Genesis 47

EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Josef ging also hin, berichtete dem Pharao und sagte: Mein Vater und meine Brüder sind mit ihren Schafen, Ziegen und Rindern und mit allem, was ihnen gehört, aus Kanaan gekommen. Sie sind bereits in Goschen.	1 So Joseph went and told Pharaoh, 'My father and brothers have arrived from Canaan with their flocksand cattle and al their possessions. Here they are, in the region of Goshen.'
2 Aus dem Kreis seiner Brüder hatte er fünf Männer mitgebracht und stellte sie dem Pharao vor.	2 He had taken five of his brothers, and he now presented them to Pharaoh.
3 Der Pharao fragte Josefs Brüder: Womit beschäftigt ihr euch? Sie antworteten dem Pharao: Hirten von Schafen und Ziegen sind deine Knechte; wir sind es und unsere Väter waren es auch schon.	3 Pharaoh asked his brothers, 'What is your occupation?' and they gave Pharaoh the answer, 'Yourservants are shepherds, like our fathers before us.'
4 Weiter sagten sie zum Pharao: Wir sind gekommen, um uns als Fremde im Land aufzuhalten. Es gibt ja keine Weide für das Vieh deiner Knechte, denn schwer lastet die Hungersnot auf Kanaan. Nun möchten sich deine Knechte in Goschen niederlassen.	4 They went on to tel Pharaoh, 'We have come to stay in this country for the time being, since there isno pasturage for your servants' flocks, Canaan being stricken with famine. So now please al ow your servants tosettle in the region of Goshen.'
5 Darauf sagte der Pharao zu Josef: Dein Vater und deine Brüder sind also zu dir gekommen.	5 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph,'They may stay in the region of Goshen, and if you know of any capablemen among them, put them in charge of my own livestock.' Jacob and his sons went to Egypt where Josephwas. Pharaoh king of Egypt heard about this and said to Joseph, 'Your father and brothers have come to you.
6 Ägypten steht dir offen. Im besten Teil des Landes lass deinen Vater und deine Brüder wohnen! Sie sollen sich in Goschen niederlassen. Wenn du aber unter ihnen tüchtige Leute kennst, dann setze sie als Aufseher über meine Herden ein!	6 The country of Egypt is open to you: settle your father and brothers in the best region.'
7 Darauf führte Josef seinen Vater Jakob hinein und stellte ihn dem Pharao vor. Jakob grüßte den Pharao mit einem Segenswunsch.	7 Joseph brought his father and presented him to Pharaoh. Jacob paid his respects to Pharaoh.
8 Der Pharao redete Jakob an: Wie viele Lebensjahre zählst du?	8 Pharaoh asked Jacob, 'How many years have you lived?'
9 Jakob gab dem Pharao zur Antwort: Die Zahl der Jahre meiner Pilgerschaft beträgt hundertdreißig. Gering an Zahl und unglücklich waren meine Lebensjahre und sie reichen nicht heran an die Lebensjahre meiner Väter in den Tagen ihrer Pilgerschaft.	9 Jacob said to Pharaoh, 'The years of my stay on earth add up to one hundred and thirty years. Fewand unhappy my years have been, fal ing short of my ancestors' years in their stay on earth.'
10 Jakob verabschiedete sich vom Pharao mit einem Segenswunsch.	10 Jacob then took leave of Pharaoh and withdrew from his presence.
11 Josef siedelte seinen Vater und seine Brüder an und wies ihnen den Grundbesitz in Ägypten zu, im besten Teil des Landes, im Gebiet von Ramses, wie der Pharao verfügt hatte.	11 Joseph then settled his father and brothers, giving them land holdings in Egypt, in the best part of thecountry, the region of Rameses, as Pharaoh had ordered.
12 Josef versorgte seinen Vater und seine Brüder und das ganze Haus seines Vaters mit so viel Brot, dass die Kinder genug zu essen hatten.	12 Joseph provided his father, brothers and al his father's family with food, down to the least of them.
13 Im ganzen Land gab es kein Brot und der Hunger war sehr drückend. Ägypten und Kanaan waren vor Hunger erschöpft.	13 And on al the earth around there was now no food anywhere, for the famine had grown very severe,and Egypt and Canaan were both weak with hunger.
14 Josef hatte das Geld, das in Ägypten und in Kanaan im Umlauf war, für das Getreide, das sie kaufen mussten, eingezogen und in den Palast des Pharao gebracht.	14 Joseph accumulated al the money to be found in Egypt and Canaan, in exchange for the suppliesbeing handed out, and put the money in Pharaoh's palace.
15 So war das Geld in Ägypten und Kanaan ausgegangen. Alle Ägypter kamen zu Josef und sagten: Gib uns Brot! Warum sollen wir vor deinen Augen umkommen? Das Geld ist nämlich zu Ende.	15 When al the money in Egypt and Canaan was exhausted, al the Egyptians came to Joseph,pleading, 'Give us food, unless you want us to die before your eyes! For our money has come to an end.'
16 Liefert euer Vieh ab, sagte Josef, dann gebe ich euch dafür Brot, wenn das Geld zu Ende ist.	16 Joseph replied, 'Hand over your livestock and I shal issue you food in exchange for your livestock, ifyour money has come to an end.'
