¹ Of these things be not thou ashamed, and accept no person to sin thereby:	¹ Não repitas o que ouviste. Não reveles um segredo. Assim estarás verdadeiramente isento de confusão, e acharás graça diante de todos os homens. Não te envergonhes de tudo o que vou dizer, e não faças acepção de pessoas até o ponto de pecar.
² Of the law of the most High, and his covenant; and of judgment to justify the ungodly;	² Não te envergonhes da lei e da aliança do Altíssimo, de uma sentença que justifique o ímpio,
³ Of reckoning with thy partners and travellers; or of the gift of the heritage of friends;	³ de um negócio entre teus amigos e estranhos, da doação de uma herança em favor de teus amigos.
⁴ Of exactness of balance and weights; or of getting much or little;	⁴ Não te envergonhes de usar uma balança fiel e de peso certo, de adquirir pouco ou muito,
⁵ And of merchants' indifferent selling; of much correction of children; and to make the side of an evil servant to bleed.	⁵ de não fazer diferença na venda e com os mercadores, de corrigir freqüentemente os teus filhos, de golpear até sangrar as costas de um escravo ruim.
⁶ Sure keeping is good, where an evil wife is; and shut up, where many hands are.	⁶ Sobre uma mulher má, é bom pôr-se o selo.
⁷ Deliver all things in number and weight; and put all in writing that thou givest out, or receivest in.	⁷ Onde há muitas mãos, emprega a chave. Conta e pesa tudo o que entregas; assenta o que dás e o que recebes.
⁸ Be not ashamed to inform the unwise and foolish, and the extreme aged that contendeth with those that are young: thus shalt thou be truly learned, and approved of all men living.	⁸ Não te envergonhes de corrigir o insensato e o tolo; não te envergonhes dos anciãos julgados pelos jovens. Assim te mostrarás verdadeiramente instruído, e serás aprovado por todos.
⁹ The father waketh for the daughter, when no man knoweth; and the care for her taketh away sleep: when she is young, lest she pass away the flower of her age; and being married, lest she should be hated:	⁹ Uma filha é uma preocupação secreta para seu pai; o cuidado dela tira-lhe o sono. Ele teme que passe a flor de sua idade sem se casar, ou que, casada, torne-se odiosa para o marido;
¹⁰ In her virginity, lest she should be defiled and gotten with child in her father's house; and having an husband, lest she should misbehave herself; and when she is married, lest she should be barren.	¹⁰ receia que seja seduzida na sua virgindade, e que se torne grávida na casa paterna. Teme que, casada, ela viole a fidelidade, ou que, em todo caso, seja estéril.
¹¹ Keep a sure watch over a shameless daughter, lest she make thee a laughingstock to thine enemies, and a byword in the city, and a reproach among the people, and make thee ashamed before the multitude.	¹¹ Exerce severa vigilância sobre uma filha libertina, para que ela te não exponha aos insultos dos teus inimigos, e te torne o assunto de troça da cidade, o objeto de mofa pública, e te desonre aos olhos de toda a população.
¹² Behold not every body's beauty, and sit not in the midst of women.	¹² Não detenhas o olhar sobre a beleza de ninguém, não te demores no meio de mulheres,
¹³ For from garments cometh a moth, and from women wickedness.	¹³ pois assim como a traça sai das roupas, assim a malícia do homem vem da mulher.
¹⁴ Better is the churlishness of a man than a courteous woman, a woman, I say, which bringeth shame and reproach.	¹⁴ Um homem mau vale mais que uma mulher que (vos) faz bem, mas que se torna causa de vergonha e de confusão.
¹⁵ I will now remember the works of the Lord, and declare the things that I have seen: In the words of the Lord are his works.	¹⁵ Relembrarei agora as obras do Senhor, proclamarei o que vi. Pelas palavras do Senhor foram produzidas as suas obras.
¹⁶ The sun that giveth light looketh upon all things, and the work thereof is full of the glory of the Lord.	¹⁶ O sol contempla todas as coisas que ilumina; a obra do Senhor está cheia de sua glória.
¹⁷ The Lord hath not given power to the saints to declare all his marvellous works, which the Almighty Lord firmly settled, that whatsoever is might be established for his glory.	¹⁷ Porventura não fez o Senhor com que seus santos proclamassem todas as suas maravilhas, maravilhas que ele, o Senhor todo-poderoso, consolidou, a fim de que subsistam para a sua glória?
¹⁸ He seeketh out the deep, and the heart, and considereth their crafty devices: for the Lord knoweth all that may be known, and he beholdeth the signs of the world.	¹⁸ Ele sonda o abismo e o coração humano, e penetra os seus pensamentos mais sutis,
¹⁹ He declareth the things that are past, and for to come, and revealeth the steps of hidden things.	¹⁹ pois o Senhor conhece tudo o que se pode saber. Ele vê os sinais dos tempos futuros, anuncia o passado e o porvir, descobre os vestígios das coisas ocultas.
²⁰ No thought escapeth him, neither any word is hidden from him.	²⁰ Nenhum pensamento lhe escapa, nenhum fato se esconde a seus olhos.
²¹ He hath garnished the excellent works of his wisdom, and he is from everlasting to everlasting: unto him may nothing be added, neither can he be diminished, and he hath no need of any counsellor.	²¹ Ele enalteceu as maravilhas de sua sabedoria, ele é antes de todos os séculos e será eternamente.
²² Oh how desirable are all his works! and that a man may see even to a spark.	²² Nada se pode acrescentar ao que ele é, nem nada lhe tirar; não necessita do conselho de ninguém.
²³ All these things live and remain for ever for all uses, and they are all obedient.	²³ Como são agradáveis as suas obras! E todavia delas não podemos ver mais que uma centelha.
²⁴ All things are double one against another: and he hath made nothing imperfect.	²⁴ Essas obras vivem e subsistem para sempre, e em tudo o que é preciso, todas lhe obedecem.
²⁵ One thing establisheth the good or another: and who shall be filled with beholding his glory?	²⁵ Todas as coisas existem duas a duas, uma oposta à outra; ele nada fez que seja defeituoso.
	²⁶ Ele fortaleceu o que cada um tem de bom. Quem se saciará de ver a glória do Senhor?
