Psalms 77

1 Unto the end, for Idithun, a psalm of Asaph.	1 Du maître de chant... Yedutûn. D'Asaph.Psaume.
2 I cried to the Lord with my voice; to God with my voice, and he gave ear to me.	2 Vers Dieu ma voix: je crie, vers Dieu ma voix: il m'entend.
3 In the day of my trouble I sought God, with my hands lifted up to him in the night, and I was not deceived. My soul refused to be comforted:	3 Au jour d'angoisse j'ai cherché le Seigneur; la nuit, j'ai tendu la main sans relâche, mon âme arefusé d'être consolée.
4 I remembered God, and was delighted, and was exercised, and my spirit swooned away.	4 Je me souviens de Dieu et je gémis, je médite et le souffle me manque.
5 My eyes prevented the watches: I was troubled, and I spoke not.	5 Tu as retenu les paupières de mes yeux, je suis troublé, je ne puis parler;
6 I thought upon the days of old: and I had in my mind the eternal years.	6 j'ai pensé aux jours d'autrefois, d'années séculaires
7 And I meditated in the night with my own heart: and I was exercised and I swept my spirit.	7 je me souviens; je murmure dans la nuit en mon coeur, je médite et mon esprit interroge:
8 Will God then cast off for ever? or will he never be more favourable again?	8 Est-ce pour les siècles que le Seigneur rejette, qu'il cesse de se montrer favorable?
9 Or will he cut off his mercy for ever, from generation to generation?	9 Son amour est-il épuisé jusqu'à la fin, achevée pour les âges des âges la Parole?
10 Or will God forget to shew mercy? or will he in his anger shut up his mercies?	10 Est-ce que Dieu oublie d'avoir pitié, ou de colère ferme-t-il ses entrailles?
11 And I said, Now have I begun: this is the change of the right hand of the most High.	11 Et je dis: "Voilà ce qui me blesse: elle est changée, la droite du Très-Haut."
12 I remembered the works of the Lord: for I will be mindful of thy wonders from the beginning.	12 Je me souviens des hauts faits de Yahvé, oui, je me souviens d'autrefois, de tes merveilles,
13 And I will meditate on all thy works: and will be employed in thy inventions.	13 je me murmure toute ton oeuvre, et sur tes hauts faits je médite:
14 Thy way, O God, is in the holy place: who is the great God like our God?	14 O Dieu, saintes sont tes voies! quel dieu est grand comme Dieu?
15 Thou art the God that dost wonders. Thou hast made thy power known among the nations:	15 Toi, le Dieu qui fait merveille, tu fis savoir parmi les peuples ta force;
16 with thy arm thou hast redeemed thy people the children of Jacob and of Joseph.	16 par ton bras tu rachetas ton peuple, les enfants de Jacob et de Joseph.
17 The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee: and they were afraid, and the depths were troubled.	17 Les eaux te virent, ô Dieu, les eaux te virent et furent bouleversées, les abîmes aussi s'agitaient.
18 Great was the noise of the waters: the clouds sent out a sound. For thy arrows pass:	18 Les nuées déversèrent les eaux, les nuages donnèrent de la voix, tes flèches aussi filaient.
19 the voice of thy thunder in a wheel. Thy lightnings enlightened the world: the earth shook and trembled.	19 Voix de ton tonnerre en son roulement. Tes éclairs illuminaient le monde, la terre s'agitait ettremblait.
20 Thy way is in the sea, and thy paths in many waters: and thy footsteps shall not be known.	20 Sur la mer fut ton chemin, ton sentier sur les eaux innombrables. Et tes traces, nul ne les connut.
21 Thou hast conducted thy people like sheep, by the hand of Moses and Aaron	21 Tu guidas comme un troupeau ton peuple par la main de Moïse et d'Aaron.
