1 After this, the fol owing events took place. Absalom son of David had a beautiful sister whose namewas Tamar; Amnon son of David fel in love with her.	1 ORA, dopo queste cose, avvenne che, avendo Absalom, figliuolo di Davide, una sorella molto bella, il cui nome era Tamar, Amnon figliuolo di Davide, se ne innamorò.
2 Amnon was so obsessed with his sister Tamar that it made him il , since she was a virgin and Amnonthought it impossible to do anything to her.	2 Ed Amnon era in grande ansietà, fino ad infermare, per amor di Tamar, sua sorella; perciocchè ella era vergine, e gli parea troppo difficil cosa di farle nulla.
3 But Amnon had a friend called Jonadab son of Shimeah, David's brother, and Jonadab was a veryshrewd man.	3 Or Amnon avea un famigliare amico, il cui nome era Ionadab, figliuolo di Sima, fratello di Davide; e Ionadab era uomo molto accorto.
4 'Son of the king,' he said, 'tel me why, morning after morning, you look so worn? Won't you tel me?'Amnon replied, 'I am in love with Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.'	4 Ed esso gli disse: Perchè vai tu così dimagrando ogni mattina, o figliuol del re? non me lo dichiarerai tu? Ed Amnon gli disse: Io amo Tamar, sorella di Absalom, mio fratello.
5 Then Jonadab said, 'Take to your bed, pretend to be ill and, when your father comes to visit you, say,"Please let my sister Tamar come and give me something to eat; let her prepare the food where I can see. Whatshe gives me I shal eat." '	5 E Ionadab gli disse: Mettiti in letto, e fatti infermo: e, quando tuo padre verrà a visitarti, digli: Deh! venga Tamar, mia sorella, e mi dia da mangiare alcuna vivanda, apparecchiandomela in mia presenza; acciocchè, vedutagliela apparecchiare, io la mangi di sua mano.
6 So Amnon lay down and pretended to be ill. The king then came to visit him and Amnon said to theking, 'Please let my sister Tamar come and make a cake or two where I can watch. What she gives me, I shaleat.'	6 Amnon adunque si mise in letto, e si fece infermo; e il re venne a visitarlo. E Amnon gli disse: Deh! venga Tamar, mia sorella, e facciami un par di frittelle in mia presenza, ed io le mangerò di sua mano.
7 David then sent word to Tamar at the palace, 'Go to your brother Amnon's house and prepare somefood for him.'	7 E Davide mandò a dire a Tamar in casa: Or va’ in casa del tuo fratello Amnon, e apparecchiagli qualche vivanda.
8 Tamar went to the house of her brother Amnon who was lying there in bed. She took dough andkneaded it, and she made some cakes while he watched, and baked the cakes.	8 Tamar adunque andò in casa di Amnon, suo fratello, il quale giaceva in letto; ed ella prese della farina stemperata, e l’intrise, e ne fece delle frittelle in presenza di esso, e le cosse.
9 She then took the pan and dished them up in front of him, but he refused to eat. Amnon said, 'Leteveryone leave me!' So everyone withdrew.	9 Poi prese la padella, e le versò davanti a lui; ma egli rifiutò di mangiare, e disse: Fate uscir tutti d’appresso a me. E tutti uscirono d’appresso a lui.
10 Amnon then said to Tamar, 'Bring the food to the inner room, so that I can eat what you give me.' SoTamar took the cakes which she had made and brought them to her brother Amnon in the inner room.	10 Allora Amnon disse a Tamar: Recami questa vivanda nella cameretta, ed io prenderò cibo di tua mano. Tamar adunque prese le frittelle che avea fatte, e le recò ad Amnon suo fratello, nella cameretta,
11 And as she was offering the food to him, he caught hold of her and said, 'Come to bed with me,sister!'	11 e gliele porse, acciocchè mangiasse. Ma egli la prese, e le disse: Vieni, giaci meco, sorella mia.
12 She replied, 'No, brother! Do not force me! This is no way to behave in Israel. Do not do anything sodisgraceful!	12 Ed ella gli disse: No, fratello mio, non violarmi; perciocchè non si deve far così in Israele: non far questa scelleratezza.
