Ezechielis 38

VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Et factus est sermo Domini ad me, dicens :	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 Fili hominis, pone faciem tuam contra Gog, terram Magog, principem capitis Mosoch et Thubal, et vaticinare de eo.	2 'Son of man, turn towards Gog, to the country of Magog, towards the paramount prince of Meshechand Tubal, and prophesy against him.
3 Et dices ad eum : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Ecce ego ad te, Gog, principem capitis Mosoch et Thubal.	3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: I am against you, Gog, paramount prince of Meshech and Tubal.
4 Et circumagam te, et ponam frenum in maxillis tuis : et educam te, et omnem exercitum tuum, equos et equites vestitos loricis universos, multitudinem magnam, hastam et clypeum arripientium et gladium.	4 I shal turn you about, I shall fix hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your entire army, horses andhorsemen, al perfectly equipped, a huge array armed with shields and bucklers, and al wielding swords.
5 Persæ, Æthiopes, et Libyes cum eis, omnes scutati et galeati.	5 Persia and Cush and Put are with them, al with buckler and helmet;
6 Gomer et universa agmina ejus, domus Thogorma, latera aquilonis, et totum robur ejus, populique multi tecum.	6 Gomer and al its troops, Beth-Togarmah in the far north and al its troops, and many nations with you.
7 Præpara et instrue te, et omnem multitudinem tuam quæ coacervata est ad te : et esto eis in præceptum.	7 Be ready, be wel prepared, you and al your troops and the others rallying to you, and hold yourself atmy service.
8 Post dies multos visitaberis : in novissimo annorum venies ad terram quæ reversa est a gladio, et congregata est de populis multis ad montes Israël, qui fuerunt deserti jugiter : hæc de populis educta est, et habitabunt in ea confidenter universi.	8 "Many days will pass before you are given orders; in the final years you wil march on this country,whose inhabitants wil have been living in confidence, remote from other peoples, since they escaped the swordand were gathered in from various nations, here in the long-deserted mountains of Israel.
9 Ascendens autem quasi tempestas venies, et quasi nubes, ut operias terram : tu et omnia agmina tua, et populi multi tecum.	9 Like a storm you wil approach, you wil advance and cover the country like a cloud, you, al yourtroops and many nations with you.
10 Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : In die illa, ascendent sermones super cor tuum, et cogitabis cogitationem pessimam :	10 "The Lord Yahweh says this: That day, a thought wil enter your mind and you wil form a sinisterplan.
11 et dices : Ascendam ad terram absque muro : veniam ad quiescentes habitantesque secure : hi omnes habitant sine muro ; vectes et portæ non sunt eis :	11 You wil think: I shal attack this undefended country and march on this peaceful nation living secure,al living in towns without wal s or bars or gates.
12 ut diripias spolia, et invadas prædam ; ut inferas manum tuam super eos qui deserti fuerant, et postea restituti, et super populum qui est congregatus ex gentibus, qui possidere cœpit et esse habitator umbilici terræ.	12 You wil come to plunder and loot and turn your might against the ruins they live in, against thispeople gathered back from the nations, these stock-breeders and traders who live at the Navel of the World.
13 Saba, et Dedan, et negotiatores Tharsis, et omnes leones ejus, dicent tibi : Numquid ad sumenda spolia tu venis ? ecce ad diripiendam prædam congregasti multitudinem tuam, ut tollas argentum et aurum, et auferas supellectilem atque substantiam, et diripias manubias infinitas.	13 Sheba and Dedan, the merchants and all the magnates of Tarshish wil ask you: Have you come forplunder? Are you massing your troops with a view to looting? To make off with gold and silver, seize cattle and goods, and come away with unlimited spoil?"
14 Propterea vaticinare, fili hominis, et dices ad Gog : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Numquid non in die illo, cum habitaverit populus meus Israël confidenter, scies ?	14 'So, son of man, prophesy. Say to Gog, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Is it not true that you will set outat a time when my people Israel is living secure?
15 Et venies de loco tuo a lateribus aquilonis, tu et populi multi tecum, ascensores equorum universi : cœtus magnus, et exercitus vehemens.	15 You wil leave your home in the far north, you and many nations with you, a great army of countlesstroops all mounted.
16 Et ascendes super populum meum Israël quasi nubes, ut operias terram. In novissimis diebus eris, et adducam te super terram meam : ut sciant gentes me cum sanctificatus fuero in te in oculis eorum, o Gog !	16 You wil invade Israel, my people. You will be like a cloud covering the country. In the final days, Imyself shal bring you to attack my country, so that the nations will know who I am, when I display my holiness tothem, by means of you, Gog.
17 Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Tu ergo ille es, de quo locutus sum in diebus antiquis in manu servorum meorum prophetarum Israël, qui prophetaverunt in diebus illorum temporum, ut adducerem te super eos.	17 "The Lord Yahweh says this: It was of you that I spoke in the past through my servants the prophetsof Israel, who prophesied in those days, foretel ing your invasion.
18 Et erit in die illa, in die adventus Gog super terram Israël, ait Dominus Deus, ascendet indignatio mea in furore meo.	18 The day Gog attacks the land of Israel -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- my furious wrath will boil up. Inmy anger,
19 Et in zelo meo, in igne iræ meæ locutus sum, quia in die illa erit commotio magna super terram Israël :	19 in my jealousy, in the heat of my fury I say it: That day, I swear, there wil be such a huge earthquakein the land of Israel,
20 et commovebuntur a facie mea pisces maris, et volucres cæli, et bestiæ agri, et omne reptile quod movetur super humum, cunctique homines qui sunt super faciem terræ : et subvertentur montes, et cadent sepes, et omnis murus corruet in terram.	20 that the fish in the sea and the birds of heaven, the wild beasts, al the reptiles creeping along theground, and al people on the surface of the earth will quake before me. Mountains wil fall, cliffs crumble, alwal s col apse, and
21 Et convocabo adversus eum in cunctis montibus meis gladium, ait Dominus Deus : gladius uniuscujusque in fratrem suum dirigetur.	21 I shal summon every kind of sword against him -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- and each will turn hissword against his comrade.
22 Et judicabo eum peste, et sanguine, et imbre vehementi, et lapidibus immensis : ignem et sulphur pluam super eum, et super exercitum ejus, et super populos multos qui sunt cum eo.	22 I shal punish him with plague and bloodshed, and rain down torrential rain, hailstones, fire andbrimstone on him, on his troops and on the many nations with him.
23 Et magnificabor, et sanctificabor, et notus ero in oculis multarum gentium : et scient quia ego Dominus.	23 I shal display my greatness and holiness and bring the many nations to acknowledge me; and theywil know that I am Yahweh." '
