BIBBIA VOLGARE	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Al Signore confessate, e invocate il nome suo; raccontate tra le genti l'opere sue.	1 Alleluia. Confess to the Lord, and invoke his name. Announce his works among the nations.
2 Cantatelo e laudatelo; narrate tutte le maraviglie sue.	2 Sing to him, and sing psalms to him. Describe all his wonders.
3 Laudatevi nel nome santo suo; rallegrisi il cuore delli cercanti il Signore.	3 Be praised in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
4 Cercate il Signore e confessateli; sempre cercate la faccia sua.	4 Seek the Lord, and be confirmed. Seek his face always.
5 Ricordatevi delle sue maraviglie, che ha fatto; li suoi segnali e gli giudicii della bocca sua.	5 Remember his miracles, which he has done, his portents and the judgments of his mouth:
6 Del seme di Abraam, servo suo; del figliuolo di Iacob, eletto suo.	6 you offspring of Abraham his servant, you sons of Jacob his elect.
7 Egli è il Signore Iddio nostro; in tutta la terra sono li giudicii suoi.	7 He is the Lord our God. His judgments are throughout the entire earth.
8 Sempre si ha ricordato del testamento suo; della parola che lui ha comandato in mille generazioni;	8 He has remembered his covenant for all ages: the word that he entrusted to a thousand generations,
9 il quale ordinò ad Abraam; e del giuramento fece ad Isaac.	9 which he assigned to Abraham, and his oath to Isaac.
10 E quello ordinò a Iacob in comandamento, e a Israel in promissione eterna,	10 And he stationed the same for Jacob with a precept, and for Israel with an eternal testament,
11 dicendo: darotti la terra di Canaan, in divisione della vostra eredità.	11 saying: To you, I will give the land of Canaan, the allotment of your inheritance.
12 Essendo gli suoi abitatori di piccolo numero, e pochissimi,	12 Though they may have been but a small number, very few and foreigners there,
13 e' passorono di gente in gente, e dal regno a uno altro popolo.	13 and though they passed from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people,
14 Non lasciò nocerli all' uomo; e per loro castigò li re.	14 he allowed no man to harm them, and he reproved kings on their behalf.
15 Non vogliate toccare li cristi miei; e nei miei profeti non vogliate malignare.	15 Do not be willing to touch my Christ, and do not be willing to malign my prophets.
16 E chiamò la fame sopra la terra; e spezzò ogni firmamento di pane.	16 And he called a famine upon the land, and he crushed every foundation of the bread.
17 Mandò dinanzi a loro l'uomo; in servo fu venduto Iosef.	17 He sent a man before them: Joseph, who had been sold as a slave.
18 Isbassorono li suoi piedi ne' ceppi; il ferro trapassò l'anima sua,	18 They humbled his feet in shackles; the iron pierced his soul,
19 insino che venisse la parola sua. Il parlare del Signore infiammò quello;	19 until his word arrived. The eloquence of the Lord inflamed him.
20 mandò il re, e sciolselo; il principe de' popoli, e lasciò lui.	20 The king sent and released him; he was the ruler of the people, and he dismissed him.
21 Ordinollo in signore della casa sua; e principe di tutta la possessione sua;	21 He established him as master of his house and ruler of all his possessions,
22 acciò che ammaestrasse gli suoi principi come sè stesso; e alli suoi vecchi insegnasse prudenza.	22 so that he might instruct his princes as himself, and teach his elders prudence.
23 E Israel entrò in Egitto; e Iacob fu peregrino nella terra di Cam.	23 And Israel entered into Egypt, and Jacob became a sojourner in the land of Ham.
24 E accrescette il popolo suo molto; e quello firmò sopra li suoi nemici.	24 And he helped his people greatly, and he strengthened them over their enemies.
25 Convertì loro cuore, per che odiasse il popolo suo, e facesse inganno ne' servi suoi.	25 He turned their heart to hate his people, and to deal deceitfully with his servants.
26 Mandò Moisè servo suo; Aaron che ha eletto.	26 He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, the one whom he chose.
27 Ne' quali puose le parole de' segni suoi, e delle maraviglie nella terra di Cam.	27 He placed with them signs of his word, and portents in the land of Ham.
28 Mandò le tenebre, e scurogli; e non adempì li suoi parlari.	28 He sent darkness and made it conceal, and he did not afflict them with his speech.
29 Loro acque convertì in sangue; e uccise loro pesci.	29 He turned their waters into blood, and he slaughtered their fish.
30 E loro terra dette le rane nelle camere secrete delli re loro.	30 Their land brought forth frogs, even in the inner chambers of their kings.
31 Disse, e venne la mosca canina; e le mosche piccoline in tutti li suoi confini.	31 He spoke, and there came forth common flies and gnats, in every region.
32 Puose loro pioggie in tempesta; nella loro terra il fuoco ardente.	32 He gave them a shower of hail and a burning fire, in the same land.
33 E percosse loro vigne e loro fichi; e spezzò il legno de' suoi confini.	33 And he struck their vineyards and their fig trees, and he crushed the trees of their region.
34 Disse, e venne la locusta, e loro figliuoli, de' quali non era numero.	34 He spoke, and the locust came forth, and the caterpillar, of which there was no number.
35 Egli mangiò il fieno nella loro terra; e mangid ogni frutto della loro terra.	35 And it devoured all the grass in their land, and it consumed all the fruit of their land.
36 E percosse ogni primogenito nella loro terra; le primizie di [ogni] loro fatica.	36 And he struck all the first-born in their land, the first-fruits of all their labor.
37 E menolli fuori con argento e auro; e nelle loro tribù non era infermo.	37 And he led them out with silver and gold, and there was not an infirm one among their tribes.
38 Rallegrossi l'Egitto nel loro partimento; per che sopra loro giacque il loro timore.	38 Egypt was joyful at their departure, for the fear of them lay heavy upon them.
39 Spargette la nube in loro defensione, e il fuoco acciò a loro lucesse nella notte.	39 He spread a cloud for their protection, and a fire, to give them light through the night.
40 Addimandorono, e venne la coturnice; e satollolli del pane del cielo.	40 They petitioned, and the quail came; and he satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41 Spezzò la pietra, e corsero le acque; andarono li fiumi per il secco.	41 He ruptured the rock and the waters flowed: rivers gushed in the dry land.
42 Però che si arricordò della parola santa sua, ch' ebbe con Abraam servo suo.	42 For he had called to mind his holy word, which he kept near to his servant Abraham.
43 E menò il suo popolo con allegrezza, e' suoi eletti con letizia.	43 And he led forth his people in exultation, and his elect in rejoicing.
44 E a loro dètte le regioni delle genti; e possedettero le fatiche de' popoli;	44 And he gave them the regions of the Gentiles, and they possessed the labors of the peoples,
45 acciò osservino le giustificazioni sue, e cerchino la legge sua.	45 so that they might observe his justifications, and inquire about his law.
