NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, his faithful love is everlasting!	1 Alleluia Alleluia. Confessate al Signore, per ch' egli è buono; per che sempre sarà la misericordia sua.
2 Who can recount al Yahweh's triumphs, who can ful y voice his praise?	2 Dicano chi sono ricomprati dal Signore, li quali lui ricomperò dalla mano del nemico; raunolli delle regioni,
3 How blessed are those who keep to what is just, whose conduct is always upright!	3 da levante e ponente, da aquilone e il mare.
4 Remember me, Yahweh, in your love for your people. Come near to me with your saving power,	4 Errarono nel deserto, e nella incognita via; non trovorono la via della abitata città,
5 let me share the happiness of your chosen ones, let me share the joy of your people, the pride ofyour heritage.	5 affamati e assetati; loro anime vennero meno.
6 Like our ancestors, we have sinned, we have acted wickedly, guiltily;	6 E gridorono al Signore essendo tribulati; e liberolli dalle loro necessità.
7 our ancestors in Egypt never grasped the meaning of your wonders. They did not bear in mind yourcountless acts of love, at the Sea of Reeds they defied the Most High;	7 E menolli nella via dritta; acciò andassero nella città abitabile.
8 but for the sake of his name he saved them, to make known his mighty power.	8 Al Signore confessino le sue misericordie, e le sue maraviglie alli figliuoli delli uomini.
9 At his rebuke the Sea of Reeds dried up, he let them pass through the deep as though it were desert,	9 Per che ha saziato l'anima bisognosa; e l' anima affamata ha saziato di beni.
10 so he saved them from their opponents' clutches, rescued them from the clutches of their enemies.	10 A' sedenti in tenebre e in ombra di morte; legati in mendicità e in ferro.
11 The waters enveloped their enemies, not one of whom was left.	11 Per che provocorono li parlari del Signore; e irritorono il consiglio dell' Altissimo.
12 Then they believed what he had said, and sang his praises.	12 E loro cuore ha sbassato in fatiche; e sono infirmati, e non fue chi li aiutasse.
13 But they soon forgot his achievements, they did not even wait for his plans;	13 Ed essendo tribulati, gridorono al Signore; e liberolli di necessità loro.
14 they were overwhelmed with greed in the wastelands, in the solitary wastes they challenged God.	14 E menolli fuori dalle tenebre e ombra di morte; e roppe li loro legami.
15 He gave them al they asked for, but struck them with a deep wasting sickness;	15 Al Signore confessino le misericordie sue; e le sue maraviglie alli figliuoli delli uomini.
16 in the camp they grew jealous of Moses, and of Aaron, Yahweh's holy one.	16 Per che ha spezzato le porte di metallo; e ha rotto li catenacci di ferro.
17 The earth opened and swal owed up Dathan, closed in on Abiram's faction;	17 Ricevetteli dalla via di loro iniquità; per che furono umiliati per le sue [in]giustizie.
18 fire flamed out against their faction, the renegades were engulfed in flames.	18 La loro anima ebbe in abominazione ogni cibo; e appressoronsi insino alle porte della morte.
19 At Horeb they made a calf, bowed low before cast metal;	19 Ed essendo tribulati, gridorono al Signore; e liberolli di loro necessità.
20 they exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating bull.	20 Mandò la sua parola, e sanolli; scampolli dalle loro morti.
21 They forgot the God who was saving them, who had done great deeds in Egypt,	21 Al Signore confessino le sue misericordie; e le sue maraviglie a' figliuoli delli uomini.
22 such wonders in the land of Ham, such awesome deeds at the Sea of Reeds.	22 E sacrificaranno il sacrificio di lode; e in allegrezza raccontaranno l' opere sue.
23 He thought of putting an end to them, had not Moses, his chosen one, taken a stand in the breachand confronted him, to turn his anger away from destroying them.	23 Quelli che descendono nel mare con le navi, facenti l'opera in molte acque,
24 They counted a desirable land for nothing, they put no trust in his promise;	24 egli vedono le opere del Signore, e le maraviglie sue nel profondo.
25 they stayed in their tents and grumbled, they would not listen to Yahweh's voice.	25 Disse, e fermossi il spirito della tempesta; ed elevoronsi loro onde.
26 So he lifted his hand against them, to strike them down in the desert,	26 Ascendono insino a' cieli, e descendono insino alli abissi; le loro anime ne' mali a meno venivano.
27 to strike down their descendants among the nations, to scatter them al over the world.	27 Turboronsi, e moveronsi come ebrio; e ogni loro sapienza fu divorata.
28 They committed themselves to serve Baal-Peor, and ate sacrifices made to lifeless gods.	28 Ed essendo tribulati, gridorono al Signore; e cavolli delle loro necessità.
29 They so provoked him by their actions that a plague broke out among them.	29 E commutò la sua tempesta in vento; e cessorono le onde sue.
30 Then up stood Phinehas to intervene, and the plague was checked;	30 E rallegroronsi, per che erano cessate; e menolli nel porto secondo la loro volontà.
31 for this he is the example of uprightness, from age to age for ever.	31 Al Signore confessino le sue misericordie; e le sue maraviglie alli figliuoli delli uomini.
32 At the waters of Meribah they so angered Yahweh, that Moses suffered on their account,	32 Ed esaltino quello nella chiesa del popolo; e lodino nella sedia de' vecchi.
33 for they had embittered his spirit, and he spoke without due thought.	33 Puose li fiumi nel deserto, e il corso dell' acque per la sete.
34 They did not destroy the nations, as Yahweh had told them to do,	34 Puose la terra fruttifera nel salso umore, per la malizia delli suoi abitanti.
35 but intermarried with them, and adopted their ways.	35 Puose il deserto ne' laghi d'acque; e la terra senza acqua in corso d'acque.
36 They worshipped those nations' false gods, til they found themselves entrapped,	36 E quivi collocò li affamati; e ordinorono la città.
37 and sacrificed their own sons and their daughters to demons.	37 E seminorono li campi, e piantorono le vigne; e fecero il frutto della natività (sua).
38 Innocent blood they shed, the blood of their sons and daughters; offering them to the idols ofCanaan, they pol uted the country with blood.	38 E benedisseli, e molto moltiplicorono; e loro animali non sminuirono.
39 They defiled themselves by such actions, their behaviour was that of a harlot.	39 E sono fatti pochi; e travagliati dalla tribulazione e dolore de' cattivi.
40 Yahweh's anger blazed out at his people, his own heritage fil ed him with disgust.	40 Sparta è la contenzione sopra li principi; feceli andare dove non era via.
41 He handed them over to the nations, and their opponents became their masters;	41 E aiutò il povero dalla povertà; e puose come pecore le famiglie.
42 their enemies lorded it over them, crushing them under their rule.	42 Vederanno li diritti, e rallegraransi; e ogni iniquità serrerà la bocca sua.
43 Time and again he rescued them, but they stil defied him deliberately, and sank ever deeper in theirguilt;	43 Quale è quel savio, che osserverà queste cose, e intenderà le misericordie del Signore?
44 even so he took pity on their distress, as soon as he heard them cry out.
45 Bearing his covenant with them in mind, he relented in his boundless and faithful love;
46 he ensured that they received compassion, in their treatment by al their captors.
47 Save us, Yahweh our God, gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holyname, and may glory in praising you.
48 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from all eternity and for ever! Let all the people say, 'Amen'.
