1 The Praise of a Canticle, of David. Whoever dwells with the assistance of the Most High will abide in the protection of the God of heaven.	1 (Laude a cantico. Di David). Chi riposa nell'aiuto dell'Altissimo vivrà sotto la protezione del Dio del cielo.
2 He will say to the Lord, “You are my supporter and my refuge.” My God, I will hope in him.	2 Dirà al Signore: « Tu sei il mio protettore, il mio rifugio. E' il mio Dio: in lui la mia speranza.
3 For he has freed me from the snare of those who go hunting, and from the harsh word.	3 Egli mi liberò dal laccio dei cacciatori e dalle aspre parole ».
4 He will overshadow you with his shoulders, and you will hope under his wings.	4 Ti coprirà colle sue ali e sotto le sue penne troverai rifugio.
5 His truth will surround you with a shield. You will not be afraid: before the terror of the night,	5 La sua verità ti circonderà come scudo, non temerai i notturni spaventi,
6 before the arrow flying in the day, before the troubles that wander in the darkness, nor of invasion and the midday demon.	6 Nè saetta che vola di giorno, nè male che s'insinua fra le tenebre, nè assalto del demonio del mezzogiorno.
7 A thousand will fall before your side and ten thousand before your right hand. Yet it will not draw near you.	7 Ne cadran mille al tuo fianco e dieci mila alla tua destra, ma a te non s'avvicineranno.
8 So then, truly, you will consider with your eyes, and you will see the retribution of sinners.	8 Però guardando coi tuoi propri occhi vedrai il castigo che tocca ai peccatori.
9 For you, O Lord, are my hope. You have set the Most High as your refuge.	9 « O Signore, tu sei la mia speranza »: hai preso l'Altissimo a tuo rifugio.
10 Disaster will not draw near to you, and the scourge will not approach your tabernacle.	10 Non si avvicinerà a te il male, e il flagello non si accosterà alla tua tenda;
11 For he has given his Angels charge over you, so as to preserve you in all your ways.	11 Perché ai suoi angeli ha dato per te quest'ordine: di custodirti in tutte le tue vie:
12 With their hands, they will carry you, lest you hurt your foot against a stone.	12 Ti porteranno sulle loro palme, affinchè il tuo piede non inciampi nei sassi.
13 You will walk over the asp and the king serpent, and you will trample the lion and the dragon.	13 Camminerai sopra l'aspide e il basilisco e calpesterai il leone e il dragone.
14 Because he has hoped in me, I will free him. I will protect him because he has known my name.	14 Perché ha sperato in me, lo libererò, lo proteggerò; perchè ha conosciuto il mio nome.
15 He will cry out to me, and I will heed him. I am with him in tribulation. I will rescue him, and I will glorify him.	15 Alzerà a me la voce, ed io lo esaudirò, con lui sono nella tribolazione, lo libererò e lo glorificherò.
16 I will fill him with length of days. And I will reveal to him my salvation.	16 Lo sazierò con lunga vita e gli farò vederti la mia salvezza ».
