1 En el segundo año después de la salida de Egipto, el primer día del segundo mes, el Señor dijo a Moisés en el desierto del Sinaí, en la Carpa del Encuentro:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, in the desert of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the secondmonth, in the second year after the exodus from Egypt, and said:
2 Hagan un censo de toda la comunidad de los israelitas, por clanes y por familias, anotando uno por uno los nombres de todos los varones,	2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites by clans and families, taking a count of the namesof al the males, head by head.
3 Tú y Aarón registrarán a todos los hombres de Israel que son aptos para la guerra, es decir, a los que tienen más de veinte años, agrupados por regimientos.	3 You and Aaron wil register al those in Israel, twenty years of age and over, fit to bear arms, companyby company;
4 Para ello contarán con la ayuda de un jefe de familia por cada tribu.	4 you wil have one man from each tribe, the head of his family, to help you.
5 Los nombres de las personas que les ayudarán son los siguientes: Por la tribu de Rubén, Elisur, hijo de Sedeur;	5 'These are the names of those who must help you: For Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur.
6 por la tribu de Simeón, Selumiel, hijo de Surisadai;	6 For Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.
7 por la tribu de Judá, Najsón, hijo de Aminadab;	7 For Judah, Nahshon son of Amminadab.
8 por la tribu de Isacar, Natanael, hijo de Suar;	8 For Issachar, Nethanel son of Zuar.
9 por la tribu de Zabulón, Eliab, hijo de Jelón;	9 For Zebulun, Eliab son of Helon.
10 por las tribus de los hijos de José: Elisamá, hijo de Amihud, de la tribu de Efraím, y Gamaliel, hijo de Padasur, de la tribu de Manasés;	10 Of the sons of Joseph: for Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud; for Manasseh, Gamaliel son ofPedahzur.
11 por la tribu de Benjamín, Abidán, hijo de Gedeón;	11 For Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni.
12 por la tribu de Dan, Ajiézer, hijo de Amisaddai;	12 For Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai.
13 por la tribu de Aser, Paguiel, hijo de Ocrán;	13 For Asher, Pagiel son of Ochran.
14 por la tribu de Gad, Eliasaf, hijo de Deuel;	14 For Gad, Eliasaph son of Reuel.
15 por la tribu de Neftalí, Ajirá, hijo de Enán.	15 For Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.'
16 Estos eran los representantes de la comunidad, los jefes de las tribus de sus antepasados, los jefes de los clanes de Israel.	16 These were men of repute in the community; they were the leaders of their ancestral tribes, the headsof Israel's thousands.
17 Moisés y Aarón reunieron a todos estos hombres, que habían sido designados expresamente,	17 Moses and Aaron took these men who had been named
18 y convocaron a la comunidad el primer día del segundo mes. Entonces todos se inscribieron por clanes y por familias, y se fueron anotando uno por uno los nombres de los que tenían más de veinte años.	18 and on the first day of the second month they mustered the whole community. The Israelitesestablished their pedigrees by clans and families, and one by one the names of all men of twenty years and overwere recorded.
19 Así los registró Moisés en el desierto del Sinaí, como el Señor se lo había ordenado.	19 As Yahweh had ordered, Moses registered them in the desert of Sinai.
20 Los resultados fueron los siguientes: En la lista de los descendientes de Rubén, el primogénito de Israel, por clanes y por familias –una vez anotados uno por uno los nombres de todos los varones que tenían más de veinte años, o sea, de los aptos para la guerra–	20 Once the pedigrees of the descendants of Reuben, Israel's first-born, had been established by clansand families, the names of all the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
21 fueron registrados 46.500 hombres.	21 The total of these for the tribe of Reuben was forty-six thousand five hundred.
22 En las lista de los descendientes de Simeón, por clanes y por familias –una vez anotados uno por uno los nombres de todos los varones que tenían más de veinte años, o sea, de los aptos para la guerra–	22 Once the pedigrees of Simeon's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
23 fueron registrados 59.300 hombres.	23 The total of these for the tribe of Simeon was fifty-nine thousand three hundred.
24 En la lista de los descendientes de Gad, por clanes y por familias –una vez anotados uno por uno los nombres de todos los varones que tenían más de veinte años, o sea, de los aptos para la guerra–	24 Once the pedigrees of Gad's descendants had been established by clans and families, the names ofal the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
25 fueron registrados 45.650 hombres.	25 The total of these for the tribe of Gad was forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.

27 fueron registrados 74.600 hombres.	27 The total of these for the tribe of Judah was seventy-four thousand six hundred.

29 fueron registrados 54.400 hombres.	29 The total of these for the tribe of Issachar was fifty-four thousand four hundred.
30 En la lista de los descendientes de Zabulón, por clanes y por familias –una vez anotados uno por uno los nombres de todos los varones que tenían más de veinte años, o sea, de los aptos para la guerra–	30 Once the pedigrees of Zebulun's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
31 fueron registrados 57.400 hombres.	31 The total of these for the tribe of Zebulun was fifty-seven thousand four hundred.
