1 After this, the fol owing events took place. Absalom son of David had a beautiful sister whose namewas Tamar; Amnon son of David fel in love with her.	1 Ecco quel che avvenne in seguito: Assalonne, figlio di Davide, aveva una bella sorella, di nome Tamar; e Amnon, figlio di Davide, se ne innamorò.
2 Amnon was so obsessed with his sister Tamar that it made him il , since she was a virgin and Amnonthought it impossible to do anything to her.	2 Spasimò tanto che si ammalò a causa di Tamar, sua sorella, perché, essendo vergine, rimaneva difficile agli occhi di Amnon farle qualche cosa.
3 But Amnon had a friend called Jonadab son of Shimeah, David's brother, and Jonadab was a veryshrewd man.	3 Amnon però aveva un amico di nome Ionadàb, figlio di Simeà, fratello di Davide. Ionadàb, uomo molto astuto,
4 'Son of the king,' he said, 'tel me why, morning after morning, you look so worn? Won't you tel me?'Amnon replied, 'I am in love with Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.'	4 gli domandò: "Perché ti consumi di giorno in giorno, o figlio del re? Non me lo puoi dire?". Gli rispose Amnon: "Sono innamorato di Tamar, sorella di Assalonne, mio fratello".
5 Then Jonadab said, 'Take to your bed, pretend to be ill and, when your father comes to visit you, say,"Please let my sister Tamar come and give me something to eat; let her prepare the food where I can see. Whatshe gives me I shal eat." '	5 Ionadàb soggiunse: "Mettiti a letto e datti per malato; tuo padre verrà a vederti e tu gli dirai: "Venga, per piacere, Tamar, mia sorella, a portarmi da mangiare. Preparerà il cibo adatto sotto i miei occhi, perché io possa vedere e mangiare dalla sua mano!".
6 So Amnon lay down and pretended to be ill. The king then came to visit him and Amnon said to theking, 'Please let my sister Tamar come and make a cake or two where I can watch. What she gives me, I shaleat.'	6 Amnon si mise a letto e si dette per malato. Allora il re andò a fargli visita e Amnon disse al re: "Venga, per favore, Tamar, mia sorella, a preparare sotto i miei occhi due tortelle e riuscirò a prendere cibo dalla sua mano".
7 David then sent word to Tamar at the palace, 'Go to your brother Amnon's house and prepare somefood for him.'	7 Davide mandò a dire a Tamar, in casa: "Va' alla casa di Amnon, tuo fratello, e preparagli il cibo adatto".
8 Tamar went to the house of her brother Amnon who was lying there in bed. She took dough andkneaded it, and she made some cakes while he watched, and baked the cakes.	8 Tamar andò a casa di Amnon, suo fratello, che si trovava a letto. Prese la farina e la impastò, preparò le tortelle sotto i suoi occhi e le cosse.
9 She then took the pan and dished them up in front of him, but he refused to eat. Amnon said, 'Leteveryone leave me!' So everyone withdrew.	9 Poi prese la padella e le versò davanti a lui, ma Amnon ricusò di mangiare e dette quest'ordine: "Fate uscire tutti d'attorno a me!". Ognuno uscì d'attorno a lui.
10 Amnon then said to Tamar, 'Bring the food to the inner room, so that I can eat what you give me.' SoTamar took the cakes which she had made and brought them to her brother Amnon in the inner room.	10 Amnon disse a Tamar: "Portami il cibo in camera e mangerò dalla tua mano". Allora Tamar prese le tortelle che aveva fatto e le portò in camera ad Ammon, suo fratello.
11 And as she was offering the food to him, he caught hold of her and said, 'Come to bed with me,sister!'	11 Mentre gliele porgeva a mangiare, egli l'afferrò e le disse: "Vieni, giaci con me, sorella mia".
12 She replied, 'No, brother! Do not force me! This is no way to behave in Israel. Do not do anything sodisgraceful!	12 Ella gli rispose: "No, fratello mio, non mi fare violenza, perché non si usa far così in Israele. Non commettere questa stoltezza!
