1 5:3 J’ai vu l’insensé bien enraciné, et tout d’un coup sa demeure s’est écroulée.	1 Therefore call, if there are any who will respond to you, and turn to one or another of the saints.
2 5:4 Ses enfants ne trouvaient plus qui les aide, qui les défende en haut lieu face aux attaques.	2 Truly, anger condemns the foolish to death, and envy kills the petty.
3 5:5 Des affamés pillaient leur récolte et l’emportaient dans leurs cachettes; d’autres avaient soif de leurs biens.	3 I have seen a fool with a strong root, and I have cursed his excellence without hesitation.
4 5:6 Non, le désordre ne sort pas de la terre, le malheur ne germe pas du sol.	4 His sons will be far from prosperity and will be crushed at the gate, and there will be none who can rescue them.
5 5:7 Mais si l’homme est né pour mal faire, c’est alors que les flammes s’élèvent.	5 Their harvest, the starving will eat. The armed man will rob him, and the thirsty will drink his resources.
6 5:2 L’insensé est victime de ses délires, c’est leur propre violence qui tue les têtes folles.	6 Nothing on earth occurs without a reason, and sorrow does not rise from the earth.
7 5:1 Tu voudrais appeler? Mais qui te répondra? Vers lequel des Saints te tourneras-tu?	7 Man is born to labor, and the bird to fly.
8 À ta place, j’irais droit à Dieu: c’est à lui que j’exposerais ma cause,	8 Therefore, because of this, I will beg the Lord, and place my eloquence before God.
9 car ses œuvres dépassent ce qu’on peut comprendre, il fait des miracles sans nombre.	9 He does great and unfathomable and miraculous things without number.
10 Il déverse la pluie sur la terre pour irriguer la surface des champs.	10 He gives rain over the face of the earth and irrigates all things with the waters.
11 Il élève ceux qui étaient bas, et rend la joie aux affligés.	11 He places the humble on high and encourages the grieving towards health.
12 Il déjoue les manœuvres des astucieux, et quoi qu’ils fassent, ils ne peuvent s’en remettre.	12 He dispels the thoughts of the spiteful, lest their hands be able to complete what they had begun.
13 Il prend au piège les sages dans leur astuce, et réduit à rien les projets des intrigants.	13 He catches the wise in their cleverness and dissipates the counsel of the perverse.
14 En plein jour les ténèbres les assaillent, ils tâtonnent à midi comme dans la nuit.	14 They will encounter darkness in the daytime, and they will grope at midday just as in the night.
15 Mais Dieu sauve de leur gueule les opprimés, il arrache le faible à la main du violent.	15 Thereafter, he will act to save the needy from the sword of their mouth, and the poor from the hand of the violent.
16 Le pauvre alors reprend espoir: l’injustice? On lui a fermé la bouche.	16 And there will be hope for those in need, for iniquity will diminish its speech.
17 Heureux l’homme que Dieu corrige! ne méprise pas la leçon du Tout-Puissant.	17 Blessed is the man whom God corrects; therefore, do not reject the chastisement of the Lord.
18 Après avoir blessé il soigne la plaie, après avoir meurtri, ses mains guérissent.	18 For he wounds and he cures; he strikes and his hands will heal.
19 Par six fois il te sauve de la détresse, une septième encore? le mal ne t’atteint pas.	19 He will deliver you into six tribulations, and in the seventh, evil will not touch you.
20 Que vienne la famine, il t’arrache à la mort; au combat, il te préservera de l’épée.	20 During famine, he will rescue you from death, and during war, from the hand of the sword.
21 Tu échapperas aux coups de la langue, tu n’auras pas à craindre l’assaut du pillard.	21 You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and you will not fear calamity when it arrives.
22 Les agressions, la pénurie, tu en riras, les bêtes féroces, tu n’en auras pas peur.	22 In desolation and in famine, you will laugh, and you will not dread the beasts of the earth.
23 Plus de pierres dans tes champs: la terre te servira, les bêtes nuisibles feront la paix avec toi.	23 For you are in harmony with the stones of the land, and the beasts of the earth will make peace with you.
24 Tu sauras que tout prospère en ta tente, visitant tes terres, tu n’y verras nul dommage.	24 And you will know that your home has peace, and, concerning your appearance, you will not sin.
25 Sous tes yeux ta race se multipliera, tes rejetons pousseront comme l’herbe des champs.	25 Likewise, you will know that your offspring will be manifold and your progeny will be like the grass of the earth.
26 Tu iras à la tombe quand tu seras mûr, comme une gerbe qu’on ramasse en son temps.	26 You will enter the grave with abundance, just as a crop of wheat is gathered in its time.
27 Tout cela, nous l’avons observé: c’est vrai! nous en sommes témoins, sache-le toi aussi.	27 Behold, this is just as we have found it, which you have heard; walk it through your mind.
