| 1 (Lo idolo delli Babilonii chiamato) Bel sarà colato, e Nabo (cioè lo idolo delli Filistini) sarà spezzato; e tutti i loro idoli saranno disfatti (e distrutti), i quali sono simili alle bestie e alle giumente; li vostri carichi doventeranno fracidi con gran pesi insino alla grave faticazione. | 1 Bel bows down, Nebo stoops, their idols are on beasts and cattle; these things you carry are loaded as burdens on weary beasts. |
| 2 (Cioè insino a tanto che) furono istanchi, e sono spezzati insieme; non poterono salvare quello che li portava, e la loro anima anderà in prigione. | 2 They stoop, they bow down together, they cannot save the burden, but themselves go into captivity. |
| 3 O casa di Iacob, udite me, e tutto lo rimanente della casa d' Israel, i quali siete portati (cioè sostenuti) dal mio ventre, e siete (portati e) nutricati da me. | 3 "Hearken to me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by me from your birth, carried from the womb; |
| 4 Io vi porterò insino alla vecchiaia, e insino ch' io sarò vecchio colli capelli canuti; io v' ho fatti, io vi sopporterò, e salverovvi. | 4 even to your old age I am He, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save. |
| 5 A cui avete voi assomigliato me, e a cui m' avete agguagliato, e a cui comparazione mi faceste voi simile? | 5 "To whom will you liken me and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be alike? |
| 6 I quali portate l'oro col sacco, e pesate l'argento colla stadera, e conducete li orefici acciò che vi facciano lo iddio vostro; e inginocchiansi e adoranlo. | 6 Those who lavish gold from the purse, and weigh out silver in the scales, hire a goldsmith, and he makes it into a god; then they fall down and worship! |
| 7 E portanlo in su le spalle, e pongonlo nel suo luogo; e starà saldo, e non sarà mosso del suo luogo; ma conciosia cosa che gridino a lui, non li udirà e non salverà delle tribulazioni. | 7 They lift it upon their shoulders, they carry it, they set it in its place, and it stands there; it cannot move from its place. If one cries to it, it does not answer or save him from his trouble. |
| 8 Ricordivi di questo, e siate fondati; e voi che siete prevaricatori, ritornate al cuore vostro. | 8 "Remember this and consider, recall it to mind, you transgressors, |
| 9 E ricordivi del primo secolo; però che io sono Iddio, e non è altro che sia simile a me. | 9 remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, |
| 10 Però ch' io annuncio dal principio insino alla fine, e dal cominciamento quello che ancora non è stato, e dico: lo mio consiglio starà fermo, e sarà fatto ogni mia volontade; | 10 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,' |
| 11 il quale chiamo l' uccello da oriente, e dalla terra lontana l'uomo della mia volontà; e parlai (a me), e menerò quello; io lo creai, e farò quello. | 11 calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it. |
| 12 Udite me, voi che (siete e che) avete sì duro cuore, e che siete di lungi della giustizia. | 12 "Hearken to me, you stubborn of heart, you who are far from deliverance: |
| 13 Io feci la mia giustizia appresso; e non sarà allungata, e la mia salute non tardarà. Darò in Sion salute, e la mia gloria in Israel. | 13 I bring near my deliverance, it is not far off, and my salvation will not tarry; I will put salvation in Zion, for Israel my glory." |