13 Wherever should I go? I should be marked with this shame, while you would become disgraced inIsrael. Why not go and speak to the king? He wil not refuse to give me to you.'	13 Ed io, dove caccerei il mio vituperio? e tu saresti reputato uno de’ più scellerati uomini che sieno in Israele; ma ora parlane, ti prego, al re; perciocchè egli non mi ti rifiuterà.
14 But he would not listen to her; he overpowered her and raped her.	14 Ma egli non volle ascoltar la sua voce; anzi le fece forza, e la violò, e giacque con lei.
15 Amnon was then seized with extreme hatred for her; the hatred he now felt for her was greater thanhis earlier love. 'Get up and go!' he said.	15 E poi Amnon l’odiò d’un odio molto grande; perciocchè l’odio che le portava era maggiore che l’amore che le avea portato. Ed egli le disse: Levati, vattene via.
16 She said, 'No, brother! To send me away would be worse than the other wrong you have done me!'But he would not listen to her.	16 Ma ella gli disse: Ei non vi è già cagione di così cacciarmi, che è un male maggiore di quell’altro che tu mi hai fatto. Ma egli non volle ascoltarla.
17 He cal ed his personal servant. 'Rid me of this woman!' he said. 'Throw her out and bolt the doorbehind her!'	17 Anzi chiamò un suo fante che lo serviva, e gli disse: Mandisi ora costei fuori d’appresso a me, e serra l’uscio dietro a lei.
18 (She was wearing a magnificent dress, for this was what the king's unmarried daughters wore indays gone by.) So the servant put her out and bolted the door behind her.	18 Or ella avea indosso una giubba ricamata; perciocchè le figliuole del re, vergini, erano vestite di tali ammanti. Il famiglio di Amnon adunque la mise fuori, e serrò l’uscio dietro a lei.
19 Tamar put dust on her head, tore the magnificent dress which she was wearing, laid her hand on herhead, and went away, crying aloud as she went.	19 E Tamar prese della cenere, e se la mise su la testa, e stracciò la giubba ricamata ch’ella avea indosso, e si pose le mani in sul capo, e andava gridando.
20 Her brother Absalom said to her, 'Has Amnon your brother been with you? Sister, be quiet; he is yourbrother; do not take the matter to heart!' Tamar, however, went back to her brother Absalom's houseinconsolable.	20 Ed Absalom, suo fratello, le disse: Il tuo fratello Amnon è egli stato teco? taci pur ora, sorella mia; egli è tuo fratello, non ti accorare per questa cosa. Tamar adunque dimorò in casa del suo fratello Absalom tutta sconsolata
21 When King David heard the whole story, he was very angry; but he had no wish to harm his sonAmnon, whom he loved because he was his first-born.	21 Ora il re Davide intese tutte queste cose, e ne fu grandemente adirato.
22 Absalom, however, would not so much as speak to Amnon, since he hated Amnon for having rapedhis sister Tamar.	22 Ed Absalom non parlava con Amnon nè in male, nè in bene; perciocchè egli odiava Amnon, perchè avea violata Tamar, sua sorella.
23 Two years later, when Absalom had the sheep-shearers at Baal-Hazor, which is near Ephraim, heinvited al the king's sons.	23 Or avvenne, in capo di due anni, che avendo Absalom i tonditori in Baal-hasor, che è presso di Efraim, egli invitò tutti i figliuoli del re.
24 Absalom went to the king and said, 'Now sir, your servant has the sheep-shearers. Wil the king andhis retinue be pleased to come with your servant?'	24 E venne anche al re, e gli disse: Ecco, ora il tuo servitore ha i tonditori; deh! venga il re, ed i suoi servitori, col tuo servitore.
25 'No, my son,' the king replied, 'we must not al come and be a burden to you.' And though Absalomwas insistent, he would not go but dismissed him.	25 Ma il re disse ad Absalom: No, figliuol mio; deh! non andiamoci tutti, chè non ti siamo di gravezza. E, benchè gliene facesse istanza, non però volle andarvi; ma lo benedisse.
26 Absalom persisted, 'Then at least let my brother Amnon come with us.' The king said, 'Why should hego with you?'	26 E Absalom disse: Se tu non vieni, venga, ti prego, Amnon, mio fratello, con noi. E il re gli disse: Perchè andrebbe egli teco?
