Psalms 106

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, his faithful love is everlasting!	1 Lodate il Signore, poiché è buono, poiché in eterno è la sua misericordia.
2 Who can recount al Yahweh's triumphs, who can ful y voice his praise?	2 Chi può narrare le gesta del Signore e far risuonare tutta la sua lode?
3 How blessed are those who keep to what is just, whose conduct is always upright!	3 Beati quelli che osservano il diritto e agiscono con giustizia in ogni tempo.
4 Remember me, Yahweh, in your love for your people. Come near to me with your saving power,	4 Ricòrdati di noi, o Signore, per amore del tuo popolo, vìsitaci con la tua salvezza,
5 let me share the happiness of your chosen ones, let me share the joy of your people, the pride ofyour heritage.	5 affinché vediamo la felicità dei tuoi eletti, ci rallegriamo della gioia del tuo popolo e ci gloriamo con la tua eredità.
6 Like our ancestors, we have sinned, we have acted wickedly, guiltily;	6 Abbiamo peccato, come i nostri padri; abbiamo operato il male, abbiamo agito con empietà.
7 our ancestors in Egypt never grasped the meaning of your wonders. They did not bear in mind yourcountless acts of love, at the Sea of Reeds they defied the Most High;	7 I nostri padri in Egitto non compresero i tuoi prodigi; non si ricordarono di tanti tuoi benefici; si ribellarono contro l'Eccelso presso il Mar Rosso.
8 but for the sake of his name he saved them, to make known his mighty power.	8 Ma Dio li salvò in grazia del suo nome, per rendere manifesta la sua potenza.
9 At his rebuke the Sea of Reeds dried up, he let them pass through the deep as though it were desert,	9 Minacciò il Mar Rosso e si seccò; li condusse negli abissi, come in un deserto.
10 so he saved them from their opponents' clutches, rescued them from the clutches of their enemies.	10 Li strappò dal potere di chi li odiava, li riscattò dal potere del nemico.
11 The waters enveloped their enemies, not one of whom was left.	11 Le acque sommersero i loro avversari, non sopravvisse di loro neppure uno.
12 Then they believed what he had said, and sang his praises.	12 Allora credettero alle sue parole, e cantarono la sua lode.
13 But they soon forgot his achievements, they did not even wait for his plans;	13 Ma dimenticarono presto le sue opere, non prestarono fede al suo disegno.
14 they were overwhelmed with greed in the wastelands, in the solitary wastes they challenged God.	14 Si accesero le loro brame nel deserto, e tentarono Dio nella steppa.
15 He gave them al they asked for, but struck them with a deep wasting sickness;	15 Ed egli concesse quanto chiedevano e soddisfece la loro ingordigia.
16 in the camp they grew jealous of Moses, and of Aaron, Yahweh's holy one.	16 Si mostrarono gelosi contro Mosè negli accampamenti, contro Aronne, il santo del Signore.
17 The earth opened and swal owed up Dathan, closed in on Abiram's faction;	17 Allora si aprì la terra e inghiottì Datan, e seppellì il gruppo di Abiram.
18 fire flamed out against their faction, the renegades were engulfed in flames.	18 Divampò il fuoco nella sua fazione, e la fiamma divorò i ribelli.
19 At Horeb they made a calf, bowed low before cast metal;	19 Fecero un vitello sull'Oreb e si prostrarono davanti a un metallo fuso;
20 they exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating bull.	20 scambiarono la loro gloria con la figura di un toro che mangia fieno.
21 They forgot the God who was saving them, who had done great deeds in Egypt,	21 Si erano dimenticati di Dio che li aveva salvati, che aveva operato in Egitto cose grandi:
22 such wonders in the land of Ham, such awesome deeds at the Sea of Reeds.	22 prodigi nella terra di Cam, portenti presso il Mar Rosso.
23 He thought of putting an end to them, had not Moses, his chosen one, taken a stand in the breachand confronted him, to turn his anger away from destroying them.	23 Allora pensò di sterminarli, se Mosè, suo eletto, non si fosse eretto sulla breccia, davanti a lui, per stornare la sua ira dallo sterminio.
