Psalms 21

1 Unto the end. A psalm for David.	1 Du maître de chant. Psaume de David.
2 In thy strength, O Lord, the king shall joy; and in thy salvation he shall rejoice exceedingly.	2 En ta force, Yahvé, le roi se réjouit; combien ton salut le comble d'allégresse!
3 Thou hast given him his heart's desire: end hast not withholden from him the will of his lips.	3 Tu lui as accordé le désir de son coeur, tu n'as point refusé le souhait de ses lèvres.
4 For thou hast prevented him with blessings of sweetness: thou hast set on his head a crown of precious stones.	4 Car tu l'as prévenu de bénédictions de choix, tu as mis sur sa tête une couronne d'or fin;
5 He asked life of thee: and thou hast given him length of days for ever and ever.	5 tu lui as accordé la vie qu'il demandait, longueur de jours, encore et à jamais.
6 His glory is great in thy salvation: glory and great beauty shalt thou lay upon him.	6 Grande gloire lui fait ton salut, tu as mis sur lui le faste et l'éclat;
7 For thou shalt give him to be a blessing for ever and ever: thou shalt make him joyful in gladness with thy countenance.	7 oui, tu l'établis en bénédiction pour toujours, tu le réjouis de bonheur près de ta face;
8 For the king hopeth in the Lord: and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.	8 oui, le roi se confie en Yahvé, la grâce du Très-Haut le garde du faux pas.
9 Let thy hand be found by all thy enemies: let thy right hand find out all them that hate thee.	9 Ta main trouvera tous tes adversaires, ta droite trouvera tes ennemis;
10 Thou shalt make them as an oven of fire, in the time of thy anger: the Lord shall trouble them in his wrath, and fire shall devour them.	10 tu feras d'eux une fournaise au jour de ta face, Yahvé les engloutira dans sa colère, le feu lesavalera;
11 Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth: and their seed from among the children of men.	11 leur fruit, tu l'ôteras de la terre, leur semence, d'entre les fils d'Adam.
12 For they have intended evils against thee: they have devised counsels which they have not been able to establish.	12 Ils ont poussé sur toi le malheur, mûri un plan: ils ne pourront rien.
13 For thou shalt make them turn their back: in thy remnants thou shalt prepare their face.	13 Oui, tu leur feras tourner le dos, sur eux tu ajusteras ton arc.
14 Be thou exalted, O Lord, in thy own strength: we will sing and praise thy power.	14 Lève-toi, Yahvé, dans ta force! Nous chanterons, nous jouerons pour ta vaillance.
