| 1 Non fatevi idoli, non erigetevi statue o stele; non ponete nella vostra terra pietre lavorate per prostrarvi davanti ad esse. Io infatti sono il Signore Dio vostro. | 1 "You shall make for yourselves no idols and erect no graven image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land, to bow down to them; for I am the LORD your God. |
| 2 Osservate i miei sabati e venerate il mio santuario. Io sono il Signore. | 2 You shall keep my sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD. |
| 3 Se vi comporterete secondo le mie leggi, se osserverete i miei precetti e li metterete in pratica, | 3 "If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them, |
| 4 io vi darò le piogge al loro tempo e la terra darà i suoi prodotti e gli alberi della campagna daranno il loro frutto; | 4 then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. |
| 5 la trebbiatura durerà fino alla vendemmia e la vendemmia durerà fino alla semina; mangerete il vostro pane a sazietà e abiterete tranquillamente nella vostra terra. | 5 And your threshing shall last to the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last to the time for sowing; and you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land securely. |
| 6 Io darò pace alla terra; voi potrete coricarvi senza che nulla vi spaventi. Farò scomparire ogni bestia feroce dalla terra e la spada non passerà nella vostra terra. | 6 And I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; and I will remove evil beasts from the land, and the sword shall not go through your land. |
| 7 Voi inseguirete i vostri nemici ed essi cadranno davanti a voi sotto la spada; | 7 And you shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. |
| 8 cinque di voi ne inseguiranno cento e cento di voi ne inseguiranno diecimila e i vostri nemici cadranno davanti a voi sotto la spada. | 8 Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. |
| 9 Io mi volgerò verso di voi, vi farò crescere e moltiplicare e farò sussistere il mio patto con voi. | 9 And I will have regard for you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and will confirm my covenant with you. |
| 10 Mangerete il raccolto vecchio che durerà così a lungo, che dovrete sgombrare il vecchio raccolto per far posto al nuovo. | 10 And you shall eat old store long kept, and you shall clear out the old to make way for the new. |
| 11 Io porrò la mia dimora in mezzo a voi e non vi prenderò in disgusto. | 11 And I will make my abode among you, and my soul shall not abhor you. |
| 12 Camminerò in mezzo a voi e sarò per voi Dio e voi sarete per me il popolo. | 12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you shall be my people. |
| 13 Io sono il Signore Dio vostro, che vi ha fatto uscire dalla terra d'Egitto, affinché non foste più loro schiavi; ho spezzato le sbarre del vostro giogo e vi ho fatto camminare a testa alta. | 13 I am the LORD your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; and I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect. |
| 14 Ma se non mi ascolterete e non metterete in pratica tutte queste norme, | 14 "But if you will not hearken to me, and will not do all these commandments, |
| 15 se prenderete in disgusto le mie leggi e rigetterete i miei precetti, senza mettere in pratica tutte le mie norme, rendendo vano il mio patto, | 15 if you spurn my statutes, and if your soul abhors my ordinances, so that you will not do all my commandments, but break my covenant, |
| 16 anch'io farò questo a voi: vi punirò con il tremore, la consunzione e la febbre che consumano gli occhi e tolgono il respiro. Seminerete invano la vostra semente e i vostri nemici la mangeranno. | 16 I will do this to you: I will appoint over you sudden terror, consumption, and fever that waste the eyes and cause life to pine away. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it; |
| 17 Mi volgerò contro di voi e sarete battuti di fronte ai vostri nemici; i vostri avversari domineranno sopra di voi. Voi fuggirete quando nessuno vi insegue. | 17 I will set my face against you, and you shall be smitten before your enemies; those who hate you shall rule over you, and you shall flee when none pursues you. |
| 18 Se con tutto ciò non mi ascolterete, continuerò a punirvi al settuplo per i vostri peccati. | 18 And if in spite of this you will not hearken to me, then I will chastise you again sevenfold for your sins, |
| 19 Spezzerò l'orgogliosa vostra forza; i vostri cieli diventeranno come ferro e la vostra terra come bronzo. | 19 and I will break the pride of your power, and I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like brass; |
| 20 Si consumerà invano la vostra forza; la terra non darà più i suoi prodotti e gli alberi della campagna non daranno più i loro frutti. | 20 and your strength shall be spent in vain, for your land shall not yield its increase, and the trees of the land shall not yield their fruit. |
| 21 Se vi comporterete ostinatamente verso di me e non vorrete ascoltarmi, continuerò a colpirvi al settuplo in proporzione ai vostri peccati. | 21 "Then if you walk contrary to me, and will not hearken to me, I will bring more plagues upon you, sevenfold as many as your sins. |
| 22 Manderò contro di voi bestie feroci della campagna che vi porteranno via i vostri figli, annienteranno il vostro bestiame, vi decimeranno e le vostre strade saranno desolate. | 22 And I will let loose the wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number, so that your ways shall become desolate. |
| 23 Se anche con tutto ciò non vi lascerete correggere volgendovi verso di me e continuerete a comportarvi ostinatamente verso di me, | 23 "And if by this discipline you are not turned to me, but walk contrary to me, |
| 24 anch'io sarò ostinato con voi e vi colpirò anch'io al settuplo per i vostri peccati; | 24 then I also will walk contrary to you, and I myself will smite you sevenfold for your sins. |
| 25 farò venire su di voi la spada che farà vendetta dell'alleanza. Vi radunerete nelle vostre città e io manderò in mezzo a voi la peste e sarete dati in mano al nemico. | 25 And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall execute vengeance for the covenant; and if you gather within your cities I will send pestilence among you, and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. |
