NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	1 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
2 'Son of man, raise the lament for Tyre.	2 "Tu, figlio dell'uomo, eleva su Tiro una lamentazione.
3 Say to Tyre, "City enthroned at the gateway of the sea, agent between the peoples and the manyislands, Lord Yahweh says this: Tyre, you used to say: I am a ship perfect in beauty.	3 Di' a Tiro: Tiro, che regna all'ingresso del mare, commercia con popoli presso tanti lidi: così dice il Signore Dio: Tiro, fosti detta nave di perfetta bellezza.
4 Your frontiers were far out to sea; those who built you made you perfect in beauty.	4 Nel cuore del mare sono i tuoi confini, i tuoi costruttori ti hanno reso bellissima.
5 Cypress from Senir they used for al your planking. They took a cedar from Lebanon to make a mastabove you.	5 Con cipresso di Senìr hanno costruito tutte le tue zattere, cedro del Libano hanno preso per farti l'albero maestro.
6 From oaks of Bashan they made your oars. They built you a deck of cedar inlaid with ivory from theKittim isles.	6 Con querce di Basan hanno costruito i tuoi remi, la tettoia te l'hanno fatta d'avorio, la cabina di conifere dei lidi dei Chittim.
7 Embroidered linen from Egypt was used for your sail and for your flag. Purple and scarlet from theElishah islands formed your deck-tent.	7 Di bisso variopinto d'Egitto era la tua vela, che era un vessillo di porpora viola e scarlatta, dei lidi d'Elisà era la tua tenda.
8 The people of Sidon and Arvad were your oarsmen. The sages of Tyre were aboard, serving assailors.	8 I regnanti di Sidone e di Arvad erano tuoi rematori, i tuoi sapienti, o Tiro, a bordo, erano tuoi piloti.
9 The elders and craftsmen of Gebal were there to caulk your seams. "Every sea-going ship and crewfrequented you to guarantee your trade.	9 Gli anziani di Biblos e i suoi sapienti erano in te a riparare le tue falle. Tutte le navi del mare e i loro marinai erano presso di te per scambiare le tue merci.
10 Men from Persia, Lud and Put served as warriors in your army; hanging up shield and helmet in you,they displayed your splendour.	10 Guerrieri di Persia, di Lud e di Put erano nel tuo esercito, scudo ed elmo appendevano in te, essi costituivano il tuo decoro.
11 The sons of Arvad with their army manned your wal s al round, while the Gammadians manned yourtowers; hanging their shields al round your walls, they completed your beauty.	11 I figli di Arvad e il loro esercito erano sulle tue mura all'intorno e vegliavano sulle tue torri. Appendevano gli scudi alle tue mura all'intorno e rendevano perfetta la tua bellezza.
12 Tarshish traded with you because of your abundant resources and exchanged your merchandise forsilver, iron, tin and lead.	12 Tarsis negoziava con te per l'abbondanza di ogni bene e in cambio di argento, oro, stagno e piombo diffondevano i tuoi prodotti.
13 Javan, Tubal and Meshech traded with you. For your merchandise they traded slaves and bronzeartefacts.	13 Grecia, Tubal e Mesech trafficavano con te; in cambio di esseri umani e oggetti di bronzo diffondevano la tua merce.
14 The people of Beth-Togarmah traded your horses, chargers, mules.	14 Da Togarmà, in cambio di cavalli e cavalieri e muli, diffondevano i tuoi prodotti.
15 The people of Dedan traded with you; many islands were your customers and paid you in ivory tusksand ebony.	15 I figli di Dedan trafficavano con te, numerosi lidi negoziavano con te, zanne d'avorio ed ebano ti restituivano in paga.
16 Edom traded with you for the sake of your many manufactured goods, exchanging garnets, purple,embroideries, fine linen, coral and rubies for your goods.	16 Aram negoziava con te per l'abbondanza dei tuoi prodotti; in cambio di granato, porpora scarlatta e variopinta, bisso, corallo rosso e rubini diffondevano i tuoi prodotti.
17 Judah and the land of Israel also traded with you, bringing corn from Minnith, pannag, honey, oil andbalm.	17 Giuda e il paese d'Israele trafficavano con te. In cambio di grano di Minnìt ti portavano profumi, miele, olio e balsamo.
18 Damascus traded with you, for quantities of your manufactured goods and other goods of al kinds,furnishing you with wine from Helbon and wool from Zahar.	18 Damasco negoziava con te per l'abbondanza dei tuoi lavori e la molteplicità d'ogni bene; ti forniva il vino di Chelbòn e la lana di Zacar.