13 Wherever should I go? I should be marked with this shame, while you would become disgraced inIsrael. Why not go and speak to the king? He wil not refuse to give me to you.'	13 Io dove andrei a portare la mia vergogna? E tu saresti come uno degli stolti in Israele; parlane piuttosto al re, che non mi impedirà di essere tua".
14 But he would not listen to her; he overpowered her and raped her.	14 Ma egli non volle ascoltarla: prevalse su di lei e le fece violenza giacendo con lei.
15 Amnon was then seized with extreme hatred for her; the hatred he now felt for her was greater thanhis earlier love. 'Get up and go!' he said.	15 Poi Amnon prese a odiarla di un odio molto grande: l'odio con cui l'odiava era maggiore dell'amore con cui l'aveva amata. Amnon le disse: "Alzati, vattene!".
16 She said, 'No, brother! To send me away would be worse than the other wrong you have done me!'But he would not listen to her.	16 Ella gli rispose: "Non essere causa di questo male, di cacciarmi via; sarebbe peggiore dell'altro che hai fatto con me". Ma egli non volle darle ascolto.
17 He cal ed his personal servant. 'Rid me of this woman!' he said. 'Throw her out and bolt the doorbehind her!'	17 Chiamato il giovane che lo serviva, gli disse: "Caccia fuori costei e chiudi la porta dietro di lei".
18 (She was wearing a magnificent dress, for this was what the king's unmarried daughters wore indays gone by.) So the servant put her out and bolted the door behind her.	18 Ella indossava un'ampia tunica, perché così vestivano le figlie del re ancora vergini. Il servo la cacciò fuori e chiuse la porta dietro di lei.
19 Tamar put dust on her head, tore the magnificent dress which she was wearing, laid her hand on herhead, and went away, crying aloud as she went.	19 Allora Tamar si cosparse la testa di polvere, stracciò l'ampia tunica che indossava e con le mani in testa se ne andò gridando.
20 Her brother Absalom said to her, 'Has Amnon your brother been with you? Sister, be quiet; he is yourbrother; do not take the matter to heart!' Tamar, however, went back to her brother Absalom's houseinconsolable.	20 Suo fratello Assalonne le domandò: "Forse tuo fratello Amnon è stato con te? Per ora fa' silenzio, sorella mia, egli è tuo fratello. Non ti accorare per questo fatto!". E Tamar se ne rimase desolata in casa di Assalonne, suo fratello.
21 When King David heard the whole story, he was very angry; but he had no wish to harm his sonAmnon, whom he loved because he was his first-born.	21 Il re Davide seppe tutto l'accaduto e se ne adirò assai (ma non volle urtare suo figlio Amnon ch'egli amava molto perché era il suo primogenito).
22 Absalom, however, would not so much as speak to Amnon, since he hated Amnon for having rapedhis sister Tamar.	22 Assalonne non parlò più con Amnon, né in male né in bene, perché Assalonne aveva preso in odio Amnon per la violenza ch'egli aveva fatto a Tamar, sua sorella.
23 Two years later, when Absalom had the sheep-shearers at Baal-Hazor, which is near Ephraim, heinvited al the king's sons.	23 Passarono due anni. Assalonne, avendo i tosatori a Baal-Azòr presso Efraim, invitò tutti i figli del re.
24 Absalom went to the king and said, 'Now sir, your servant has the sheep-shearers. Wil the king andhis retinue be pleased to come with your servant?'	24 Assalonne andò dal re e disse: "Ecco, il tuo servo ha i tosatori, il re si degni di venire con i suoi servi presso il tuo servo".
25 'No, my son,' the king replied, 'we must not al come and be a burden to you.' And though Absalomwas insistent, he would not go but dismissed him.	25 Il re rispose ad Assalonne: "No, figlio mio, non veniamo tutti noi per non esserti di peso". Egli insistette presso di lui, ma non volle andare e gli dette la benedizione.
26 Absalom persisted, 'Then at least let my brother Amnon come with us.' The king said, 'Why should hego with you?'	26 Assalonne soggiunse: "Se è no, venga con noi almeno Amnon, mio fratello". Gli rispose il re: "Perché dovrebbe venire con te?".