27 On Absalom's insistence, however, he let Amnon and al the king's sons to go with him. Absalomprepared a royal banquet	27 Ma Absalom gli fece tanta istanza, che egli mandò con lui Amnon, e tutti i figliuoli del re.
28 and then gave this order to the servants, 'Listen careful y; when Amnon's heart is merry with wineand I say, "Strike Amnon down", then kil him. Don't be afraid. Have I not myself given you the order? Use yourstrength and show your mettle!'	28 E Absalom diede ordine a’ suoi servitori, dicendo: Deh! guardate quando il cuore di Amnon sarà allegro di vino, e che io vi dirò: Percotetelo; allora ammazzatelo, e non temiate; non sono io quello che ve l’ho comandato? confortatevi, e portatevi da valent’uomini.
29 Absalom's servants treated Amnon as Absalom had ordered. The king's sons al leapt to their feet,mounted their mules and fled.	29 E i servitori di Absalom fecero ad Amnon come Absalom avea comandato. E tutti i figliuoli del re si levarono, e montarono ciascuno sopra il suo mulo, e fuggirono
30 While they were on the road, word reached David, 'Absalom has killed all the king's sons; not one ofthem is left.'	30 Ora, mentre erano ancora per cammino, il grido venne a Davide, che Absalom avea percossi tutti i figliuoli del re, e che niuno di loro era scampato.
31 The king stood up, tore his clothes and threw himself on the ground. Al his officers tore their clothestoo.	31 Allora il re si levò, e stracciò i suoi vestimenti, e si coricò in terra; e tutti i suoi servitori gli stavano davanti co’ vestimenti stracciati.
32 Jonadab son of Shimeah, David's brother, then spoke up and said, 'Do not let my lord take to heartthe report that al the young men, the king's sons, have been killed, since only Amnon is dead: for Absalom hasbeen promising himself to do this since the day when Amnon raped his sister Tamar.	32 Ma Ionadab, figliuolo di Sima, fratello di Davide, parlò a Davide, e disse: Il mio signore non dica: Tutti i giovani, figliuoli del re, sono stati uccisi; perciocchè Amnon solo è morto! imperocchè, per lo comandamento di Absalom, è stato eseguito questo, ch’egli avea proposto fin dal giorno che Amnon violò Tamar, sua sorella.
33 So my lord the king must not imagine that al the king's sons are dead; only Amnon is dead	33 Or dunque il re, mio signore, non si metta in cuore questa cosa di dire che tutti i figliuoli del re sieno morti; perciocchè Amnon solo è morto.
34 and Absalom has fled.' The man on sentry duty looked up and saw a large troop coming along theroad from Bahurim. The sentry came to tell the king, 'I have seen some people coming down the Bahurim roadon the mountainside.'	34 Or Absalom se ne fuggì. E il fante che stava alla veletta alzò gli occhi, e riguardò; ed ecco, un gran popolo veniva dalla via di dietro, allato al monte.
35 Jonadab then said to the king, 'These are the king's sons arriving: what your servant said is exactlywhat happened.'	35 E Ionadab disse al re: Ecco, i figliuoli del re vengono; la cosa sta come il tuo servitore ha detto.
36 He had scarcely finished speaking when the king's sons arrived and wept aloud; the king and al hisretinue wept aloud too.	36 E come egli ebbe finito di parlare, ecco, i figliuoli del re arrivarono, ed alzarono la lor voce, e piansero. Il re anch’esso, e tutti i suoi servitori, piansero di un grandissimo pianto.
37 Absalom had gone to Talmai son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. The king mourned for his son everyday.	37 Or Absalom fuggì, e andò a Talmai, figliuolo di Ammihud, re di Ghesur. E Davide ogni giorno facea cordoglio del suo figliuolo.
38 When Absalom had gone to Geshur, he stayed there for three years.	38 E dopo che Absalom se ne fuggì, e fu andato in Ghesur, e fu quivi dimorato tre anni,
39 Once the king was consoled over Amnon's death, his anger against Absalom subsided.	39 il re Davide si struggeva di andare ad Absalom; perciocchè egli era racconsolato intorno ad Amnon, che era morto
