DOUAI-RHEIMSNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Now concerning the collections that are made for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, so do ye also.1 Now in regard to the collection for the holy ones, you also should do as I ordered the churches of Galatia.
On the first day of the week let every one of you put apart with himself, laying up what it shall well please him; that when I come, the collections be not then to be made.2 On the first day of the week each of you should set aside and save whatever one can afford, so that collections will not be going on when I come.
And when I shall be with you, whomsoever you shall approve by letters, them will I send to carry your grace to Jerusalem.3 And when I arrive, I shall send those whom you have approved with letters of recommendation to take your gracious gift to Jerusalem.
And if it be meet that I also go, they shall go with me.4 If it seems fitting that I should go also, they will go with me.
Now I will come to you, when I shall have passed through Macedonia. For I shall pass through Macedonia.5 I shall come to you after I pass through Macedonia (for I am going to pass through Macedonia),
And with you perhaps I shall abide, or even spend the winter: that you may bring me on my way whithersoever I shall go.6 and perhaps I shall stay or even spend the winter with you, so that you may send me on my way wherever I may go.
For I will not see you now by the way, for I trust that I shall abide with you some time, if the Lord permit.7 For I do not wish to see you now just in passing, but I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.8 I shall stay in Ephesus until Pentecost,
For a great door and evident is opened unto me: and many adversaries.9 because a door has opened for me wide and productive for work, but there are many opponents.
Now if Timothy come, see that he be with you without fear, for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.10 If Timothy comes, see that he is without fear in your company, for he is doing the work of the Lord just as I am.
Let no man therefore despise him, but conduct ye him on his way in peace: that he may come to me. For I look for him with the breatheren.11 Therefore no one should disdain him. Rather, send him on his way in peace that he may come to me, for I am expecting him with the brothers.
And touching our brother Apollo, I give you to understand, that I much entreated him to come unto you with the breatheren: and indeed it was not his will at all to come at this time. But he will come when he shall have leisure.12 Now in regard to our brother Apollos, I urged him strongly to go to you with the brothers, but it was not at all his will that he go now. He will go when he has an opportunity.
Watch ye, stand fast in the faith,do manfully, and be strengthened.13 Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong.
Let all your things be done in charity.14 Your every act should be done with love.
And I beseech you, brethren, you know the house of Stephanas, and of Fortunatus, and of Achaicus, that they are the firstfruits of Achaia, and have dedicated themselves to the ministry of the saints:15 I urge you, brothers--you know that the household of Stephanas is the firstfruits of Achaia and that they have devoted themselves to the service of the holy ones--
That you also be subject to such, and to every one that worketh with us, and laboureth.16 be subordinate to such people and to everyone who works and toils with them.
And I rejoice in the presence of Stephanas, and Fortunatus, and Achaicus, because that which was wanting on your part, they have supplied.17 I rejoice in the arrival of Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus, because they made up for your absence,
For they have refreshed both my spirit and yours. Know them, therefore, that are such.18 for they refreshed my spirit as well as yours. So give recognition to such people.
The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house, with whom I also lodge.19 The churches of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Prisca together with the church at their house send you many greetings in the Lord.
All the brethren salute you. Salute one another with a holy kiss.20 All the brothers greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
The salutation of me Paul, with my own hand.21 I, Paul, write you this greeting in my own hand.
If any man love not our Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema, maranatha.22 If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be accursed. Marana tha.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.23 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.
My charity be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.24 My love to all of you in Christ Jesus.