24 They counted a desirable land for nothing, they put no trust in his promise;	24 Rifiutarono un paese delizioso, non credettero alla sua parola.
25 they stayed in their tents and grumbled, they would not listen to Yahweh's voice.	25 Mormorarono nelle loro tende, non diedero ascolto alla voce del Signore.
26 So he lifted his hand against them, to strike them down in the desert,	26 Allora egli alzò su di loro la mano che li avrebbe abbattuti nel deserto
27 to strike down their descendants among the nations, to scatter them al over the world.	27 e avrebbe disperso fra le genti la loro progenie, li avrebbe disseminati per le regioni.
28 They committed themselves to serve Baal-Peor, and ate sacrifices made to lifeless gods.	28 Si asservirono a Baal di Peor, mangiarono sacrifici di morti.
29 They so provoked him by their actions that a plague broke out among them.	29 Lo provocarono con le loro azioni e scoppiò fra essi una pestilenza.
30 Then up stood Phinehas to intervene, and the plague was checked;	30 Intervenne Finees e agì da giudice e cessò la pestilenza;
31 for this he is the example of uprightness, from age to age for ever.	31 ciò gli fu imputato a giustizia, di generazione in generazione, per sempre.
32 At the waters of Meribah they so angered Yahweh, that Moses suffered on their account,	32 Lo irritarono presso le acque di Meriba e fu punito Mosè per causa loro;
33 for they had embittered his spirit, and he spoke without due thought.	33 poiché avevano amareggiato il suo animo e disse cose insensate con la sua bocca.
34 They did not destroy the nations, as Yahweh had told them to do,	34 Non sterminarono i popoli, come aveva loro ordinato il Signore,
35 but intermarried with them, and adopted their ways.	35 si mescolarono con le nazioni e appresero a compiere le loro opere;
36 They worshipped those nations' false gods, til they found themselves entrapped,	36 prestarono culto ai loro idoli che diventarono per loro un tranello.
37 and sacrificed their own sons and their daughters to demons.	37 Immolarono i loro figli e le loro figlie ai falsi dèi.
38 Innocent blood they shed, the blood of their sons and daughters; offering them to the idols ofCanaan, they pol uted the country with blood.	38 Versarono il sangue innocente, il sangue dei loro figli e figlie che immolarono agli idoli di Canaan, e fu profanata la terra con delitti di sangue.
39 They defiled themselves by such actions, their behaviour was that of a harlot.	39 Si resero impuri con le loro azioni e si prostituirono con i loro misfatti.
40 Yahweh's anger blazed out at his people, his own heritage fil ed him with disgust.	40 Allora scoppiò l'ira del Signore contro il suo popolo ed ebbe in orrore la sua eredità.
41 He handed them over to the nations, and their opponents became their masters;	41 Li consegnò in potere delle genti e li dominarono i loro avversari;
42 their enemies lorded it over them, crushing them under their rule.	42 li oppressero i loro nemici e dovettero piegarsi sotto il loro dominio.
43 Time and again he rescued them, but they stil defied him deliberately, and sank ever deeper in theirguilt;	43 Molte volte li aveva salvati, ma essi si ostinarono nei loro disegni e furono abbattuti per le loro iniquità.
44 even so he took pity on their distress, as soon as he heard them cry out.	44 Allora Dio guardò con favore sulla loro sventura, quando udì la loro implorazione.
45 Bearing his covenant with them in mind, he relented in his boundless and faithful love;	45 Si ricordò della sua alleanza e si mosse a pietà di loro per la sua grande misericordia;
46 he ensured that they received compassion, in their treatment by al their captors.	46 fece sì che trovassero favore presso coloro che li avevano deportati.
47 Save us, Yahweh our God, gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holyname, and may glory in praising you.	47 Salvaci, Signore nostro Dio, e radunaci dalle nazioni, perché possiamo lodare il tuo santo nome e allietarci della tua lode.
48 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from all eternity and for ever! Let all the people say, 'Amen'.	48 Benedetto il Signore, Dio d'Israele, da sempre e per sempre. E dirà tutto il popolo: Amen! Alleluia.
