2 Exult before God our helper. Sing joyfully to the God of Jacob.	2 Tu, pastore d'Israele, ascolta, tu che guidi Giuseppe come un gregge, tu che siedi sui cherubini, rifulgi
3 Take up a psalm, and bring forth the timbrel: a pleasing Psalter with stringed instruments.	3 davanti a Efraim, Beniamino e Manasse. Risveglia la tua potenza e vieni in nostro soccorso.
4 Sound the trumpet at the new moon, on the noteworthy day of your solemnity,	4 O Dio delle schiere, rialzaci, fa' splendere il tuo volto e noi saremo salvi.
5 for it is a precept in Israel and a judgment for the God of Jacob.	5 Signore, Dio delle schiere, fino a quando fremerai di sdegno contro la supplica del tuo popolo?
6 He set it as a testimony with Joseph, when he went out of the land of Egypt. He heard a tongue that he did not know.	6 Hai dato loro da mangiare pane di lacrime, hai dato loro da bere lacrime in abbondanza.
7 He turned the burdens away from his back. His hands had been a slave to baskets.	7 Ci hai resi quale scherno dei nostri vicini e i nostri nemici si ridono di noi.
8 You called upon me in tribulation, and I freed you. I heard you within the hidden tempest. I tested you with waters of contradiction.	8 O Dio delle schiere, rialzaci, fa' splendere il tuo volto e noi saremo salvi.
9 My people, listen and I will call you to testify. If, O Israel, you will pay heed to me,	9 Asportasti una vite dall'Egitto e la trapiantasti, dopo aver cacciato via le genti.
10 then there will be no new god among you, nor will you adore a foreign god.	10 Preparasti per essa il terreno; mise radici in modo da riempire la terra.
11 For I am the Lord your God, who led you out of the land of Egypt. Widen your mouth, and I will fill it.	11 Furono coperti i monti della sua ombra e i cedri maestosi dei suoi rami.
12 But my people did not hear my voice, and Israel was not attentive to me.	12 Allungò i suoi tralci fino al mare, sino al fiume i suoi germogli.
13 And so, I sent them away, according to the desires of their heart. They will go forth according to their own inventions.	13 Perché hai abbattuto la sua cinta, in modo che la vendemmiano quanti passano per la via?
14 If my people had heard me, if Israel had walked in my ways,	14 La devasta il cinghiale del bosco e se ne pasce l'animale del campo.
15 I would have humbled their enemies, as if it were nothing, and I would have sent my hand upon those who troubled them.	15 Dio delle schiere, ritorna, guarda dal cielo e vedi, visita questa vigna,
16 The enemies of the Lord have lied to him, and their time will come, in every age.	16 il giardino che la tua destra ha piantato, il germoglio che ti sei coltivato.
17 And he fed them from the fat of the grain, and he saturated them with honey from the rock.	17 L'hanno bruciata col fuoco e l'hanno recisa; possano perire alla minaccia del tuo volto!
	18 Sia la tua mano sull'uomo della tua destra, sul figlio d'uomo che ti sei allevato!
	19 Non ci allontaneremo più da te; ci darai vita e invocheremo il tuo nome.
	20 O Dio delle schiere, rialzaci, fa' splendere il tuo volto e noi saremo salvi.
