Lettera ai Filippesi 1

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Paolo e Timoteo, servi di Cristo Gesù, a tutti i santi in Cristo Gesù che sono a Filippi insieme coi vescovi e coi diaconi,	1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all God's holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, togetherwith their presiding elders and the deacons.
2 grazia a voi e pace da Dio nostro Padre e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.	2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Io ringrazio il mio Dio ad ogni ricordo di voi,	3 I thank my God whenever I think of you,
4 sempre in ogni orazione mia pregando con gioia per tutti voi,	4 and every time I pray for you al , I always pray with joy
5 a motivo della vostra partecipazione al Vangelo, dal primo giorno fino ad ora,	5 for your partnership in the gospel from the very first day up to the present.
6 persuaso di questo appunto che chi ha cominciato in voi l'opera buona, la compirà fino al giorno di Gesù Cristo.	6 I am quite confident that the One who began a good work in you wil go on completing it until the Day ofJesus Christ comes.
7 Ed è giusto per me il pensar questo di tutti voi, perchè vi ho nel cuore, come quelli che, e nelle mie catene, e nella difesa e nella confermazione del Vangelo, siete tutti compagni a me nella grazia.	7 It is only right that I should feel like this towards you all, because you have a place in my heart, sinceyou have all shared together in the grace that has been mine, both my chains and my work defending andestablishing the gospel.
8 Poichè Dio mi è testimone che io voglio bene a tutti voi nelle viscere di Cristo Gesù;	8 For God wil testify for me how much I long for you al with the warm longing of Christ Jesus;
9 e questa è la mia preghiera che la nostra carità cresca sempre più e più, in cognizione e in ogni finezza di senso,	9 it is my prayer that your love for one another may grow more and more with the knowledge andcomplete understanding
10 sì da riconoscere voi le cose migliori, affinchè siate schietti e irreprensibili fino al giorno di Cristo,	10 that will help you to come to true discernment, so that you wil be innocent and free of any trace of guiltwhen the Day of Christ comes,
11 ripieni del frutto della giustizia per via di Gesù Cristo, a gloria e lode di Dio.	11 entirely fil ed with the fruits of uprightness through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.
12 E voglio conosciate, o fratelli, che la condizione mia è riuscita ancor più al progresso del Vangelo,	12 Now I want you to realise, brothers, that the circumstances of my present life are helping rather thanhindering the advance of the gospel.
13 sì da esser diventate palesemente catene in Cristo le mie per tutto il pretorio e per tutti gli altri;	13 My chains in Christ have become wel known not only to al the Praetorium, but to everybody else,
14 e molti dei fratelli, avendo per le mie catene fiducia nel Signore osano più che mai parlare, senza alcuna paura, la parola di Dio.	14 and so most of the brothers in the Lord have gained confidence from my chains and are getting moreand more daring in announcing the Message without any fear.
15 Vi son bene alcuni che annunziano Cristo per invidia e spirito di rivalità, ma v'è anche chi lo fa con sentimento di benevolenza;	15 It is true that some of them are preaching Christ out of malice and rivalry; but there are many as welwhose intentions are good;
16 questi per amore, ben sapendo che io qui mi trovo per la difesa del Vangelo;	16 some are doing it out of love, knowing that I remain firm in my defence of the gospel.
17 quegli altri con spirito di rivalità annunziano il Cristo, non sinceramente, nell'idea di suscitarmi tribolazioni nelle mie catene.	17 There are others who are proclaiming Christ out of jealousy, not in sincerity but meaning to add to theweight of my chains.
18 Ma che importa? in ogni modo, sia per pretesto sia con veracità, il Cristo è annunziato, e di ciò io godo. E ancora ne godrò,	18 But what does it matter? Only that in both ways, whether with false motives or true, Christ isproclaimed, and for that I am happy;
19 perchè so che ciò mi riuscirà a salvezza per via delle vostre preghiere e per l'aiuto dello Spirito di Gesù Cristo,	19 and I shal go on being happy, too, because I know that this is what wil save me, with your prayers andwith the support of the Spirit of Jesus Christ;
20 secondo l'aspettazione e la speranza mia che in nulla avrò da vergognarmi; ma in piena libertà di parola, come sempre, così ora sarà magnificato Cristo nella mia persona sia per la vita, sia per la morte.	20 al in accordance with my most confident hope and trust that I shal never have to admit defeat, but withcomplete fearlessness I shall go on, so that now, as always, Christ wil be glorified in my body, whether by mylife or my death.
21 Poichè per me, la vita è Cristo, e il morire un guadagno.	21 Life to me, of course, is Christ, but then death would be a positive gain.
22 E se il vivere nella carne riesce per me frutto del mio apostolato, che cosa io debba preferire non so.	22 On the other hand again, if to be alive in the body gives me an opportunity for fruitful work, I do notknow which I should choose.
23 Son messo alle strette dalle due parti, avendo il desiderio di andarmene ed esser con Cristo, che è molto meglio,	23 I am caught in this dilemma: I want to be gone and to be with Christ, and this is by far the strongerdesire-
24 ma il rimanere nella carne è necessario per voi.	24 and yet for your sake to stay alive in this body is a more urgent need.
25 E in questa fiducia so che rimarrò e che dimorerò con tutti voi, a vostro vantaggio e a gloria della fede;	25 This much I know for certain, that I shal stay and stand by you al , to encourage your advance andyour joy in the faith,
26 affinchè abbondi, a motivo di me, il vostro gloriarvi in Cristo Gesù per via della mia nuova presenza fra voi.	26 so that my return to be among you may increase to overflowing your pride in Jesus Christ on myaccount.
27 Soltanto, conducetevi in modo degno del Vangelo di Cristo, affinchè, sia che io venga a vedervi, sia che rimanga assente, io oda di voi che rimanete saldi in uno spirito, collaborando unanimi per la fede del Vangelo,	27 But you must always behave in a way that is worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come toyou and see for myself or whether I only hear al about you from a distance, I shall find that you are standing firmand united in spirit, battling, as a team with a single aim, for the faith of the gospel,
28 senza lasciarvi atterrire per nulla dagli avversari; ciò che è per loro una causa di perdizione, ma per voi di salvezza, e questa da Dio;	28 undismayed by any of your opponents. This will be a clear sign, for them that they are to be lost, andfor you that you are to be saved.
29 giacchè a voi fu data questa grazia rispetto a Cristo, non solo di credere in lui ma di patire per lui,	29 This comes from God, for you have been granted the privilege for Christ's sake not only of believing inhim but of suffering for him as wel ;
30 sostenendo la stessa lotta quale avete visto in me e ora sentite che continua in me.	30 you are fighting the same battle which you saw me fighting for him and which you hear I am fightingstill.
