1 Dann sprach Gott alle diese Worte:	1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 Ich bin Jahwe, dein Gott, der dich aus Ägypten geführt hat, aus dem Sklavenhaus.	2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Du sollst neben mir keine anderen Götter haben.	3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Du sollst dir kein Gottesbild machen und keine Darstellung von irgendetwas am Himmel droben, auf der Erde unten oder im Wasser unter der Erde.	4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5 Du sollst dich nicht vor anderen Göttern niederwerfen und dich nicht verpflichten, ihnen zu dienen. Denn ich, der Herr, dein Gott, bin ein eifersüchtiger Gott: Bei denen, die mir Feind sind, verfolge ich die Schuld der Väter an den Söhnen, an der dritten und vierten Generation;	5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 bei denen, die mich lieben und auf meine Gebote achten, erweise ich Tausenden meine Huld.	6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Du sollst den Namen des Herrn, deines Gottes, nicht missbrauchen; denn der Herr lässt den nicht ungestraft, der seinen Namen missbraucht.	7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Gedenke des Sabbats: Halte ihn heilig!	8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Sechs Tage darfst du schaffen und jede Arbeit tun.	9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 Der siebte Tag ist ein Ruhetag, dem Herrn, deinem Gott, geweiht. An ihm darfst du keine Arbeit tun: du, dein Sohn und deine Tochter, dein Sklave und deine Sklavin, dein Vieh und der Fremde, der in deinen Stadtbereichen Wohnrecht hat.	10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 Denn in sechs Tagen hat der Herr Himmel, Erde und Meer gemacht und alles, was dazugehört; am siebten Tag ruhte er. Darum hat der Herr den Sabbattag gesegnet und ihn für heilig erklärt.	11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter, damit du lange lebst in dem Land, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir gibt.	12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
13 Du sollst nicht morden.	13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Du sollst nicht die Ehe brechen.	14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Du sollst nicht stehlen.	15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Du sollst nicht falsch gegen deinen Nächsten aussagen.	16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Du sollst nicht nach dem Haus deines Nächsten verlangen. Du sollst nicht nach der Frau deines Nächsten verlangen, nach seinem Sklaven oder seiner Sklavin, seinem Rind oder seinem Esel oder nach irgendetwas, das deinem Nächsten gehört.	17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
18 Das ganze Volk erlebte, wie es donnerte und blitzte, wie Hörner erklangen und der Berg rauchte. Da bekam das Volk Angst, es zitterte und hielt sich in der Ferne.	18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.
19 Sie sagten zu Mose: Rede du mit uns, dann wollen wir hören. Gott soll nicht mit uns reden, sonst sterben wir.	19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
20 Da sagte Mose zum Volk: Fürchtet euch nicht! Gott ist gekommen, um euch auf die Probe zu stellen. Die Furcht vor ihm soll über euch kommen, damit ihr nicht sündigt.	20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
21 Das Volk hielt sich in der Ferne und Mose näherte sich der dunklen Wolke, in der Gott war.	21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.
22 Der Herr sprach zu Mose: Sag den Israeliten: Ihr habt gesehen, dass ich vom Himmel her mit euch geredet habe.	22 And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.
23 Ihr sollt euch neben mir keine Götter aus Silber machen, auch Götter aus Gold sollt ihr euch nicht machen.	23 Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.
24 Du sollst mir einen Altar aus Erde errichten und darauf deine Schafe, Ziegen und Rinder als Brandopfer und Heilsopfer schlachten. An jedem Ort, an dem ich meinem Namen ein Gedächtnis stifte, will ich zu dir kommen und dich segnen.	24 An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.
25 Wenn du mir einen Altar aus Steinen errichtest, so sollst du ihn nicht aus behauenen Quadern bauen. Du entweihst ihn, wenn du mit einem Meißel daran arbeitest.	25 And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.
26 Du sollst nicht auf Stufen zu meinem Altar hinaufsteigen, damit deine Blöße dabei nicht zum Vorschein komme.	26 Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.