19 Dan and Javan, from Uzal onwards, supplied you with wrought iron, cassia and reeds in exchangefor your goods.	19 Vedàn e Iavàn da Uzzàl ti rifornivano di ferro lavorato, cassia e canna aromatica in cambio della tua merce.
20 Dedan traded with you in saddle-cloths.	20 Dedan trattava con te gualdrappe per cavalcatura.
21 Arabia and al the sheikhs of Kedar were your customers; they paid in lambs, rams and he-goats.	21 L'Arabia e tutti i prìncipi di Kedàr mercanteggiavano con te; in agnelli, montoni e capri negoziavano con te.
22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah traded with you; they supplied you with the finest spices,precious stones and gold for your merchandise.	22 I mercanti di Saba e Raemà trafficavano con te; per le prime qualità di balsamo e ogni genere di pietra preziosa e oro diffondevano i tuoi prodotti.
23 Haran, Canneh and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur and Chilmad traded with you.	23 Carran, Cannè, Eden, i mercanti di Saba, Assur, Kilmàd trafficavano con te.
24 They traded rich clothes, embroidered and purple cloaks, multi-coloured materials and strong plaitedcords for your markets.	24 Essi scambiavano con te indumenti di prima qualità, mantelli di porpora e stoffe variopinte, tappeti variegati, corde intrecciate e solide sui tuoi mercati.
25 Ships of Tarshish sailed on your business; you were ful and heavily loaded far out to sea.	25 Le navi di Tarsis erano alle tue dipendenze per la tua merce. Ti sei riempita e ingrandita molto nel cuore del mare;
26 Out to the open sea your oarsmen rowed you. The east wind has wrecked you far out to sea.	26 nelle grandi acque ti hanno fatto navigare i tuoi naviganti, ma il vento orientale ti ha distrutta nel cuore del mare.
27 Your riches, your goods, your cargo, your seamen, your sailors, your caulkers, your commercialagents, all the warriors you carry, and al the passengers who are aboard wil founder far out to sea on the day ofyour shipwreck.	27 I tuoi beni e la tua roba, la tua merce, i tuoi naviganti e piloti, quelli che riparavano le tue falle e quelli che commerciavano la tua merce e tutti i tuoi soldati che sono in te e tutta l'accolta di gente che è dentro di te cadono in fondo al mare, nel giorno della tua rovina.
28 When they hear the cries of your sailors the coasts wil tremble.	28 Al sentire il grido dei tuoi naviganti tremano le località vicine,
29 Then the oarsmen will al desert their ships. The sailors and seafaring people wil stay ashore.	29 scendono dalle loro navi tutti quelli che tengono il remo, naviganti, piloti tutti del mare si fermano a terra
30 They will raise their voices for you and weep bitterly. They wil throw dust on their heads and roll inashes;	30 e fanno sentire i loro clamori su di te; gridano amareggiati, si gettano polvere in testa, si avvoltolano nella cenere.
31 they wil shave their heads for you and put sackcloth round their waists. With heartfelt bitterness theywil weep for you, bitterly wail.	31 Si tosano a raso i capelli per te, si cingono di sacco, singhiozzano per te, con l'anima amareggiata. Un pianto amaro!
32 Wailing, they will raise the lament for you, they wil lament over you: Who is like Tyre, far out to sea?	32 Nel loro gemito innalzano per te una lamentazione, si lamentano su di te: "Chi era come Tiro, una fortezza in mezzo al mare?".
33 When you unloaded your goods to satisfy so many peoples, you enriched the kings of the earth withyour excess of wealth and goods.	33 Scaricando dal mare i tuoi prodotti, hai saziato molti popoli, con la quantità dei tuoi beni e della tua merce hai reso più felici i re della terra.
34 Now you have been wrecked by the waves, by the depths of the sea. Your cargo and all yourpassengers have foundered with you.	34 E ora sei distrutta dal mare negli abissi marini; la tua merce e tutta la tua accolta di gente dentro di te è affondata.
35 Al those who live in the islands wil be stunned at your fate. Their kings wil quake with horror, withdowncast expressions.	35 I regnanti di tutti i lidi sono restati stupefatti per te, ai loro re si sono rizzati i capelli, il loro volto è triste.
36 The merchants of the nations wil whistle at your fate. You wil be an object of terror, gone for ever." '	36 I negozianti tra i popoli ti fischiarono: diventasti un oggetto di orrore e non esisterai mai più".
