1 Intanto Giosuè si era fatto vecchio e avanzato negli anni. Perciò gli disse il Signore: "Tu sei diventato vecchio e avanzato negli anni, e il paese ti è rimasto ancora in gran parte da conquistare.	1 Now Joshua was old and advanced in years; and the LORD said to him, "You are old and advanced in years, and there remains yet very much land to be possessed.
2 Questo è il paese che resta: tutti i distretti dei Filistei e tutto il paese dei Ghesuriti,	2 This is the land that yet remains: all the regions of the Philistines, and all those of the Geshurites
3 dal Sicor, che sta sul confine con l'Egitto, fino al confine di Accaron a nord, regione attribuita ai Cananei; i cinque principati dei Filistei, cioè Gaza, Asdod, Ascalon, Gat, Accaron, con gli Evei	3 (from the Shihor, which is east of Egypt, northward to the boundary of Ekron, it is reckoned as Canaanite; there are five rulers of the Philistines, those of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron), and those of the Avvim,
4 a sud; tutta la regione dei Cananei, poi da Ara, presso i Sidoni, fino ad Afek, presso la terra degli Amorrei,	4 in the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah which belongs to the Sidonians, to Aphek, to the boundary of the Amorites,
5 la regione dei Gibliti e tutto il Libano ad oriente, da Baal-Gad alle pendici dell'Ermon, sino al valico di Camat;	5 and the land of the Gebalites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrising, from Baal-gad below Mount Hermon to the entrance of Hamath,
6 tutti quelli che abitano le montagne, dal Libano sino a Misrefot-Maim; tutti i Sidoni: io li farò fuggire dinanzi ai figli d'Israele. Intanto però tu distribuisci la regione a sorte fra gli Israeliti, in loro possesso ereditario, come io ti ho comandato".	6 all the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephoth-maim, even all the Sidonians. I will myself drive them out from before the people of Israel; only allot the land to Israel for an inheritance, as I have commanded you.
7 "Ora dunque ripartisci questa terra in possesso alle nove tribù e alla metà della tribù di Manasse.	7 Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance to the nine tribes and half the tribe of Manasseh."
8 Con lui i Rubeniti e i Gaditi hanno già ricevuto la loro parte di possesso, quella che dette loro Mosè, al di là del Giordano ad oriente; la dette loro proprio Mosè, servo del Signore,	8 With the other half of the tribe of Manasseh the Reubenites and the Gadites received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond the Jordan eastward, as Moses the servant of the LORD gave them:
9 da Aroer, situata sulla riva del torrente Arnon, la città che sta in mezzo alla valle, e tutto l'altipiano da Madaba sino a Dibon;	9 from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the tableland of Medeba as far as Dibon;
10 tutte le città di Sicon, re degli Amorrei, che regnava in Chesbon, fino alla frontiera dei figli di Ammon;	10 and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, as far as the boundary of the Ammonites;
11 il Gàlaad, con il territorio dei Ghesuriti e dei Maacatiti e tutta la montagna dell'Ermon e tutto il Basan fino a Salca;	11 and Gilead, and the region of the Geshurites and Ma-acathites, and all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan to Salecah;
12 nel Basan tutto il regno di Og, che regnava in Astarot e in Edrei, ultimo rampollo dei Refaim, che Mosè aveva battuto e sterminato".	12 all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edre-i (he alone was left of the remnant of the Rephaim); these Moses had defeated and driven out.
13 Ma i figli d'Israele non scacciarono i Ghesuriti e i Maacatiti, perciò Ghesur e Maaca dimorano ancor oggi in mezzo a Israele.	13 Yet the people of Israel did not drive out the Geshurites or the Ma-acathites; but Geshur and Maacath dwell in the midst of Israel to this day.
14 Soltanto alla tribù di Levi non fu data alcuna eredità: le vittime del Signore, Dio d'Israele, questo è il suo possesso, come le è stato detto.	14 To the tribe of Levi alone Moses gave no inheritance; the offerings by fire to the LORD God of Israel are their inheritance, as he said to him.
