1 Die Königin von Saba hörte vom Ruf Salomos und kam mit sehr großem Gefolge, mit Kamelen, die Balsam, eine Menge Gold und Edelsteine trugen, nach Jerusalem, um ihn mit Rätselfragen auf die Probe zu stellen. Sie trat bei Salomo ein und redete mit ihm über alles, was sie sich vorgenommen hatte.	1 Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon she came to Jerusalem to test him with hard questions, having a very great retinue and camels bearing spices and very much gold and precious stones. When she came to Solomon, she told him all that was on her mind.
2 Salomo gab ihr Antwort auf alle Fragen. Es gab nichts, was ihm verborgen war und was er ihr nicht hätte sagen können.	2 And Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing hidden from Solomon which he could not explain to her.
3 Als nun die Königin von Saba die Weisheit Salomos erkannte, als sie den Palast sah, den er gebaut hatte,	3 And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built,
4 die Speisen auf seiner Tafel, die Sitzplätze seiner Beamten, das Aufwarten seiner Diener und ihre Gewänder, seine Mundschenken und ihre Gewänder, sein Opfer, das er im Haus des Herrn darbrachte, da stockte ihr der Atem.	4 the food of his table, the seating of his officials, and the attendance of his servants, and their clothing, his cupbearers, and their clothing, and his burnt offerings which he offered at the house of the LORD, there was no more spirit in her.
5 Sie sagte zum König: Was ich in meinem Land über dich und deine Weisheit gehört habe, ist wirklich wahr.	5 And she said to the king, "The report was true which I heard in my own land of your affairs and of your wisdom,
6 Ich wollte es nicht glauben, bis ich nun selbst gekommen bin und es mit eigenen Augen gesehen habe. Und wahrhaftig, nicht einmal die Hälfte hat man mir berichtet von der Größe deiner Weisheit. Du übertriffst alles, was ich gehört habe.	6 but I did not believe the reports until I came and my own eyes had seen it; and behold, half the greatness of your wisdom was not told me; you surpass the report which I heard.
7 Glücklich sind deine Männer und glücklich diese deine Diener, die allezeit vor dir stehen und deine Weisheit hören.	7 Happy are your wives! Happy are these your servants, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom!
8 Gepriesen sei Jahwe, dein Gott, der an dir Gefallen gefunden und dich auf seinen Thron gesetzt hat, damit du König bist für Jahwe, deinen Gott. Weil dein Gott Israel liebt und ihm ewigen Bestand verleihen will, hat er dich zum König bestellt, damit du Recht und Gerechtigkeit übst.	8 Blessed be the LORD your God, who has delighted in you and set you on his throne as king for the LORD your God! Because your God loved Israel and would establish them for ever, he has made you king over them, that you may execute justice and righteousness."
9 Sie gab dem König hundertzwanzig Talente Gold, dazu eine sehr große Menge Balsam und Edelsteine. Balsam, wie ihn die Königin von Saba dem König Salomo schenkte, gab es nicht wieder.	9 Then she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and a very great quantity of spices, and precious stones: there were no spices such as those which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.
10 Auch die Leute Hirams und die Leute Salomos, die Gold aus Ofir holten, brachten Algummimholz und Edelsteine.	10 Moreover the servants of Huram and the servants of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, brought algum wood and precious stones.
11 Der König ließ aus dem Algummimholz Schnitzarbeiten für das Haus des Herrn und den königlichen Palast sowie Zithern und Harfen für die Sänger anfertigen. Dergleichen hatte man vordem im Land Juda nicht gesehen.	11 And the king made of the algum wood steps for the house of the LORD and for the king's house, lyres also and harps for the singers; there never was seen the like of them before in the land of Judah.
12 König Salomo gewährte der Königin von Saba alles, was sie wünschte und begehrte, ausgenommen das, was sie dem König geschenkt hatte. Schließlich kehrte sie mit ihrem Gefolge in ihr Land zurück.	12 And King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all that she desired, whatever she asked besides what she had brought to the king. So she turned and went back to her own land, with her servants.
