1 Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens :	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
2 Hæc loqueris filiis Israël : Homo de filiis Israël, et de advenis qui habitant in Israël, si quis dederit de semine suo idolo Moloch, morte moriatur : populus terræ lapidabit eum.	2 'Say to the Israelites: "Anyone, be he Israelite or alien resident in Israel, who gives any of his childrento Molech, wil be put to death. The people of the country must stone him,
3 Et ego ponam faciem meam contra illum : succidamque eum de medio populi sui, eo quod dederit de semine suo Moloch, et contaminaverit sanctuarium meum, ac polluerit nomen sanctum meum.	3 and I shall set my face against that man and outlaw him from his people; for by giving a child of his toMolech he has defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name.
4 Quod si negligens populus terræ, et quasi parvipendens imperium meum, dimiserit hominem qui dedit de semine suo Moloch, nec voluerit eum occidere :	4 If the people of the country choose to close their eyes to the man's action when he gives a child of histo Molech, and do not put him to death,
5 ponam faciem meam super hominem illum, et super cognationem ejus, succidamque et ipsum, et omnes qui consenserunt ei ut fornicarentur cum Moloch, de medio populi sui.	5 I myself shal turn my face against that man and his clan. I shal outlaw them from their people, bothhim and all those after him who prostitute themselves by fol owing Molech.
6 Anima, quæ declinaverit ad magos et ariolos, et fornicata fuerit cum eis, ponam faciem meam contra eam, et interficiam illam de medio populi sui.	6 "If anyone has recourse to the spirits of the dead or to magicians, to prostitute himself by followingthem, I shal set my face against him and outlaw him from his people.
7 Sanctificamini et estote sancti, quia ego sum Dominus Deus vester.	7 "Sanctify yourselves and be holy, for I am Yahweh your God.
8 Custodite præcepta mea, et facite ea : ego Dominus qui sanctifico vos.	8 "You wil keep my laws and put them into practice, for it is I, Yahweh, who make you holy.
9 Qui maledixerit patri suo, aut matri, morte moriatur : patri matrique maledixit : sanguis ejus sit super eum.	9 Hence: "Anyone who curses father or mother wil be put to death. Having cursed father or mother, theblood wil be on that person's own head.
10 Si mœchatus quis fuerit cum uxore alterius, et adulterium perpetraverit cum conjuge proximi sui, morte moriantur et mœchus et adultera.	10 "The man who commits adultery with his neighbour's wife wil be put to death, he and the woman.
11 Qui dormierit cum noverca sua, et revelaverit ignominiam patris sui, morte moriantur ambo : sanguis eorum sit super eos.	11 "The man who has intercourse with his father's wife has infringed his father's sexual prerogative. Bothof them wil be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
12 Si quis dormierit cum nuru sua, uterque moriatur, quia scelus operati sunt : sanguis eorum sit super eos.	12 "The man who has intercourse with his daughter-in-law: both of them wil be put to death; they haveviolated nature, their blood wil be on their own heads.
13 Qui dormierit cum masculo coitu femineo, uterque operatus est nefas : morte moriantur : sit sanguis eorum super eos.	13 "The man who has intercourse with a man in the same way as with a woman: they have done ahateful thing together; they wil be put to death; their blood wil be on their own heads.
14 Qui supra uxorem filiam, duxerit matrem ejus, scelus operatus est : vivus ardebit cum eis, nec permanebit tantum nefas in medio vestri.	14 "The man who marries a woman and her mother: this is incest. They wil be burnt alive, he and they;you wil not tolerate incest.
15 Qui cum jumento et pecore coierit, morte moriatur : pecus quoque occidite.	15 "The man who has intercourse with an animal will be put to death; you wil kil the animal too.
16 Mulier, quæ succubuerit cuilibet jumento, simul interficietur cum eo : sanguis eorum sit super eos.	16 "The woman who approaches any animal to have intercourse with it: you will kil the woman and theanimal. They wil be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
17 Qui acceperit sororem suam filiam patris sui, vel filiam matris suæ, et viderit turpitudinem ejus, illaque conspexerit fratris ignominiam, nefariam rem operati sunt : occidentur in conspectu populi sui, eo quod turpitudinem suam mutuo revelaverint, et portabunt iniquitatem suam.	17 "The man who marries his father's or his mother's daughter: if they have intercourse together, this isan outrage. They wil be executed in public, for the man has had intercourse with his sister; he wil bear theconsequences of his guilt.
18 Qui coierit cum muliere in fluxu menstruo, et revelaverit turpitudinem ejus, ipsaque aperuerit fontem sanguinis sui, interficientur ambo de medio populi sui.	18 "The man who has intercourse with a woman during her monthly periods and exposes hernakedness: he has laid bare the source of her blood, and she has exposed the source of her blood, and both ofthem wil be outlawed from their people.
19 Turpitudinem materteræ et amitæ tuæ non discooperies : qui hoc fecerit, ignominiam carnis suæ nudavit ; portabunt ambo iniquitatem suam.	19 "You will not have intercourse with your mother's sister or your father's sister. Whoever does so, hashad intercourse with a close relation; they wil bear the consequences of their guilt.
20 Qui coierit cum uxore patrui vel avunculi sui, et revelaverit ignominiam cognationis suæ, portabunt ambo peccatum suum : absque liberis morientur.	20 "The man who has intercourse with the wife of his paternal uncle has infringed his uncle's sexualprerogative; they wil bear the consequences of their guilt and die childless.
21 Qui duxerit uxorem fratris sui, rem facit illicitam : turpitudinem fratris sui revelavit : absque liberis erunt.	21 "The man who marries his brother's wife: this is pol ution; he has infringed his brother's sexualprerogative; they wil die childless.
22 Custodite leges meas, atque judicia, et facite ea : ne et vos evomat terra quam intraturi estis et habitaturi.	22 "You will keep al my laws, al my decisions, and put them into practice, so that the country where Iam taking you to live wil not vomit you out.
23 Nolite ambulare in legitimis nationum, quas ego expulsurus sum ante vos. Omnia enim hæc fecerunt, et abominatus sum eas.	23 You wil not fol ow the laws of the nations whom I am driving out before you; they practised al thesethings, which is why I detested them.
24 Vobis autem loquor. Possidete terram eorum, quam dabo vobis in hæreditatem, terram fluentem lacte et melle. Ego Dominus Deus vester, qui separavi vos a ceteris populis.	24 As I have already told you, you wil take possession of their soil, I myself shal give you possession ofit, a country flowing with milk and honey. "Since I, Yahweh your God, have set you apart from these peoples,
25 Separate ergo et vos jumentum mundum ab immundo, et avem mundam ab immunda : ne polluatis animas vestras in pecore, et avibus, et cunctis quæ moventur in terra, et quæ vobis ostendi esse polluta.	25 you for your part wil make a distinction between clean animals and unclean ones and betweenunclean birds and clean ones, and wil not make yourselves detestable with any animal or bird or reptile, which Ihave set apart from you as unclean.
26 Eritis mihi sancti, quia sanctus sum ego Dominus, et separavi vos a ceteris populis, ut essetis mei.	26 "Be consecrated to me, for I, Yahweh, am holy, and I shall set you apart from all these peoples, foryou to be mine.
27 Vir, sive mulier, in quibus pythonicus, vel divinationis fuerit spiritus, morte moriantur : lapidibus obruent eos : sanguis eorum sit super illos.	27 "Any man or woman of yours who is a necromancer or magician will be put to death; they wil bestoned to death; their blood wil be on their own heads." '
