Primeira Epístola aos Coríntios 3

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 A vós, irmãos, não vos pude falar como a homens espirituais, mas como a carnais, como a criancinhas em Cristo.	1 And so, brothers, I was not able to talk to you as spiritual people; I had to talk to you as people stilliving by your natural inclinations, stil infants in Christ;
2 Eu vos dei leite a beber, e não alimento sólido que ainda não podíeis suportar. Nem ainda agora o podeis, porque ainda sois carnais.	2 I fed you with milk and not solid food, for you were not yet able to take it -- and even now, you are stilnot able to,
3 Com efeito, enquanto houver entre vós ciúmes e contendas, não será porque sois carnais e procedeis de um modo totalmente humano?	3 for you are still living by your natural inclinations. As long as there are jealousy and rivalry among you,that surely means that you are stil living by your natural inclinations and by merely human principles.
4 Quando, entre vós, um diz: Eu sou de Paulo, e outro: Eu, de Apolo, não é isto modo de pensar totalmente humano?	4 While there is one that says, 'I belong to Paul' and another that says, 'I belong to Apol os' are you notbeing only too human?
5 Pois que é Apolo? E que é Paulo? Simples servos, por cujo intermédio abraçastes a fé, e isto conforme a medida que o Senhor repartiu a cada um deles:	5 For what is Apollos and what is Paul? The servants through whom you came to believe, and each hasonly what the Lord has given him.
6 eu plantei, Apolo regou, mas Deus é quem fez crescer.	6 I did the planting, Apol os did the watering, but God gave growth.
7 Assim, nem o que planta é alguma coisa nem o que rega, mas só Deus, que faz crescer.	7 In this, neither the planter nor the waterer counts for anything; only God, who gives growth.
8 O que planta ou o que rega são iguais; cada um receberá a sua recompensa, segundo o seu trabalho.	8 It is al one who does the planting and who does the watering, and each will have the proper pay for thework that he has done.
9 Nós somos operários com Deus. Vós, o campo de Deus, o edifício de Deus.	9 After all, we do share in God's work; you are God's farm, God's building.
10 Segundo a graça que Deus me deu, como sábio arquiteto lancei o fundamento, mas outro edifica sobre ele.	10 By the grace of God which was given to me, I laid the foundations like a trained master-builder, andsomeone else is building on them. Now each one must be careful how he does the building.
11 Quanto ao fundamento, ninguém pode pôr outro diverso daquele que já foi posto: Jesus Cristo.	11 For nobody can lay down any other foundation than the one which is there already, namely JesusChrist.
12 Agora, se alguém edifica sobre este fundamento, com ouro, ou com prata, ou com pedras preciosas, com madeira, ou com feno, ou com palha,	12 On this foundation, different people may build in gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay or straw
13 a obra de cada um aparecerá. O dia {do julgamento} demonstrá-lo-á. Será descoberto pelo fogo; o fogo provará o que vale o trabalho de cada um.	13 but each person's handiwork wil be shown for what it is. The Day which dawns in fire will make it clearand the fire itself wil test the quality of each person's work.
14 Se a construção resistir, o construtor receberá a recompensa.	14 The one whose work stands up to it wil be given his wages;
15 Se pegar fogo, arcará com os danos. Ele será salvo, porém passando de alguma maneira através do fogo.	15 the one whose work is burnt down wil suffer the loss of it, though he himself will be saved; he wil besaved as someone might expect to be saved from a fire.
16 Não sabeis que sois o templo de Deus, e que o Espírito de Deus habita em vós?	16 Do you not realise that you are a temple of God with the Spirit of God living in you?
17 Se alguém destruir o templo de Deus, Deus o destruirá. Porque o templo de Deus é sagrado - e isto sois vós.	17 If anybody should destroy the temple of God, God will destroy that person, because God's temple isholy; and you are that temple.
18 Ninguém se engane a si mesmo. Se alguém dentre vós se julga sábio à maneira deste mundo, faça-se louco para tornar-se sábio,	18 There is no room for self-delusion. Any one of you who thinks he is wise by worldly standards mustlearn to be a fool in order to be real y wise.
19 porque a sabedoria deste mundo é loucura diante de Deus; pois {diz a Escritura} ele apanhará os sábios na sua própria astúcia {Jó 5,13}.	19 For the wisdom of the world is folly to God. As scripture says: He traps the crafty in the snare of theirown cunning
20 E em outro lugar: O Senhor conhece os pensamentos dos sábios, e ele sabe que são vãos {Sl 93,11}.	20 and again: The Lord knows the plans of the wise and how insipid they are.
21 Portanto, ninguém ponha sua glória nos homens. Tudo é vosso:	21 So there is to be no boasting about human beings: everything belongs to you,
22 Paulo, Apolo, Cefas, o mundo, a vida, a morte, o presente e o futuro. Tudo é vosso!	22 whether it is Paul, or Apol os, or Cephas, the world, life or death, the present or the future -- al belongto you;
23 Mas vós sois de Cristo, e Cristo é de Deus.	23 but you belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God.
