A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, you have been our refuge through all generations.1 The Praise of a Canticle, of David. Whoever dwells with the assistance of the Most High will abide in the protection of the God of heaven.
Before the mountains were born, the earth and the world brought forth, from eternity to eternity you are God.2 He will say to the Lord, “You are my supporter and my refuge.” My God, I will hope in him.
But humans you return to dust, saying, "Return, you mortals!"3 For he has freed me from the snare of those who go hunting, and from the harsh word.
A thousand years in your eyes are merely a yesterday,4 He will overshadow you with his shoulders, and you will hope under his wings.
you have brought them to their end; They disappear like sleep at dawn; they are like grass that dies.5 His truth will surround you with a shield. You will not be afraid: before the terror of the night,
It sprouts green in the morning; by evening it is dry and withered.6 before the arrow flying in the day, before the troubles that wander in the darkness, nor of invasion and the midday demon.
Truly we are consumed by your anger, filled with terror by your wrath.7 A thousand will fall before your side and ten thousand before your right hand. Yet it will not draw near you.
You have kept our faults before you, our hidden sins exposed to your sight.8 So then, truly, you will consider with your eyes, and you will see the retribution of sinners.
Our life ebbs away under your wrath; our years end like a sigh.9 For you, O Lord, are my hope. You have set the Most High as your refuge.
Seventy is the sum of our years, or eighty, if we are strong; Most of them are sorrow and toil; they pass quickly, we are all but gone.10 Disaster will not draw near to you, and the scourge will not approach your tabernacle.
Who comprehends your terrible anger? Your wrath matches the fear it inspires.11 For he has given his Angels charge over you, so as to preserve you in all your ways.
Teach us to count our days aright, that we may gain wisdom of heart.12 With their hands, they will carry you, lest you hurt your foot against a stone.
Relent, O LORD! How long? Have pity on your servants!13 You will walk over the asp and the king serpent, and you will trample the lion and the dragon.
Fill us at daybreak with your love, that all our days we may sing for joy.14 Because he has hoped in me, I will free him. I will protect him because he has known my name.
Make us glad as many days as you humbled us, for as many years as we have seen trouble.15 He will cry out to me, and I will heed him. I am with him in tribulation. I will rescue him, and I will glorify him.
Show your deeds to your servants, your glory to their children.16 I will fill him with length of days. And I will reveal to him my salvation.
May the favor of the Lord our God be ours. Prosper the work of our hands! Prosper the work of our hands!
