3 At that time, his lamp shined over my head, and by his light, I walked through the darkness.	3 Allorché il suo lume risplendeva sulla mia testa, e tralle tenebre io camminava guidato dalla sua luce.
4 I was then just as in the days of my youth, when God was privately in my tabernacle.	4 Qual era ne' giorni di mia giovinezza allorché Dio segretamente si stava nella mia tenda.
5 At that time, the Almighty was with me and my children surrounded me.	5 Quando meco si stava l'Onnipotente, e attorno a me tutti i miei figli
6 Then, I washed my feet with butter, and a boulder poured out rivers of oil for me.	6 Quand'io col burro ungeva i miei piedi, e da' massi sgorgavano rividi olio per me.
7 When I went to the gate of the city, or to the main street, they prepared a chair for me.	7 Quand'io me n'andava alla porta della città, e nella piazza mi preparavano la residenza.
8 The youths saw me and hid themselves, and the elders, rising up, remained standing.	8 In reggendomi i giovani si ritirivano, e i vecchi si alzavano, e stavano in piedi.
9 The leaders stopped talking, and they placed a finder over their mouth.	9 I principi più non fiatavano, e mettevano il dito sulle lor labbra.

14 I put on justice, and I clothed myself with my judgment, like a robe and a diadem.	14 Mi rivestii di giustizia, e della mia equità mi adornai come di manto, e di diadema.
15 I was an eye for the blind and a foot for the lame.	15 Io fui occhio al cieco, e piede allo zoppo.
16 I was the father of the poor; and if I lacked knowledge about any case, I investigated very diligently.	16 Io era il padre de' poveri, e delle cause a me ignote faceva diligentissima inquisizione.
17 I crushed the jaws of the impious, and I took away prey from his teeth.	17 Io spezzava le mascelle a' malvagj, e strappava lor di tra i denti la preda.
18 And I said, “I will die in my little nest, and like a palm tree, I will multiply my days.	18 E diceva: Io morrò nel mio nido, e come la palma moltiplicherò i miei giorni.
19 My root has been spread beside the waters, and the dew will remain with my harvest.	19 La mia radice diffondesi lungo le acque, e la rugiada si poserà su' miei rami.
20 My glory will always be restored, and my bow will be restored to my hand.”	20 Sempre nuova sarà la mia gloria, e il mio arco sarà sempre più forte nella mia mano.
21 Those who heard me, expected vindication, and they listened closely in silence to my counsel.	21 Quelli che mi ascoltavano aspettavano il mio parere, e in silenzio stavano attenti al mio consiglio.
22 To my words, they dared to add nothing, and my eloquence poured over them.	22 Non ardivano di aggiunger cosa alle mie parole, e i miei discorsi cadevano a stille sopra di loro.
23 They waited for me as for rain, and they opened their mouth as for belated rains.	23 Ma essi aspettavano come la pioggia, e aprivano la loro bocca, come alla piova della tarda stagione.
24 If I had ever laughed at them, they would not have believed it, and the light of my face was not cast down towards the ground.	24 Se qualche volta io scherzava con essi, non sei credevano, e la ilarità del mio volto non era senza il suo frutto.
25 If I wished to go to them, I sat down first, and, though I sat like a king surrounded by an army, yet I was a comforter to whose who mourned.	25 Se io voleva andare tra loro, stava assiso nel primo posto, e sedendo qual re circondato di armati, era con tutto ciò il consolator degli afflitti.