17 So brachten sie ihr Vieh zu Josef und Josef verkaufte ihnen Brot um den Preis der Pferde, ihrer Bestände an Schafen und Ziegen, an Rindern und Eseln. Er versorgte die Leute also in jenem Jahr gegen ihren ganzen Viehbestand mit Brot.	17 So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them food in exchange for horses andlivestock, whether sheep or cattle, and for donkeys. Thus he saw them through that year with food in exchangefor all their livestock.
18 Das Jahr ging indes zu Ende und im nächsten Jahr kamen sie und sagten zu ihm: Wir können unserem Herrn nicht verhehlen, dass das Geld zu Ende und unser Viehbestand in den Besitz unseres Herrn übergegangen ist. Wie unser Herr sieht, haben wir nichts mehr als unsere Leiber und unser Ackerland.	18 When that year was over, they came to him the next year, and said to him, 'We cannot hide it frommy lord: the truth is, our money has run out and the livestock is in my lord's possession. There is nothing left formy lord except our bodies and our land.
19 Warum sollen wir vor deinen Augen umkommen, wir selbst und auch unser Ackerland? Kauf uns und unsere Äcker um Brot! Wir und unser Ackerland wollen dem Pharao dienstbar sein. Stell Saatgut zur Verfügung, so werden wir am Leben bleiben, wir müssen dann nicht sterben und das Ackerland braucht nicht zu verkommen.	19 If we and our land are not to perish, take us and our land in exchange for food, and we with our landwil become Pharaoh's serfs; only give us seed, so that we can survive and not die and the land not revert todesert!'
20 Josef kaufte also das ganze Ackerland der Ägypter für den Pharao auf; denn die Ägypter verkauften alle ihr Feld, weil sie der Hunger dazu zwang. So wurde das Land Eigentum des Pharao.	20 Thus Joseph acquired all the land in Egypt for Pharaoh, since one by one the Egyptians sold theirfields, so hard pressed were they by the famine; and the whole country passed into Pharaoh's possession,
21 Das Volk aber machte er ihm Leibeigen von einem Ende Ägyptens bis zum andern.	21 while the people he reduced to serfdom from one end of Egypt to the other.
22 Nur das Ackerland der Priester kaufte er nicht auf, denn den Priestern steht ein festes Einkommen vom Pharao zu; sie leben von dem festen Einkommen, das ihnen der Pharao gewährt. Darum brauchten sie ihr Ackerland nicht zu verkaufen.	22 The only land he did not acquire belonged to the priests, for the priests received an al owance fromPharaoh and lived on the al owance that Pharaoh gave them. Hence they had no need to sel their land.
23 Nun sprach Josef zum Volk: Seht, heute habe ich euch und euer Ackerland für den Pharao gekauft. Hier habt ihr Saatgut; bestellt nun die Äcker!	23 Then Joseph said to the people, 'This is how we stand: I have bought you out, with your land, onPharaoh's behalf. Here is seed for you to sow the land.
24 Vom Ertrag liefert ihr dann ein Fünftel dem Pharao ab, vier Teile aber gehören euch als Saatgut für das Feld sowie als Nahrung für euch, für die Leute in euren Häusern und für eure Kinder.	24 But of the harvest you must give a fifth to Pharaoh. The other four-fifths you can have for sowingyour fields, to provide food for yourselves and your households, and food for your children.'
25 Da antworteten sie: Du hast uns am Leben erhalten. Wenn wir das Wohlwollen unseres Herrn finden, wollen wir gern dem Pharao als Knechte dienen.	25 'You have saved our lives!' they replied. 'If it please my lord, we will become serfs to Pharaoh.'
26 So verfügte Josef als gültiges Recht bis auf den heutigen Tag, dass das Ackerland Ägyptens zugunsten des Pharao mit einem Fünftel zu besteuern ist. Nur die Äcker der Priester wurden nicht Eigentum des Pharao.	26 So Joseph made a law, still in force today, as regards the soil of Egypt, that one-fifth should go toPharaoh. Only the land of the priests did not go to Pharaoh.
27 Israel ließ sich in Ägypten nieder, in der Landschaft Goschen. Sie wurden dort ansässig, waren fruchtbar und vermehrten sich sehr.	27 Thus Israel settled in Egypt, in the region of Goshen. They acquired property there; they were fruitfuland grew very numerous.
28 Jakob lebte noch siebzehn Jahre in Ägypten und die Tage Jakobs, seine Lebensjahre, betrugen hundertsiebenundvierzig Jahre.	28 Jacob lived seventeen years in Egypt; thus Jacob's total age came to a hundred and forty-sevenyears.
29 Als die Zeit kam, da Israel sterben sollte, rief er seinen Sohn Josef und sagte zu ihm: Wenn ich dein Wohlwollen gefunden habe, leg deine Hand unter meine Hüfte, dass du nach Treu und Glauben an mir handeln wirst: Begrab mich nicht in Ägypten!	29 When Israel's time to die drew near he sent for his son Joseph and said to him, 'If you real y love me,place your hand under my thigh as pledge that you will act with faithful love towards me: do not bury me inEgypt!
30 Bin ich zu meinen Vätern entschlafen, dann bring mich fort aus Ägypten und begrab mich in der Grabstätte meiner Väter! Er antwortete: Ich will tun, wie du gesagt hast.	30 When I lie down with my ancestors, carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their tomb.' 'I shal do asyou say,' he replied.
31 Da sagte Jakob: Leiste mir einen Eid! Er leistete ihm den Eid. Darauf neigte sich Israel über das Kopfende seines Bettes.	31 'Swear to me,' he insisted. So he swore to him, and Israel sank back on the pil ow.