13 Das Gewicht des Goldes, das alljährlich bei Salomo einging, betrug sechshundertsechsundsechzig Goldtalente.	13 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold,
14 Dabei sind nicht eingerechnet die Abgaben, die von den Kaufleuten und Händlern kamen. Auch alle Könige von Arabien und die Statthalter des Landes brachten Salomo Gold und Silber.	14 besides that which the traders and merchants brought; and all the kings of Arabia and the governors of the land brought gold and silver to Solomon.
15 König Salomo ließ zweihundert Schilde aus gehämmertem Gold herstellen. Sechshundert Schekel gehämmertes Gold verwandte er für jeden Schild.	15 King Solomon made two hundred large shields of beaten gold; six hundred shekels of beaten gold went into each shield.
16 Dazu machte er dreihundert kleinere Schilde aus gehämmertem Gold. Dreihundert Schekel Gold verwendete er für jeden. Er brachte sie in das Libanonwaldhaus.	16 And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three hundred shekels of gold went into each shield; and the king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.
17 Ferner ließ der König einen großen Thron aus Elfenbein anfertigen und mit purem Gold überziehen.	17 The king also made a great ivory throne, and overlaid it with pure gold.
18 Sechs Stufen führten zum Thron hinauf. An seiner Rückseite war ein goldenes Lamm und zu beiden Seiten des Sitzes befanden sich Armlehnen. Zwei Löwen standen neben den Lehnen	18 The throne had six steps and a footstool of gold, which were attached to the throne, and on each side of the seat were arm rests and two lions standing beside the arm rests,
19 und zwölf zu beiden Seiten der sechs Stufen. Dergleichen ist noch für kein Königreich geschaffen worden.	19 while twelve lions stood there, one on each end of a step on the six steps. The like of it was never made in any kingdom.
20 Alle Trinkgefäße des Königs Salomo waren aus Gold; ebenso waren alle Geräte des Libanonwaldhauses aus bestem Gold. Silber galt in den Tagen Salomos als wertlos;	20 All King Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; silver was not considered as anything in the days of Solomon.
21 denn der König hatte eine Flotte, die mit den Leuten Hirams nach Tarschisch fuhr. Einmal in drei Jahren kam die Tarschischflotte und brachte Gold, Silber, Elfenbein, Affen und Perlhühner.	21 For the king's ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram; once every three years the ships of Tarshish used to come bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.
22 So übertraf König Salomo alle Könige der Erde an Reichtum und Weisheit.	22 Thus King Solomon excelled all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.
23 Alle Könige der Erde begehrten, ihn zu sehen und die Weisheit zu hören, die Gott in sein Herz gelegt hatte.	23 And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put into his mind.
24 Alle brachten ihm Jahr für Jahr ihre Gaben: silberne und goldene Gefäße, Gewänder, Waffen, Balsam, Pferde und Maultiere.	24 Every one of them brought his present, articles of silver and of gold, garments, myrrh, spices, horses, and mules, so much year by year.
25 Salomo hatte viertausend Stallplätze für seine Pferde sowie Wagen und zwölftausend Mann als Besatzung. Er brachte sie in die Wagenstädte sowie in die Umgebung des Königs nach Jerusalem.	25 And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem.
26 Er war Herrscher über alle Könige vom Eufrat bis zum Land der Philister und bis an die Grenze Ägyptens.	26 And he ruled over all the kings from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.
27 Salomo machte das Silber in Jerusalem so häufig wie die Steine und die Zedern so zahlreich wie die Maulbeerfeigenbäume in der Schefela.	27 And the king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stone, and cedar as plentiful as the sycamore of the Shephelah.
28 Man bezog die Pferde für Salomo aus Ägypten und aus allen Ländern.	28 And horses were imported for Solomon from Egypt and from all lands.
29 Die übrige Geschichte Salomos, die frühere und die spätere, ist aufgezeichnet in der Geschichte des Propheten Natan, in der Weissagung Ahijas aus Schilo und in der Vision des Sehers Jedo über Jerobeam, den Sohn Nebats.	29 Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, from first to last, are they not written in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat?
30 Salomo war vierzig Jahre in Jerusalem König über ganz Israel.	30 Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.
31 Er entschlief zu seinen Vätern und man begrub ihn in der Stadt seines Vaters David. Sein Sohn Rehabeam wurde König an seiner Stelle.	31 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father; and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
