1 Surse di poi Nathan profeta a' tempi di David.	1 After him came NATHAN who served in the presence of David.
2 Come il grasso dell'ostia dalla carne si segrega: cosi è Davidde se gregato da' figliuoli di Israele.	2 Like the choice fat of the sacred offerings, so was DAVID in Israel.
3 Egli scherzò co' leoni come se fossero agnelli, e gli orsi trattò come agnelli nella sua giovinezza.	3 He made sport of lions as though they were kids, and of bears, like lambs of the flock.
4 Non uccise egli il gigante togliendo l'obbrobrio di sua nazione	4 As a youth he slew the giant and wiped out the people's disgrace, When his hand let fly the slingstone that crushed the pride of Goliath.
5 Alzata la mano, col sasso della sna frombola, abbattè il trionfante Golia:	5 Since he called upon the Most High God, who gave strength to his right arm To defeat the skilled warrior and raise up the might of his people,
6 Perché egli invocò il Signore onnipotente, il quale diede forza al suo braccio per uccidere un uomo forte in combattere, e per rialzar la gloria di sua nazione.	6 Therefore the women sang his praises and ascribed to him tens of thousands. When he assumed the royal crown, he battled
7 Così diede a lui la gloria di avere uccise dieci mila persone, e illustre il rendè colle sue benedizioni, e gli offerse corona di gloria:	7 and subdued the enemy on every side. He destroyed the hostile Philistines and shattered their power till our own day.
8 Perocché egli dappertutto conquise i nimici, e sterminò gli avversi Filistei fino al giorno d'oggi, egli fiaccò loro le corna in eterno.	8 With his every deed he offered thanks to God Most High, in words of praise. With his whole being he loved his Maker and daily had his praises sung;
9 In tutte le sue azioni egli diede gloria al Santo, e all'Eccelso con parole di somma laude:	9 He added beauty to the feasts and solemnized the seasons of each year With string music before the altar, providing sweet melody for the psalms
10 Con tutto il cuor suo celebrò il Signore, e amò il suo Creatore, il quale lo avea fatto forte contro i nemici:	10 So that when the Holy Name was praised, before daybreak the sanctuary would resound.
11 Egli collocò dinanzi all'altare i cantori, e a' loro canti diede dolce armonia.	11 The LORD forgave him his sins and exalted his strength forever; He conferred on him the rights of royalty and established his throne in Israel.
12 Aggiunse maestà alla celebrazione delle solennità, e sino al fine di sua vita diede ornamento a' tempi (sagri), facendo, che si lodasse il nome santo del Signore, e di gran mattino si celebrasse la santità di Dio.	12 Because of his merits he had as his successor a wise son, who lived in security:
13 Il Signore lo purificò da suoi peccati, ed esaltò in eterno la sua potenza, e a lui confermò il patto del regno, e il seggio di gloria in Israele.	13 SOLOMON reigned during an era of peace, for God made tranquil all his borders. He built a house to the name of God, and established a lasting sanctuary.
14 Dietro a lui suorse il figliuolo sapiente, e il Signore per amore del padre tenne abbattuta la potenza de' suoi nemici.	14 How wise you were when you were young, overflowing with instruction, like the Nile in flood!
15 Il regno di Salomone fu tempo di pace, e Dio rendette soggetti tutti i nemici, affinchè egli edificasse una casa al nome di lui, e preparasse un eterno santuario. Quanto fosti tu fornito di scienza nella tua giovinezza,	15 Your understanding covered the whole earth, and, like a sea, filled it with knowledge.
16 Tu fosti ripieno di sapienza qual fiume, l'anima tua riscoperse i segreti della terra.	16 Your fame reached distant coasts, and their peoples came to hear you;
17 E nelle parabole molti enimmi adunasti, il tuo nome si divulgò pelle isole rimote, e fosti amato nella tua pace.	17 With song and story and riddle, and with your answers, you astounded the nations.
18 Tutte le genti ammirarono i tuoi cantici, e i proverbi, e le parabole, e le interpretazioni;	18 You were called by that glorious name which was conferred upon Israel. Gold you gathered like so much iron, you heaped up silver as though it were lead;
19 E la protezione del Signore Dio, che Dio d'Israele si noma.	19 But you abandoned yourself to women and gave them dominion over your body.
20 Tu adunasti l'oro come il rame, e moltiplicasti l'argento come il piombo;	20 You brought dishonor upon your reputation, shame upon your marriage, Wrath upon your descendants, and groaning upon your domain;
21 Dipoi ti soggettasti alle donne, e avesti chi ebbe dominio sopra di te,	21 Thus two governments came into being, when in Ephraim kingship was usurped.
22 E contaminasti la tua gloria, e profanasti la tua stirpe, tirando addosso a' tuoi figliuoli la vendetta, e andando tanto avanti la tua stoltezza,	22 But God does not withdraw his mercy, nor permit even one of his promises to fail. He does not uproot the posterity of his chosen one, nor destroy the offspring of his friend. So he gave to Jacob a remnant, to David a root from his own family.
23 Che in due parti facesti dividere il regno, e da Ephraim cominciò un reame di ribelli.	23 Solomon finally slept with his fathers, and left behind him one of his sons, Expansive in folly, limited in sense, REHOBOAM, who by his policy made the people rebel; Until one arose who should not be remembered, the sinner who led Israel into sin, Who brought ruin to Ephraim
24 Ma Dio non manderà da parte la sua misericordia, e non guasterà, nè distruggerà le opere sue, e non schianterà dalle radici i nipoti dell'eletto, e non isterminerà la stirpe di lui, che amò il Signore.	24 and caused them to be exiled from their land. Their sinfulness grew more and more,
25 Ed egli ha lasciate delle, reliquie a Giacobbe, e a David della sua stirpe.	25 and they lent themselves to every evil,
26 E Salomone riposò co' padri suoi;
27 E lasciò dopo di se uno de' suoi figliuoli esempio di stoltezza alla sua nazione,
28 E privo di prudenza Roboamo, il quale co' suoi consigli alienò da se la nazione:
29 E (lasciò) Jeroboam figliuolo di Nabat, il quale indusse in peccato Israele, e la via di peccare mostrò ad Ephraim, e fu grandissima la piena de' loro peccati;
30 I quali li scacciarono dalia loro terra.
31 E (Israele) andò dietro a tutte le scelleraggini fina a tanto che cadde la vendetta sopra di essi, la quale pose fine a tutti i loro peccati.
