Unto the end, in verses. A psalm of David. | 1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. |
When I called upon him, the God of my justice heard me: when I was in distress, thou hast enlarged me. Have mercy on me: and hear my prayer. | 2 O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah. |
O ye sons of men, how long will you be dull of heart? why do you love vanity, and seek after lying? | 3 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him. |
Know ye also that the Lord hath made his holy one wonderful: the Lord will hear me when I shall cry unto him. | 4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. |
Be angry, and sin not: the things you say in your hearts, be sorry for them upon your beds. | 5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. |
Offer up the sacrifice of justice, and trust in the Lord: many say, Who sheweth us good things? | 6 There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. |
The light of thy countenance O Lord, is signed upon us: thou hast given gladness in my heart. | 7 Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. |
By the fruit of their corn, their wine and oil, they are multiplied. | 8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. |
In peace in the selfsame I will sleep, and I will rest: | |
for thou, O Lord, singularly hast settled me in hope. |
