'The Dwelling itself you wil make with ten sheets of finely woven linen dyed violet-purple, red-purpleand crimson. You will have them embroidered with great winged creatures.1 "The Dwelling itself you shall make out of sheets woven of fine linen twined and of violet, purple and scarlet yarn, with cherubim embroidered on them.
The length of a single sheet is to be twenty-eight cubits, its width four cubits, al the sheets to be of thesame size.2 The length of each shall be twenty-eight cubits, and the width four cubits; all the sheets shall be of the same size.
Five of the sheets are to be joined to one another, and the other five sheets are to be joined to oneanother.3 Five of the sheets are to be sewed together, edge to edge; and the same for the other five.
You will make violet loops along the edge of the first sheet, at the end of the set, and do the samealong the edge of the last sheet in the other set.4 Make loops of violet yarn along the edge of the end sheet in one set, and the same along the edge of the end sheet in the other set.
You will make fifty loops on the first sheet and fifty loops along the outer edge of the sheet of thesecond set, the loops corresponding to one another.5 There are to be fifty loops along the edge of the end sheet in the first set, and fifty loops along the edge of the corresponding sheet in the second set, and so placed that the loops are directly opposite each other.
You will also make fifty gold clasps, and join the sheets together with the clasps. In this way theDwelling wil be a unified whole.6 Then make fifty clasps of gold, with which to join the two sets of sheets, so that the Dwelling forms one whole.
'You will make sheets of goats' hair to form a tent over the Dwel ing; you wil make eleven of these.7 "Also make sheets woven of goat hair, to be used as a tent covering over the Dwelling.
The length of a single sheet must be thirty cubits and its width four cubits, the eleven sheets to be alof the same size.8 Eleven such sheets are to be made; the length of each shall be thirty cubits, and the width four cubits: all eleven sheets shall be of the same size.
You will join five sheets together into one set, and six sheets into another; the sixth you wil fold doubleover the front of the tent.9 Sew five of the sheets, edge to edge, into one set, and the other six sheets into another set. Use the sixth sheet double at the front of the tent.
You wil make fifty loops along the edge of the first sheet, at the end of the first set, and fifty loopsalong the edge of the sheet of the second set.10 Make fifty loops along the edge of the end sheet in one set, and fifty loops along the edge of the end sheet in the second set.
You wil make fifty bronze clasps and insert the clasps into the loops, to draw the tent together and tomake it a unified whole.11 Also make fifty bronze clasps and put them into the loops, to join the tent into one whole.
'Of the extra part of the sheets that overlap, half is to hang down the back of the Dwel ing.12 There will be an extra half sheet of tent covering, which shall be allowed to hang down over the rear of the Dwelling.
The extra cubit on either side along the length of the tent sheets must hang down the sides of theDwelling on either side to cover it.13 Likewise, the sheets of the tent will have an extra cubit's length to be left hanging down on either side of the Dwelling to protect it.
'And for the tent you will make a cover of rams' skins dyed red and a cover of fine leather over that.14 Over the tent itself you shall make a covering of rams' skins dyed red, and above that, a covering of tahash skins.
'For the Dwelling you wil make vertical frames of acacia wood.15 "You shall make boards of acacia wood as walls for the Dwelling.
Each frame must be ten cubits long and one and a half cubits wide.16 The length of each board is to be ten cubits, and its width one and a half cubits.
Each frame must have twin tenons; that is how al the frames for the Dwelling must be made.17 Each board shall have two arms that shall serve to fasten the boards in line. In this way all the boards of the Dwelling are to be made.
You wil make frames for the Dwel ing: twenty frames for the south side, to the south,18 Set up the boards of the Dwelling as follows: twenty boards on the south side,
and make forty silver sockets under the twenty frames, two sockets under one frame for its twotenons, two sockets under the next frame for its two tenons;19 with forty silver pedestals under the twenty boards, so that there are two pedestals under each board, at its two arms;
and for the other side of the Dwel ing, the north side, twenty frames20 twenty boards on the other side of the Dwelling, the north side,
and forty silver sockets, two sockets under one frame, two sockets under the next frame.21 with their forty silver pedestals, two under each board;
For the back of the Dwel ing, on the west, you wil make six frames,22 six boards for the rear of the Dwelling, to the west;
and make two frames for the corners at the back of the Dwel ing;23 and two boards for the corners at the rear of the Dwelling.
these must be coupled together at the bottom, and right up to the top, to the level of the first ring; thisfor the two frames that must form the two corners.24 These two shall be double at the bottom, and likewise double at the top, to the first ring. That is how both boards in the corners are to be made.
Thus there wil be eight frames with their silver sockets: sixteen sockets; two sockets under oneframe and two sockets under the next frame.25 Thus, there shall be in the rear eight boards, with their sixteen silver pedestals, two pedestals under each board.
'You wil make crossbars of acacia wood: five for the frames of the first side of the Dwelling,26 Also make bars of acacia wood: five for the boards on one side of the Dwelling,
five crossbars for the frames of the opposite side of the Dwel ing, and five crossbars for the frameswhich form the back of the Dwel ing, to the west.27 five for those on the other side, and five for those at the rear, toward the west.
The middle bar must join the frames from one end to the other, halfway up.28 The center bar, at the middle of the boards, shall reach across from end to end.
You wil overlay the frames with gold, make gold rings for them, through which to place thecrossbars, and overlay the crossbars with gold.29 Plate the boards with gold, and make gold rings on them as holders for the bars, which are also to be plated with gold.
This is how you must erect the Dwel ing, fol owing the design shown you on the mountain.30 You shall erect the Dwelling according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.
'You wil make a curtain of finely woven linen, dyed violet-purple, red-purple and crimson, andembroidered with great winged creatures,31 "You shall have a veil woven of violet, purple and scarlet yarn, and of fine linen twined, with cherubim embroidered on it.
and put it on four poles of acacia wood overlaid with gold, with golden hooks for them, set in foursockets of silver.32 It is to be hung on four gold-plated columns of acacia wood, which shall have hooks of gold and shall rest on four silver pedestals.
You wil put the curtain below the clasps, so that inside behind the curtain, you can place the ark ofthe Testimony, and the curtain wil mark the division for you between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies.33 Hang the veil from clasps. The ark of the commandments you shall bring inside, behind this veil which divides the holy place from the holy of holies.
You wil put the mercy-seat on the ark of the Testimony in the Holy of Holies.34 Set the propitiatory on the ark of the commandments in the holy of holies.
You wil place the table outside the curtain, and the lamp-stand on the south side of the Dwel ing,opposite the table; you will put the table on the north side.35 "Outside the veil you shall place the table and the lampstand, the latter on the south side of the Dwelling, opposite the table, which is to be put on the north side.
For the entrance to the tent you wil make a screen of finely woven linen embroidered with violet-purple, red-purple and crimson,36 For the entrance of the tent make a variegated curtain of violet, purple and scarlet yarn and of fine linen twined.
and for the screen you wil make five poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold, with goldenhooks, and for them you wil cast five sockets of bronze.'37 Make five columns of acacia wood for this curtain; have them plated with gold, with their hooks of gold; and cast five bronze pedestals for them.
