Lamentations 5

1 Remember, O Lord, what has befallen us. Consider and look kindly upon our disgrace.	1 Ενθυμηθητι, Κυριε, τι εγεινεν εις ημας? επιβλεψον, και ιδε τον ονειδισμον ημων.
2 Our inheritance has been turned over to foreigners; our houses to outsiders.	2 Η κληρονομια ημων μετεστραφη εις αλλοτριους, αι οικιαι ημων εις ξενους.
3 We have become orphans without a father; our mothers are like widows.	3 Εγειναμεν ορφανοι ανευ πατρος, αι μητερες ημων ως χηραι.
4 We paid for our drinking water. We acquired our wood for a price.	4 Με αργυριον επιομεν το υδωρ ημων? τα ξυλα ημων επωληθησαν εις ημας.
5 We were dragged by our necks. Being weary, no rest was given to us.	5 Επι τον τραχηλον ημων ειναι διωγμος? εμοχθησαμεν, αναπαυσιν δεν εχομεν.
6 We have given our hand to Egypt and to the Assyrians, so that we may be satisfied with bread.	6 Ηπλωσαμεν χειρα προς τους Αιγυπτιους, προς τους Ασσυριους, δια να χορτασθωμεν αρτον.
7 Our fathers have sinned, and are not. And we have carried their iniquities.	7 Οι πατερες ημων ημαρτησαν, εκεινοι δεν υπαρχουσι? και ημεις φερομεν τας ανομιας αυτων.
8 Servants have become rulers over us. There was no one to redeem us from their hand.	8 Δουλοι εξουσιαζουσιν εφ' ημας? δεν υπαρχει ο λυτρονων εκ της χειρος αυτων.
9 We obtained our bread at the risk of our lives, before the face of the sword, in the wilderness.	9 Φερομεν τον αρτον ημων μετα κινδυνου της ζωης ημων, απ' εμπροσθεν της ρομφαιας της ερημου.
10 Our skin was burned, as if by an oven, before the face of the tempest of the famine.	10 Το δερμα ημων ημαυρωθη ως κλιβανος, απο της καυσεως της πεινης.
11 They humiliated the women in Zion and the virgins in the cities of Judah.	11 Εταπεινωσαν τας γυναικας εν Σιων, τας παρθενους εν ταις πολεσιν Ιουδα.
12 The leaders were suspended by their hand. They were not ashamed before the faces of the elders.	12 Οι αρχοντες εκρεμασθησαν υπο των χειρων αυτων? τα προσωπα των πρεσβυτερων δεν ετιμηθησαν.
13 They have sexually abused the adolescents, and the children were corrupted in the wood.	13 Οι νεοι υπεβληθησαν εις το αλεσμα, και τα παιδια επεσον υπο τα ξυλα.
14 The elders have ceased from the gates, the youths from the choir of the psalms.	14 Οι πρεσβυτεροι επαυσαν απο των πυλων, οι νεοι απο των ασματων αυτων.
15 The gladness of our heart has failed, our singing has been turned into mourning.	15 Επαυσεν η χαρα της καρδιας ημων, ο χορος ημων εστραφη εις πενθος.
16 The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned.	16 Ο στεφανος της κεφαλης ημων επεσεν? ουαι δε εις ημας, διοτι ημαρτησαμεν.
17 Because of this, our heart became gloomy; for this reason, our eyes have been darkened:	17 Δια τουτο εξελιπεν η καρδια ημων, δια ταυτα εσκοτοδινιασαν οι οφθαλμοι ημων.
18 because of mount Zion, because it was ruined. Foxes have wandered upon it.	18 Δια την ερημωσιν του ορους Σιων, αι αλωπεκες περιπατουσιν εν αυτω.
19 But you, O Lord, shall remain for eternity, your throne from generation to generation.	19 Συ, Κυριε, κατοικεις εις τον αιωνα? ο θρονος σου διαμενει εις γενεαν και γενεαν.
20 Why would you forget us forever? Why would you forsake us for a long time?	20 Δια τι θελεις μας λησμονησει δια παντος; θελεις μας εγκαταλειψει εις μακροτητα ημερων;
21 Convert us, O Lord, to you, and we shall be converted. Renew our days, as from the beginning.	21 Επιστρεψον ημας, Κυριε, προς σε και θελομεν επιστραφη. Ανανεωσον τας ημερας ημων ως το προτερον.
22 But you have utterly rejected us; you are vehemently angry against us.	22 Διατι απερριψας ημας ολοτελως, ωργισθης εναντιον ημων εως σφοδρα;
