Epistola di San Iacobo Apostolo 5

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Fate voi ora, ricchi, (penitenza); e piangete urlando nelle miserie vostre, le quali verranno a voi.	1 Well now, you rich! Lament, weep for the miseries that are coming to you.
2 Le vostre ricchezze son imputridite, e le vostre vestimenta son manducate dalle tignuole.	2 Your wealth is rotting, your clothes are al moth-eaten.
3 L'oro e l'argento vostro è irrugginito; e la ruggine loro sarà a voi in testimonio, e manducherà le carni vostre, sì come il fuoco. A voi tesaurizzaste ira nelli ultimi giorni.	3 Al your gold and your silver are corroding away, and the same corrosion wil be a witness against youand eat into your body. It is like a fire which you have stored up for the final days.
4 Ecco, la mercè degli operatori vostri, li quali mieterono le vostre contrade, la quale è fraudata da voi, grida; e il grido loro è entrato nelle orecchie del Signore dell' oste.	4 Can you hear crying out against you the wages which you kept back from the labourers mowing yourfields? The cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord Sabaoth.
5 Voi siete satolli sopra la terra; e nelle lussurie vostre nutricaste li vostri cuori nel dì dell' uccisione.	5 On earth you have had a life of comfort and luxury; in the time of slaughter you went on eating to yourheart's content.
6 Menaste il giusto, e uccideste; e non contrastette a voi.	6 It was you who condemned the upright and killed them; they offered you no resistance.
7 Adunque, fratelli, siate sofferenti insino all'avvenimento del Signore. Ecco, il lavoratore aspetta il prezioso frutto della terra, umilmente sofferendo infino a tanto ch' egli riceverà il temporale e il serotino.	7 Now be patient, brothers, until the Lord's coming. Think of a farmer: how patiently he waits for theprecious fruit of the ground until it has had the autumn rains and the spring rains!
8 E voi siate sofferenti, e confermate li vostri cuori; però che l'avvenimento del Signore s' approsmerà.	8 You too must be patient; do not lose heart, because the Lord's coming will be soon.
9 Non vogliate, fratelli, combattere l'uno l'altro, acciò che voi non siate giudicati. Ecco, il giudice sta dinanzi alla porta.	9 Do not make complaints against one another, brothers, so as not to be brought to judgementyourselves; the Judge is already to be seen waiting at the gates.
10 Fratelli, ricevete l'esempio della fatica e della sofferenza de' profeti, li quali hanno parlato nel nome del Signore.	10 For your example, brothers, in patiently putting up with persecution, take the prophets who spoke inthe Lord's name;
11 Ecco che noi facciamo beati coloro che sofferseno. La sofferenza di Iob udiste, e la fine del Signore vedeste; imperò ch' egli è misericordioso il Signore, e fattore di misericordia.	11 remember it is those who had perseverance that we say are the blessed ones. You have heard of theperseverance of Job and understood the Lord's purpose, realising that the Lord is kind and compassionate.
12 Ma dinanzi a tutte le cose, fratelli miei, non vogliate giurare, nè per il cielo, nè per la terra, nè per alcuno altro sacramento; ma sia la vostra parola: sì sì, non non, acciò che non caschiate sotto il giudicio.	12 Above al , my brothers, do not swear by heaven or by the earth or use any oaths at al . If you mean'yes', you must say 'yes'; if you mean 'no', say 'no'. Otherwise you make yourselves liable to judgement.
13 Ma s' egli è contristato alcuno di voi, adori; [s' è] con diritto animo, rallegrisi.	13 Any one of you who is in trouble should pray; anyone in good spirits should sing a psalm.
14 Se inferma alcuno di voi, meni li preti della Chiesa; e orino sopra lui, ungendolo coll' olio nel nome del Signore.	14 Any one of you who is il should send for the elders of the church, and they must anoint the sickperson with oil in the name of the Lord and pray over him.
15 E la orazione della fede salverà l'infermo, e alleverallo il Signore; e se sarà in peccati, fieno perdonati a lui.	15 The prayer of faith will save the sick person and the Lord wil raise him up again; and if he hascommitted any sins, he wil be forgiven.
16 Adunque confessate intra voi le vostre peccata, e orate l' uno per l' altro, acciò che voi vi salviate; imperò che molto vale l'orazione del giusto assiduamente.	16 So confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another to be cured; the heartfelt prayer ofsomeone upright works very powerful y.
17 Elia era uomo simigliante di noi, passibile; e con orazione orò che non piovesse sopra la terra, e non piovve per tre anni e sei mesi.	17 Elijah was a human being as frail as ourselves -- he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, and no rain felfor three and a half years;
18 E dopo orò; e il cielo diede la piova, e la terra diede il frutto suo.	18 then he prayed again and the sky gave rain and the earth gave crops.
19 Fratelli miei, se alcuno di voi errerà dalla verità, e alcuno convertirà lui,	19 My brothers, if one of you strays away from the truth, and another brings him back to it,
20 dee sapere che quello il quale farà convertire il peccatore dell' errore della via sua, salverà l'anima sua dalla morte, e coprirà la moltitudine delle (sue) peccata.	20 he may be sure that anyone who can bring back a sinner from his erring ways wil be saving his soulfrom death and covering over many a sin.
