1 Indeed, she reaches from end to end mightily and governs all things well.	1 Se despliega vigorosamente de un confín al otro del mundo y gobierna de excelente manera el universo.
2 Her I loved and sought after from my youth; I sought to take her for my bride and was enamored of her beauty.	2 Yo la amé y la pretendí desde mi juventud; me esforcé por hacerla esposa mía y llegué a ser un apasionado de su belleza.
3 She adds to nobility the splendor of companionship with God; even the LORD of all loved her.	3 Realza su nobleza por su convivencia con Dios, pues el Señor de todas las cosas la amó.
4 For she is instructress in the understanding of God, the selector of his works.	4 Pues está iniciada en la ciencia de Dios y es la que elige sus obras.
5 And if riches be a desirable possession in life, what is more rich than Wisdom, who produces all things?	5 Si en la vida la riqueza es una posesión deseable, ¿qué cosa más rica que la Sabiduría que todo lo hace?
6 And if prudence renders service, who in the world is a better craftsman than she?	6 Si la inteligencia es creadora, ¿quién sino la Sabiduría es el artífice de cuanto existe?
7 Or if one loves justice, the fruits of her works are virtues; For she teaches moderation and prudence, justice and fortitude, and nothing in life is more useful for men than these.	7 ¿Amas la justicia? Las virtudes son sus empeños, pues ella enseña la templanza y la prudencia, la justicia y la fortaleza: lo más provechoso para el hombre en la vida.
8 Or again, if one yearns for copious learning, she knows the things of old, and infers those yet to come. She understands the turns of phrases and the solutions of riddles; signs and wonders she knows in advance and the outcome of times and ages.	8 ¿Deseas además gran experiencia? Ella conoce el pasado y conjetura el porvenir, sabe interpretar las máximas y resolver los enigmas, conoce de antemano las señales y los prodigios, así como la sucesión de épocas y tiempos.
9 So I determined to take her to live with me, knowing that she would be my counselor while all was well, and my comfort in care and grief.	9 Decidí, pues, tomarla por compañera de mi vida, sabiendo que me sería una consejera para el bien y un aliento en las preocupaciones y penas:
10 For her sake I should have glory among the masses, and esteem from the elders, though I be but a youth.	10 «Tendré gracias a ella gloria entre la gente, y, aunque joven, honor ante los ancianos.
11 I should become keen in judgment, and should be a marvel before rulers.	11 Apareceré agudo en el juicio y en presencia de los poderosos seré admirado.
12 They would abide my silence and attend my utterance; and as I spoke on further, they would place their hands upon their mouths.	12 Si callo, esperarán; si hablo, prestarán atención; si me alargo hablando, pondrán la mano en su boca.
13 For her sake I should have immortality and leave to those after me an everlasting memory.	13 Gracias a ella tendré la inmortalidad y dejaré recuerdo eterno a los que después de mí vengan.
14 I should govern peoples, and nations would be my subjects-	14 Gobernaré a los pueblos, y las naciones me estarán sometidas.
15 terrible princes, hearing of me, would be afraid; in the assembly I should appear noble, and in war courageous.	15 Oyendo hablar de mí, soberanos terribles temerán. Me mostraré bueno entre las multitudes y valiente en la guerra.
16 Within my dwelling, I should take my repose beside her; For association with her involves no bitterness and living with her no grief, but rather joy and gladness.	16 Vuelto a casa, junto a ella descansaré, pues no causa amargura su compañía ni tristeza la convivencia con ella, sino satisfacción y alegría».
17 Thinking thus within myself, and reflecting in my heart That there is immortality in kinship with Wisdom,	17 Pensando esto conmigo mismo y considerando en mi corazón que se encuentra la inmortalidad en emparentar con la Sabiduría,
18 and good pleasure in her friendship, and unfailing riches in the works of her hands, And that in frequenting her society there is prudence, and fair renown in sharing her discourses, I went about seeking to take her for my own.	18 en su amistad un placer bueno, en los trabajos de sus manos inagotables riquezas, prudencia en cultivar su trato y prestigio en conversar con ella, por todos los medios buscaba la manera de hacérmela mía.
19 Now, I was a well-favored child, and I came by a noble nature;	19 Era yo un muchacho de buen natural, me cupo en suerte un alma buena,
20 or rather, being noble, I attained an unsullied body.	20 o más bien, siendo bueno, vine a un cuerpo incontaminado;
21 And knowing that I could not otherwise possess her except God gave it-- and this, too, was prudence, to know whose is the gift-- I went to the LORD and besought him, and said with all my heart:	21 pero, comprendiendo que no podría poseer la Sabiduría si Dios no me la daba, - y ya era un fruto de la prudencia saber de quién procedía esta gracia - recurrí al Señor y le pedí, y dije con todo mi corazón:
