Now concerning the collections which are made for the saints: just as I have arranged for the churches of Galatia, so should it also be done with you.1 Now about the collection for God's holy people; you are to do the same as I prescribed for thechurches in Galatia.
On the first day of the week, the Sabbath, let each one of you take from himself, setting aside what will be well-pleasing to him, so that when I arrive, the collections will not have to be made then.2 On the first day of the week, each of you should put aside and reserve as much as each can spare; donot delay the col ection til I arrive.
And when I am present, whomever you shall approve through letters, these I shall send to bear your gifts to Jerusalem.3 When I come, I wil send to Jerusalem with letters of introduction those people you approve to deliveryour gift;
And if it is fitting for me to go too, they shall go with me.4 if it is worth my going too, they can travel with me.
Now I will visit you after I have passed through Macedonia. For I will pass through Macedonia.5 In any case, I shal be coming to you after I have passed through Macedonia, as I have to go throughMacedonia;
And perhaps I will stay with you, and even spend the winter, so that you may lead me on my way, whenever I depart.6 and I may be staying some time with you, perhaps wintering, so that you can start me on my nextjourney, wherever I may be going.
For I am not willing to see you now only in passing, since I hope that I may remain with you for some length of time, if the Lord permits.7 I do not want to make only a passing visit to you, and I am hoping to spend quite a time with you, theLord permitting.
But I must remain at Ephesus, even until Pentecost.8 But I shal remain at Ephesus until Pentecost,
For a door, great and unavoidable, has opened to me, as well as many adversaries.9 for a very promising door is standing wide open to me and there are many against us.
Now if Timothy arrives, see to it that he may be among you without fear. For he is doing the work of the Lord, just as I also do.10 If Timothy comes, make sure that he has nothing to fear from you; he is doing the Lord's work, justas I am,
Therefore, let no one despise him. Instead, lead him on his way in peace, so that he may come to me. For I am awaiting him with the brothers.11 and nobody is to underrate him. Start him off in peace on his journey to come on to me: the brothersand I are waiting for him.
But concerning our brother, Apollo, I am letting you know that I pleaded with him greatly to go to you with the brothers, and clearly it was not his will to go at this time. But he will arrive when there is a space of time for him.12 As for our brother Apollos, I urged him earnestly to come to you with the brothers, but he was quitefirm that he did not want to go yet, and he wil come when he finds an opportunity.
Be vigilant. Stand with faith. Act manfully and be strengthened.13 Be vigilant, stay firm in the faith, be brave and strong.
Let all that is yours be immersed in charity.14 Let everything you do be done in love.
And I beg you, brothers: You know the house of Stephanus, and of Fortunatus, and of Achaicus, that they are the first-fruits of Achaia, and that they have dedicated themselves to the ministry of the saints.15 There is something else I must urge you to do, brothers. You know how Stephanas' family have beenthe first-fruits of Achaia and have devoted themselves to the service of God's holy people;
So you should be subject also to persons such as this, as well as to all who are cooperating and working with them.16 I ask you in turn to put yourselves at the service of people like this and all that work with them in thisarduous task.
Now I rejoice in the presence of Stephanus and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because what was lacking in you, they have supplied.17 I am delighted that Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus have arrived; they have made up foryour not being here.
For they have refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore, recognize persons such as this.18 They have set my mind at rest, just as they did yours; you should appreciate people like them.
The churches of Asia greet you. Aquila and Priscilla greet you greatly in the Lord, with the church of their household, where I also am a guest.19 The churches of Asia send their greetings. Aquila and Prisca send their best wishes in the Lord,together with the church that meets in their house.
All the brothers greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.20 Al the brothers send their greetings. Greet one another with the holy kiss.
This is a greeting from my own hand, Paul.21 This greeting is in my own hand-PAUL.
If anyone does not love our Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema! Maran Atha.22 If there is anyone who does not love the Lord, a curse on such a one. Maran atha.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
My charity is with all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen.24 My love is with you all in Christ Jesus.
