EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Salmo de Asaf. ¡Qué bueno es Dios para Israel, para los limpios de corazón!	1 [Psalm Of Asaph] Indeed God is good to Israel, the Lord to those who are pure of heart.
2 Pero casi se desvían mis pasos, faltó poco para que diera un traspié,	2 My feet were on the point of stumbling, a little more and I had slipped,
3 porque tuve envidia de los presuntuosos, al ver la prosperidad de los malvados.	3 envying the arrogant as I did, and seeing the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Para ellos no hay sufrimientos, su cuerpo está sano y robusto;	4 For them no such thing as pain, untroubled, their comfortable portliness;
5 no comparten las penas de los hombres ni son golpeados como los demás.	5 exempt from the cares which are the human lot, they have no part in Adam's afflictions.
6 Por eso, el orgullo es su collar y la violencia, el manto que los cubre;	6 So pride is a necklace to them, violence the garment they wear.
7 la malicia se les sale por los poros, su corazón rebosa de malos propósitos.	7 From their fat oozes out malice, their hearts drip with cunning.
8 Se burlan y hablan con maldad; desde lo alto, amenazan con prepotencia;	8 Cynical y they advocate evil, loftily they advocate force.
9 su boca se insolenta contra el cielo y su lengua se pasea por la tierra.	9 Their mouth claims heaven for themselves, and their tongue is never stil on earth.
10 Por eso, el pueblo de Dios se vuelve hacia ellos, y beben el agua a raudales.	10 That is why my people turn to them, and enjoy the waters of plenty,
11 Ellos dicen: «¿Acaso Dios lo va a saber? ¿Se va a enterar el Altísimo?»	11 saying, 'How can God know? What knowledge can the Most High have?'
12 Así son esos malvados y, siempre tranquilos, acrecientan sus riquezas.	12 That is what the wicked are like, piling up wealth without any worries.
13 Entonces, ¿en vano mantuve puro mi corazón y lavé mis manos en señal de inocencia?	13 Was it useless, then, to have kept my own heart clean, to have washed my hands in innocence?
14 Porque yo era golpeado todo el día y cada mañana soportaba mi castigo.	14 When I was under a hail of blows al day long, and punished every morning,
15 Si hubiera dicho: «Voy a hablar como ellos», habría traicionado al linaje de tus hijos.	15 had I said, 'I shal talk like them,' I should have betrayed your children's race.
16 Yo reflexionaba, tratando de entenderlo, pero me resultaba demasiado difícil.	16 So I set myself to understand this: how difficult I found it!
17 ¡Hasta que entré en el Santuario de Dios y comprendí el fin que les espera!	17 Until I went into the sanctuaries of the gods and understood what was destined to become of them.
18 Sí, tú los pones en un terreno resbaladizo y los precipitas en la ruina.	18 You place them on a slippery slope and drive them down into chaos.
19 ¡Qué pronto quedan devastados y acaban consumidos por el horror!	19 How sudden their hideous destruction! They are swept away, annihilated by terror!
20 Son como un sueño al despertar, Señor; al levantarte, disipas hasta su imagen.	20 Like a dream upon waking, Lord, when you awake, you dismiss their image.
21 Cuando se agriaba mi corazón y me torturaba en mi interior,	21 My heart grew embittered, my affections dried up,
22 yo era un necio y no comprendía, era como un animal ante ti.	22 I was stupid and uncomprehending, a clumsy animal in your presence.
23 Pero yo estoy siempre contigo, tú me has tomado de la mano derecha;	23 Even so, I stayed in your presence, you grasped me by the right hand;
24 me guiarás con tu consejo y después, me recibirás con gloria.	24 you will guide me with advice, and wil draw me in the wake of your glory.
25 ¿A quién sino a ti tengo yo en el cielo? Si estoy contigo, no deseo nada en la tierra.	25 Who else is there for me in heaven? And, with you, I lack nothing on earth.
26 Aunque mi corazón y mi carne se consuman, Dios es mi herencia para siempre y la Roca de mi corazón.	26 My heart and my flesh are pining away: my heart's rock, my portion, God for ever!
27 Los que se apartan de ti terminan mal, tú destruyes a los que te son infieles.	27 Truly, those who abandon you will perish; you destroy those who adulterously desert you,
28 Mi dicha es estar cerca de Dios: yo he puesto mi refugio en ti, Señor, para proclamar todas tus acciones.	28 whereas my happiness is to be near God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, to tel of al yourworks.
