Unto the end. A psalm for David. | 1 In finem, pro susceptione matutina. Psalmus David. |
In thy strength, O Lord, the king shall joy; and in thy salvation he shall rejoice exceedingly. | 2 Deus, Deus meus, respice in me : quare me dereliquisti ? longe a salute mea verba delictorum meorum. |
Thou hast given him his heart's desire: end hast not withholden from him the will of his lips. |
For thou hast prevented him with blessings of sweetness: thou hast set on his head a crown of precious stones. | 4 Tu autem in sancto habitas, laus Israël. |
He asked life of thee: and thou hast given him length of days for ever and ever. | 5 In te speraverunt patres nostri ; speraverunt, et liberasti eos. |
His glory is great in thy salvation: glory and great beauty shalt thou lay upon him. |
For thou shalt give him to be a blessing for ever and ever: thou shalt make him joyful in gladness with thy countenance. |
For the king hopeth in the Lord: and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved. | 8 Omnes videntes me deriserunt me ; locuti sunt labiis, et moverunt caput. |
Let thy hand be found by all thy enemies: let thy right hand find out all them that hate thee. | 9 Speravit in Domino, eripiat eum : salvum faciat eum, quoniam vult eum. |
Thou shalt make them as an oven of fire, in the time of thy anger: the Lord shall trouble them in his wrath, and fire shall devour them. |
Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth: and their seed from among the children of men. | 11 In te projectus sum ex utero ; de ventre matris meæ Deus meus es tu : |
For they have intended evils against thee: they have devised counsels which they have not been able to establish. |
For thou shalt make them turn their back: in thy remnants thou shalt prepare their face. | 13 Circumdederunt me vituli multi ; tauri pingues obsederunt me. |
Be thou exalted, O Lord, in thy own strength: we will sing and praise thy power. | 14 Aperuerunt super me os suum, sicut leo rapiens et rugiens. |
Sicut aqua effusus sum, et dispersa sunt omnia ossa mea : factum est cor meum tamquam cera liquescens in medio ventris mei.
Aruit tamquam testa virtus mea, et lingua mea adhæsit faucibus meis : et in pulverem mortis deduxisti me.
Quoniam circumdederunt me canes multi ; concilium malignantium obsedit me. Foderunt manus meas et pedes meos ;
dinumeraverunt omnia ossa mea. Ipsi vero consideraverunt et inspexerunt me.
Diviserunt sibi vestimenta mea, et super vestem meam miserunt sortem.
Tu autem, Domine, ne elongaveris auxilium tuum a me ; ad defensionem meam conspice.
Salva me ex ore leonis, et a cornibus unicornium humilitatem meam.
Narrabo nomen tuum fratribus meis ; in medio ecclesiæ laudabo te.
Qui timetis Dominum, laudate eum ; universum semen Jacob, glorificate eum.
Timeat eum omne semen Israël, quoniam non sprevit, neque despexit deprecationem pauperis, nec avertit faciem suam a me : et cum clamarem ad eum, exaudivit me.
Apud te laus mea in ecclesia magna ; vota mea reddam in conspectu timentium eum.
Manducaverunt et adoraverunt omnes pingues terræ ; in conspectu ejus cadent omnes qui descendunt in terram.
Et anima mea illi vivet ; et semen meum serviet ipsi.
Annuntiabitur Domino generatio ventura ; et annuntiabunt cæli justitiam ejus populo qui nascetur, quem fecit Dominus. |