32 En cuanto a los hijos de José: En la lista de los descendientes de Efraím, por clanes y por familias –una vez anotados uno por uno los nombres de todos los varones que tenían más de veinte años, o sea, de los aptos para la guerra–	32 As regards the descendants of Joseph: once the pedigrees of Ephraim's descendants had beenestablished by clans and families, the names of all the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, wererecorded one by one.
33 fueron registrados 40.500 hombres.	33 The total of these for the tribe of Ephraim was forty thousand five hundred.
34 En la lista de los descendientes de Manasés, por clanes y por familias –una vez anotados uno por uno los nombres de todos los varones que tenían más de veinte años, o sea, de los aptos para la guerra–	34 Once the pedigrees of Manasseh's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
35 fueron registrados 32.200 hombres.	35 The total of these for the tribe of Manasseh was thirty-two thousand two hundred.
36 En la lista de los descendientes de Benjamín, por clanes y por familias –una vez anotados uno por uno los nombres de todos los varones que tenían más de veinte años, o sea, de los aptos para la guerra–	36 Once the pedigrees of Benjamin's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
37 fueron registrados 35.400 hombres.	37 The total of these for the tribe of Benjamin was thirty-five thousand four hundred.
38 En la lista de los descendientes de Dan, por clanes y por familias –una vez anotados uno por uno los nombres de todos los varones que tenían más de veinte años, o sea, de los aptos para la guerra–	38 Once the pedigrees of Dan's descendants had been established by clans and families, the names ofal the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
39 fueron registrados 62.700 hombres.	39 The total of these for the tribe of Dan was sixty-two thousand seven hundred.
40 En la lista de los descendientes de Aser, por clanes y por familias –una vez anotados uno por uno los nombres de todos los varones que tenían más de veinte años, o sea, de los aptos para la guerra–	40 Once the pedigrees of Asher's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
41 fueron registrados 41.500 hombres.	41 The total of these for the tribe of Asher was forty-one thousand five hundred.
42 En la lista de los descendientes de Neftalí, por clanes y por familias –una vez anotados uno por uno los nombres de todo los varones que tenían más de veinte años, o sea, de los aptos para la guerra–	42 Once the pedigrees of Naphtali's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
43 fueron registrados 53.400 hombres.	43 The total of these for the tribe of Naphtali was fifty-three thousand four hundred.
44 Estos fueron los registrados por Moisés y Aarón, y por los jefes de Israel, que eran doce, uno por cada casa paterna.	44 Such were the men registered by Moses, Aaron and the leaders of Israel, of whom there were twelve,each representing his family.
45 Todos los israelitas que tenían más de veinte años, todos los hombres de Israel aptos para la guerra, fueron registrados por familias,	45 Al the Israelites of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were counted by families.
46 y los registrados fueron en total 603.550 hombres.	46 Altogether, the total came to six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.
47 Pero la tribu de los levitas no fue registrada con las otras tribus,	47 But the Levites and their tribes were not included in the count.
48 porque el Señor había dicho a Moisés:	48 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
49 No inscribas en el registro a la tribu de Leví ni la incluyas en el censo de los israelitas.	49 'Do not, however, take a census of the Levites, or register them with the other Israelites,
50 Tú encomendarás a los levitas el cuidado de la Morada del Testimonio, de sus enseres y de todo lo que está relacionado con ella. Ellos transportarán la Morada y todos sus enseres, se encargarán de su servicio y acamparán alrededor de ella.	50 but enrol the Levites to take charge of the Dwel ing where the Testimony is and of al its furnishingsand belongings. They must carry the Dwel ing and al its furnishings; they must look after the Dwel ing and pitchtheir camp round it.
51 Cuando la Morada se desplace, los levitas la desarmarán; y cuando se detenga, la armarán. El extraño que se acerque, será castigado con la muerte.	51 Whenever the Dwelling is moved, the Levites will dismantle it; whenever the Dwel ing stops for thenight, the Levites wil erect it. Any unauthorised person coming near it will be put to death.
52 Los israelitas acamparán los regimientos, cada uno con su propia división y bajo sus respectivos estandartes.	52 The Israelites wil pitch their tents, each in their own encampment and by their own standard,company by company,
53 Los levitas, en cambio, lo harán alrededor de la Morada del Testimonio, para que la ira del Señor no se desate contra la comunidad de los israelitas. Ellos estarán encargados de custodiar la Morada del Testimonio.	53 but the Levites wil pitch their tents round the Dwel ing where the Testimony is. In this way Retributionwil be kept from fal ing on the whole community of Israelites, and the Levites wil keep charge of the Dwel ing ofthe Testimony.'
54 Así lo hicieron los israelitas, ateniéndose exactamente a lo que el Señor había dicho a Moisés.	54 The Israelites did exactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses. They did as he said.
