapolis.
32 Da brachte man einen Taubstummen zu Jesus und bat ihn, er möge ihn berühren.	32 And they brought to him a man who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech; and they besought him to lay his hand upon him.
33 Er nahm ihn beiseite, von der Menge weg, legte ihm die Finger in die Ohren und berührte dann die Zunge des Mannes mit Speichel;	33 And taking him aside from the multitude privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and he spat and touched his tongue;
34 danach blickte er zum Himmel auf, seufzte und sagte zu dem Taubstummen: Effata!, das heißt: Öffne dich!	34 and looking up to heaven, he sighed, and said to him, "Ephphatha," that is, "Be opened."
35 Sogleich öffneten sich seine Ohren, seine Zunge wurde von ihrer Fessel befreit und er konnte richtig reden.	35 And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly.
36 Jesus verbot ihnen, jemand davon zu erzählen. Doch je mehr er es ihnen verbot, desto mehr machten sie es bekannt.	36 And he charged them to tell no one; but the more he charged them, the more zealously they proclaimed it.
37 Außer sich vor Staunen sagten sie: Er hat alles gut gemacht; er macht, dass die Tauben hören und die Stummen sprechen.	37 And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well; he even makes the deaf hear and the dumb speak."