15 Mosè dunque aveva dato alla tribù dei figli di Ruben una porzione, secondo le loro famiglie;	15 And Moses gave an inheritance to the tribe of the Reubenites according to their families.
16 ebbero quindi il territorio dopo Aroer, al margine del torrente Arnon e della città che è in mezzo alla valle, e tutto l'altipiano presso Madaba;	16 So their territory was from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the tableland by Medeba;
17 Chesbon e tutte le sue città che sono sull'altipiano; Dibon, Bamot-Baal, Bet-Baal-Meon,	17 with Heshbon, and all its cities that are in the tableland; Dibon, and Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon,
18 Iaaz, Kedemot, Mefaat,	18 and Jahaz, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,
19 Kiriataim, Sibmal, Zeret-Sacar sul pendio della vallata;	19 and Kiriathaim, and Sibmah, and Zereth-shahar on the hill of the valley,
20 Bet-Peor, i pendii del Pisga, Bet-Iesimot;	20 and Beth-peor, and the slopes of Pisgah, and Beth-jeshimoth,
21 e tutte le città dell'altipiano e tutto il regno di Sicon, re degli Amorrei, che regnava in Chesbon, che fu battuto da Mosè, come i prìncipi di Madian: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Cur e Reba, vassalli di Sicon, che abitavano nella regione.	21 that is, all the cities of the tableland, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses defeated with the leaders of Midian, Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba, the princes of Sihon, who dwelt in the land.

23 Il Giordano fu il confine dei Rubeniti. Questo il limite del possesso dei figli di Ruben, secondo le loro famiglie, con le città e i loro villaggi.	23 And the border of the people of Reuben was the Jordan as a boundary. This was the inheritance of the Reubenites, according to their families with their cities and villages.
24 Anche alla tribù dei figli di Gad Mosè dette una porzione secondo le loro famiglie.	24 And Moses gave an inheritance also to the tribe of the Gadites, according to their families.
25 Ebbero in possesso Iazer e tutte le città del Gàlaad e metà della terra degli Ammoniti, fino ad Aroer, che sta di fronte a Rabba;	25 Their territory was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the Ammonites, to Aroer, which is east of Rabbah,
26 e da Chesbon sino a Ramat-Mizpe e Betonim, e da Macanaim fino al confine di Lodebar.	26 and from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the territory of Debir,
27 Infine nella vallata, Bet-Aram e Bet-Nimra, Succot e Zafon, il resto del regno di Sicon, re di Chesbon; il Giordano era il confine all'estremità del mare di Genezaret, sulla riva orientale del Giordano.	27 and in the valley Beth-haram, Beth-nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, having the Jordan as a boundary, to the lower end of the Sea of Chinnereth, eastward beyond the Jordan.
28 Questa è l'eredità dei figli di Gad, secondo le loro famiglie, con le città e i loro villaggi.	28 This is the inheritance of the Gadites according to their families, with their cities and villages.
29 Mosè aveva dato una porzione anche alla mezza tribù di Manasse; questo fu il possesso della mezza tribù dei figli di Manasse secondo le loro famiglie:	29 And Moses gave an inheritance to the half-tribe of Manasseh; it was allotted to the half-tribe of the Manassites according to their families.
30 il loro confine andava da Macanaim, tutto il Basan, tutto il regno di Og, re di Basan, e tutti i villaggi di Iair, che sono nel Basan: sessanta città.	30 Their region extended from Mahanaim, through all Bashan, the whole kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities,
31 La metà del Gàlaad, Astarot e Edrei, città del regno di Og nel Basan, toccarono a Machir, figlio di Manasse, cioè alla metà dei figli di Machir, secondo le loro famiglie.	31 and half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edre-i, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan; these were allotted to the people of Machir the son of Manasseh for the half of the Machirites according to their families.
32 Questo è ciò che Mosè aveva dato come eredità mentre era nelle steppe di Moab, al di là del Giordano, ad oriente di Gerico.	32 These are the inheritances which Moses distributed in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan east of Jericho.
