Psalms 91

1 A Canticle Psalm. On the day of the Sabbath.	1 Tu que habitas sob a proteção do Altíssimo, que moras à sombra do Onipotente,
2 It is good to confess to the Lord and to sing psalms to your name, O Most High:	2 dize ao Senhor: Sois meu refúgio e minha cidadela, meu Deus, em que eu confio.
3 to announce your mercy in the morning, and your truth throughout the night,	3 É ele quem te livrará do laço do caçador, e da peste perniciosa.
4 upon the ten strings, upon the psaltery, with a canticle, upon stringed instruments.	4 Ele te cobrirá com suas plumas, sob suas asas encontrarás refúgio. Sua fidelidade te será um escudo de proteção.
5 For you, O Lord, have delighted me with your doings, and I will exult in the works of your hands.	5 Tu não temerás os terrores noturnos, nem a flecha que voa à luz do dia,
6 How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts have been made exceedingly deep.	6 nem a peste que se propaga nas trevas, nem o mal que grassa ao meio-dia.
7 A foolish man will not know these things, and a senseless one will not understand:	7 Caiam mil homens à tua esquerda e dez mil à tua direita, tu não serás atingido.
8 when sinners will have risen up like grass, and when all those who work iniquity will have appeared, that they shall pass away, age after age.	8 Porém verás com teus próprios olhos, contemplarás o castigo dos pecadores,
9 But you, O Lord, are the Most High for all eternity.	9 porque o Senhor é teu refúgio. Escolheste, por asilo, o Altíssimo.
10 For behold your enemies, O Lord, for behold your enemies will perish, and all those who work iniquity will be dispersed.	10 Nenhum mal te atingirá, nenhum flagelo chegará à tua tenda,
11 And my horn will be exalted like that of the single-horned beast, and my old age will be exalted in fruitful mercy.	11 porque aos seus anjos ele mandou que te guardem em todos os teus caminhos.
12 And my eye has looked down upon my enemies, and my ear will hear of the malignant rising up against me.	12 Eles te sustentarão em suas mãos, para que não tropeces em alguma pedra.
13 The just one will flourish like the palm tree. He will be multiplied like the cedar of Lebanon.	13 Sobre serpente e víbora andarás, calcarás aos pés o leão e o dragão.
14 Those planted in the house of the Lord will flourish in the courts of the house of our God.	14 Pois que se uniu a mim, eu o livrarei; e o protegerei, pois conhece o meu nome.
15 They will still be multiplied in a fruitful old age, and they will endure well,	15 Quando me invocar, eu o atenderei; na tribulação estarei com ele. Hei de livrá-lo e o cobrirei de glória.
16 so that they may announce that the Lord our God is righteous and that there is no iniquity in him.	16 Será favorecido de longos dias, e mostrar-lhe-ei a minha salvação.
