1 Le bilance false sono cosa abbominevole al Signore; Ma il peso giusto gli è cosa grata	1 False scales are an abomination to the LORD, but a full weight is his delight.
2 Venuta la superbia, viene l’ignominia; Ma la sapienza è con gli umili	2 When pride comes, disgrace comes; but with the humble is wisdom.
3 L’integrità degli uomini diritti li conduce; Ma la perversità de’ disleali di distrugge	3 The honesty of the upright guides them; the faithless are ruined by their duplicity.
4 Le ricchezze non gioveranno al giorno dell’indegnazione; Ma la giustizia riscoterà da morte	4 Wealth is useless on the day of wrath, but virtue saves from death.
5 La giustizia dell’uomo intiero addirizza la via di esso; Ma l’empio caderà per la sua empietà.	5 The honest man's virtue makes his way straight, but by his wickedness the wicked man falls.
6 La giustizia degli uomini diritti li riscoterà; Ma i disleali saranno presi per la lor propria malizia	6 The virtue of the upright saves them, but the faithless are caught in their own intrigue.
7 Quando l’uomo empio muore, la sua aspettazione perisce; E la speranza ch’egli aveva concepita delle sue forze è perduta	7 When a wicked man dies his hope perishes, and what is expected from strength comes to nought.
8 Il giusto è tratto fuor di distretta; Ma l’empio viene in luogo suo	8 The just man escapes trouble, and the wicked man falls into it in his stead.
9 L’ipocrito corrompe il suo prossimo con la sua bocca; Ma i giusti ne son liberati per conoscimento	9 With his mouth the impious man would ruin his neighbor, but through their knowledge the just make their escape.
10 La città festeggia del bene de’ giusti; Ma vi è giubilo quando gli empi periscono.	10 When the just prosper, the city rejoices; and when the wicked perish, there is jubilation.
11 La città è innalzata per la benedizione degli uomini diritti; Ma è sovvertita per la bocca degli empi	11 Through the blessing of the righteous the city is exalted, but through the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown.
12 Chi sprezza il suo prossimo è privo di senno; Ma l’uomo prudente tace.	12 He who reviles his neighbor has no sense, but the intelligent man keeps silent.
13 Colui che va sparlando palesa il segreto; Ma chi è leale di spirito cela la cosa	13 A newsmonger reveals secrets, but a trustworthy man keeps a confidence.
14 Il popolo cade in ruina dove non son consigli; Ma vi è salute in moltitudine di consiglieri	14 For lack of guidance a people falls; security lies in many counselors.
15 L’uomo certamente sofferirà del male, se fa sicurtà per lo strano; Ma chi odia i mallevadori è sicuro	15 He is in a bad way who becomes surety for another, but he who hates giving pledges is safe.
16 La donna graziosa otterrà gloria, Come i possenti ottengono ricchezze	16 A gracious woman wins esteem, but she who hates virtue is covered with shame. (The slothful become impoverished, but the diligent gain wealth.)
17 L’uomo benigno fa bene a sè stesso; Ma il crudele conturba la sua propria carne	17 A kindly man benefits himself, but a merciless man harms himself.
18 L’empio fa un’opera fallace; Ma vi è un premio sicuro per colui che semina giustizia	18 The wicked man makes empty profits, but he who sows virture has a sure reward.
19 Così è la giustizia a vita, Come chi procaccia il male lo procaccia alla sua morte	19 Virtue directs toward life, but he who pursues evil does so to his death.
20 I perversi di cuore sono un abbominio al Signore; Ma quelli che sono intieri di via son ciò che gli è grato	20 The depraved in heart are an abomination to the LORD, but those who walk blamelessly are his delight.
21 Il malvagio d’ora in ora non resterà impunito; Ma la progenie de’ giusti scamperà	21 Truly the evil man shall not go unpunished, but those who are just shall escape.
22 Una donna bella, ma scema di senno, È un monile d’oro nel grifo d’un porco	22 Like a golden ring in a swine's snout is a beautiful woman with a rebellious disposition.
23 Il desiderio de’ giusti non è altro che bene; Ma la speranza degli empi è indegnazione	23 The desire of the just ends only in good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24 Vi è tale che spande, e pur vie più diventa ricco; E tale che risparmia oltre al diritto, e pur ne diventa sempre più povero	24 One man is lavish yet grows still richer; another is too sparing, yet is the poorer.
25 La persona liberale sarà ingrassata; E chi annaffia sarà anch’esso annaffiato	25 He who confers benefits will be amply enriched, and he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
26 Il popolo maledirà chi serra il grano; Ma benedizione sarà sopra il capo di chi lo vende	26 Him who monopolizes grain, the people curse-- but blessings upon the head of him who distributes it!
27 Chi cerca il bene procaccia benevolenza; Ma il male avverrà a chi lo cerca	27 He who seeks the good commands favor, but he who pursues evil will have evil befall him.
28 Chi si confida nelle sue ricchezze caderà; Ma i giusti germoglieranno a guisa di frondi	28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, but like green leaves the just flourish.
29 Chi dissipa la sua casa possederà del vento; E lo stolto sarà servo a chi è savio di cuore	29 He who upsets his household has empty air for a heritage; and the fool will become slave to the wise man.
30 Il frutto del giusto è un albero di vita; E il savio prende le anime	30 The fruit of virtue is a tree of life, but violence takes lives away.
31 Ecco, il giusto riceve la sua retribuzione in terra; Quanto più la riceverà l’empio e il peccatore?	31 If the just man is punished on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