27 On Absalom's insistence, however, he let Amnon and al the king's sons to go with him. Absalomprepared a royal banquet	27 Assalonne insisté tanto, che il re mandò con lui Amnon insieme con tutti i figli del re. Assalonne fece un convito da re.
28 and then gave this order to the servants, 'Listen careful y; when Amnon's heart is merry with wineand I say, "Strike Amnon down", then kil him. Don't be afraid. Have I not myself given you the order? Use yourstrength and show your mettle!'	28 Assalonne dette ordine ai suoi servi: "Guardate, quando il cuore di Amnon sarà allegro per il vino e vi dirò: "Colpite Amnon!", uccidetelo. Non abbiate timore! Non sono io che ve lo comando? Siate forti e uomini valorosi!".
29 Absalom's servants treated Amnon as Absalom had ordered. The king's sons al leapt to their feet,mounted their mules and fled.	29 I servi di Assalonne fecero ad Amnon come aveva loro comandato Assalonne. Allora tutti i figli del re si alzarono e, saliti ognuno sul proprio mulo, si dettero alla fuga.
30 While they were on the road, word reached David, 'Absalom has killed all the king's sons; not one ofthem is left.'	30 Mentre essi erano per via, giunse al re questa notizia: "Assalonne ha ucciso tutti i figli del re! Non ne è rimasto neppure uno!".
31 The king stood up, tore his clothes and threw himself on the ground. Al his officers tore their clothestoo.	31 Allora il re si alzò, si stracciò le vesti e si gettò a terra; anche i suoi servi stavano lì tutti, con le vesti stracciate.
32 Jonadab son of Shimeah, David's brother, then spoke up and said, 'Do not let my lord take to heartthe report that al the young men, the king's sons, have been killed, since only Amnon is dead: for Absalom hasbeen promising himself to do this since the day when Amnon raped his sister Tamar.	32 Allora Ionadàb, figlio di Simeà, fratello di Davide, disse: "Non dica il mio signore: "Hanno ucciso tutti i giovani, i figli del re!": è morto solo Amnon; perché per Assalonne ciò era stabilito fin dal giorno in cui Amnon aveva fatto violenza a Tamar, sua sorella.
33 So my lord the king must not imagine that al the king's sons are dead; only Amnon is dead	33 E ora il re, mio signore, non si ponga in cuore una tal cosa dicendo: "Sono morti tutti i figli del re!", perché solo Amnon è morto
34 and Absalom has fled.' The man on sentry duty looked up and saw a large troop coming along theroad from Bahurim. The sentry came to tell the king, 'I have seen some people coming down the Bahurim roadon the mountainside.'	34 e Assalonne si è dato alla fuga". Il giovane che era di sentinella alzò i suoi occhi per osservare: ed ecco, molta gente veniva per la via di Bacurìm, dal lato del monte.
35 Jonadab then said to the king, 'These are the king's sons arriving: what your servant said is exactlywhat happened.'	35 Allora Ionadàb disse al re: "Ecco che giungono i figli del re! E' avvenuto come ha detto il tuo servo".
36 He had scarcely finished speaking when the king's sons arrived and wept aloud; the king and al hisretinue wept aloud too.	36 Finito che ebbe di parlare, ecco arrivare i figli del re, che si misero a piangere ad alta voce. Anche il re e tutti i suoi servi si misero a piangere dirottamente.
37 Absalom had gone to Talmai son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. The king mourned for his son everyday.	37 Assalonne intanto era fuggito per recarsi presso Talmài, figlio di Ammiùd, re di Ghesùr. Il re fece lutto per suo figlio per lunghi giorni.
38 When Absalom had gone to Geshur, he stayed there for three years.	38 Assalonne rimase tre anni a Ghesùr, dov'era fuggito.
39 Once the king was consoled over Amnon's death, his anger against Absalom subsided.	39 Poi lo spirito del re cessò di insorgere contro Assalonne, perché si era ormai consolato della morte di Amnon.