| 26 Quando spezzerò il sostentamento del pane, dieci donne cuoceranno il loro pane in un solo forno e vi consegneranno il pane così misurato che mangerete e non vi sazierete. | 26 When I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and shall deliver your bread again by weight; and you shall eat, and not be satisfied. |
| 27 Se malgrado ciò non mi ascolterete e continuerete a comportarvi ostinatamente verso di me, | 27 "And if in spite of this you will not hearken to me, but walk contrary to me, |
| 28 anch'io mi comporterò verso di voi con furibonda ostinazione e vi punirò sette volte di più, per i vostri peccati. | 28 then I will walk contrary to you in fury, and chastise you myself sevenfold for your sins. |
| 29 Mangerete la carne dei vostri figli e la carne delle vostre figlie. | 29 You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters. |
| 30 Distruggerò i vostri luoghi alti e annienterò le vostre stele solari; porrò i vostri cadaveri sopra i cadaveri dei vostri idoli e vi prenderò in disgusto. | 30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your incense altars, and cast your dead bodies upon the dead bodies of your idols; and my soul will abhor you. |
| 31 Renderò le vostre città una rovina e devasterò i vostri luoghi sacri e non aspirerò più l'odore dei vostri profumi. | 31 And I will lay your cities waste, and will make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your pleasing odors. |
| 32 Devasterò io stesso la terra e se ne stupiranno i vostri nemici installatisi in essa. | 32 And I will devastate the land, so that your enemies who settle in it shall be astonished at it. |
| 33 Disperderò voi in mezzo ai popoli e snuderò contro di voi la spada; la vostra terra sarà desolata e le vostre città diventeranno una rovina. | 33 And I will scatter you among the nations, and I will unsheathe the sword after you; and your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste. |
| 34 Allora, per tutto il tempo della desolazione, la terra godrà i suoi sabati e voi starete nella terra dei vostri nemici; allora si riposerà la terra e godrà i suoi sabati. | 34 "Then the land shall enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate, while you are in your enemies' land; then the land shall rest, and enjoy its sabbaths. |
| 35 Per tutto il tempo della desolazione godrà di quel riposo che non ha goduto durante i vostri sabati, quando abitavate in essa. | 35 As long as it lies desolate it shall have rest, the rest which it had not in your sabbaths when you dwelt upon it. |
| 36 Quanto a quelli fra voi che scamperanno, metterò nel loro cuore il terrore, mentre si trovano nella terra dei loro nemici; il fruscìo di una foglia agitata li metterà in fuga ed essi fuggiranno come si fugge davanti alla spada; cadranno quando nessuno li insegue. | 36 And as for those of you that are left, I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a driven leaf shall put them to flight, and they shall flee as one flees from the sword, and they shall fall when none pursues. |
| 37 Inciamperanno l'uno nell'altro come se si trovassero davanti alla spada, senza che nessuno li insegua! Né potrete rialzarvi davanti ai vostri nemici; | 37 They shall stumble over one another, as if to escape a sword, though none pursues; and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies. |
| 38 andrete dispersi tra i popoli e vi divorerà la terra dei vostri nemici. | 38 And you shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. |
| 39 Quelli fra voi che scamperanno saranno annientati a causa dei loro peccati nelle terre dei vostri nemici, e periranno anche per i peccati dei loro padri. | 39 And those of you that are left shall pine away in your enemies' lands because of their iniquity; and also because of the iniquities of their fathers they shall pine away like them. |
| 40 Confesseranno il loro peccato e il peccato dei loro padri, insieme alle frodi che hanno compiuto contro di me. Come si sono comportati ostinatamente contro di me, | 40 "But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery which they committed against me, and also in walking contrary to me, |
| 41 così anch'io mi comporterò ostinatamente contro di loro e li condurrò nella terra dei loro nemici. Forse allora si umilierà il loro cuore incirconciso ed espieranno il loro peccato. | 41 so that I walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled and they make amends for their iniquity; |
| 42 Io ricorderò il mio patto con Giacobbe, il mio patto con Isacco e il mio patto con Abramo, e mi ricorderò del paese. | 42 then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and I will remember my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land. |
| 43 La terra, abbandonata da loro, allora godrà i suoi sabati, mentre è deserta per colpa loro. Essi espieranno il loro peccato, proprio perché hanno disprezzato i miei precetti e hanno preso in disgusto le mie leggi. | 43 But the land shall be left by them, and enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; and they shall make amends for their iniquity, because they spurned my ordinances, and their soul abhorred my statutes. |
| 44 Malgrado ciò, mentre essi saranno nella terra dei loro nemici, non li disprezzerò e non li prenderò in disgusto fino al punto di distruggerli, rendendo vano il mio patto con loro, perché io sono il Signore Dio vostro. | 44 Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not spurn them, neither will I abhor them so as to destroy them utterly and break my covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God; |
| 45 Mi ricorderò a loro favore del patto con gli antenati, che feci uscire dalla terra d'Egitto sotto gli occhi dei popoli, perché io fossi Dio per loro. Io sono il Signore". | 45 but I will for their sake remember the covenant with their forefathers, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the LORD." |
| 46 Queste sono le leggi, i precetti e gli insegnamenti che il Signore stabilì fra sé e i figli d'Israele, sul monte Sinai, per mano di Mosè. | 46 These are the statutes and ordinances and laws which the LORD made between him and the people of Israel on Mount Sinai by Moses. |
