DOUAI-RHEIMSNEW JERUSALEM
And he made, of violet and purple, scarlet and fine linen, the vestments for Aaron to wear when he ministered in the holy places, as the Lord commanded Moses.1 From the violet-purple, red-purple and crimson materials, they made the liturgical vestments forservice in the sanctuary. They made the sacred vestments for Aaron, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
So he made an ephod of gold, violet, and purple, and scarlet twice dyed, and fine twisted linen.2 They made the ephod of gold, of violet-purple, red-purple and crimson materials and finely wovenlinen.
With embroidered work: and he cut thin plates of gold, and drew them small into threads, that they might be twisted with the woof of the aforesaid colours,3 They beat gold into thin plates and cut these into threads to work into the violet-purple, red-purple andcrimson materials and the fine linen by needlework.
And two borders coupled one to the other in the top on either side,4 For the ephod they made shoulder-straps which were joined to it at its two edges.
And a girdle of the same colours, as the Lord had commanded Moses.5 The waistband on the ephod to hold it in position, was of a piece with it and of the same workmanship:of gold, violet-purple, red-purple and finely woven linen, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
He prepared also two onyx stones, fast set and closed in gold, and graven by the art of a lapidary, with the names of the children of Israel:6 They worked the cornelians, mounted in gold setting, and engraved, like an engraved seal, with thenames of the sons of Israel,
And he set them in the sides of the ephod for a memorial of the children of Israel, as the Lord had commanded Moses.7 and put the stones on the shoulder-straps of the ephod, to commemorate the sons of Israel, asYahweh had ordered Moses.
He made also a rational with embroidered work, according to the work of the ephod, of gold, violet, purple, and scarlet twice dyed, and fine twisted linen,8 They made the breastplate of the same embroidered work as the ephod: of gold, violet-purple, red-purple and crimson materials and finely woven linen.
Foursquare, double, of the measure of a span.9 It was square and doubled over, a span in length and a span in width.
And he set four rows of precious stones in it. In the first row was a sardius, a topaz, and emerald.10 In it they set four rows of stones: a sard, a topaz and an emerald, for the first row;
In the second, a carbuncle, a sapphire, and a jasper.11 for the second row, a garnet, a sapphire and a diamond;
In the third, a ligurius, an agate, and an amethyst.12 for the third row, a hyacinth, a ruby and an amethyst;
In the fourth, a chrysolite, an onyx, and a beryl, set and enclosed in gold by their rows.13 and for the fourth row, a beryl, a cornelian and a jasper: mounted in gold settings,
And the twelve stones were engraved with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel, each one with its several name.14 the stones corresponding to the names of the sons of Israel, twelve like their names, engraved likeseals, each with the name of one of the twelve tribes.
They made also in the rational little chains linked one to another of the purest gold,15 For the breastplate they made chains of pure gold twisted like cords,
And two hooks, and as many rings of gold. And they set the rings on either side of the rational,16 and they made two gold rosettes and two gold rings, putting the two rings on the two outside edgesof the breastplate
On which rings the two golden chains should hang, which they put into the hooks that stood out in the corners of the ephod.17 and fastening the two gold cords to the two rings on the outside edges of the breastplate.
These both before and behind so answered one another, that the ephod and the rational were bound together,18 The other two ends of the cords they fastened to the two rosettes, putting these on the shoulder-straps of the ephod, on the front.
Being fastened to the girdle and strongly coupled with rings, which a violet fillet joined, lest they should flag loose, and be moved one from the other, as the Lord commanded Moses.19 They also made two gold rings and put them on the two outside edges of the breastplate, on theinner side, against the ephod;
They made also the tunick of the ephod all of violet,20 and they made two more gold rings and put them low down on the front of the two shoulder-straps ofthe ephod, close to the join, above the waistband of the ephod.
And a hole for the head in the upper part at the middle, and a woven border round about the hole:21 They secured the pectoral by a violet-purple cord passed through its rings and those of the ephod, sothat the pectoral would sit above the waistband and not come apart from the ephod, as Yahweh had orderedMoses.
And beneath at the feet pomegranates of violet, purple, scarlet, and fine twisted linen:22 They made the robe of the ephod woven entirely of violet-purple.
And little bells of the purest gold, which they put between the pomegranates at the bottom of the tunick round about:23 The opening in the centre of the robe was like the neck of a coat of mail; round the opening was aborder, so that it would not get torn.
To wit, a bell of gold, and a pomegranate, wherewith the high priest went adorned, when he discharged his ministry, as the Lord had commanded Moses.24 On the lower hem of the robe, they made pomegranates of violet-purple, red-purple and crimson andfinely woven linen,
They made also fine linen tunicks with woven work for Aaron and his sons:25 and made bells of pure gold, putting the bel s between the pomegranates al round the lower hem ofthe robe:
And mitres with their little crowns of fine linen:26 alternately, a bel and then a pomegranate, al round the lower hem of the robe of office, as Yahwehhad ordered Moses.
And linen breeches of fine linen:27 They made the tunics of finely woven linen for Aaron and his sons,
And a girdle of fine twisted linen, violet, purple, and scarlet twice dyed, of embroidery work, as the Lord had commanded Moses.28 the turban of fine linen, the head-dresses of fine linen, the breeches of finely woven linen,
They made also the plate of sacred veneration of the purest gold, and they wrote on it with the engraving of a lapidary, The Holy of the Lord:29 the waistbands of finely woven linen embroidered with violet-purple, red-purple and crimson, asYahweh had ordered Moses.
And they fastened it to the mitre with a violet fillet, as the Lord had commanded Moses.30 They also made the flower -- the symbol of holy consecration -- of pure gold and on it, like anengraved seal, they engraved, 'Consecrated to Yahweh'.
So all the work of the tabernacle and of the roof of the testimony was finished: and the children of Israel did all things which the Lord had commanded Moses.31 They put it on a violet-purple cord, to fasten it high up on the turban, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
And they offered the tabernacle and the roof and the whole furniture, the rings, the boards, the bars, the pillars, and their sockets,32 So all the work for the Dwelling, for the Tent of Meeting, was completed. They had done everythingexactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
The cover of rams' skins dyed red, and the other cover of violet skins,33 They then brought Moses the Dwel ing, the Tent and al its accessories: its clasps, frames, crossbars,poles and sockets;
The veil, the ark, the bars, the propitiatory,34 the cover of rams' skins dyed red, the cover of fine leather and the screening curtain;
The table, with the vessels thereof, and the loaves of proposition:35 the ark of the Testimony and its shafts, and the mercy-seat;
The candlestick, the lamps, and the furniture of them with the oil:36 the table, all its accessories and the loaves of permanent offering;
The altar of gold, and the ointment, and the incense of spices:37 the lamp-stand of pure gold, its lamps -- the array of lamps -- and all its accessories, and the oil forthe light;
And the hanging in the entry of the tabernacle:38 the golden altar, the anointing oil, the fragrant incense and the screen for the entrance to the tent;
The altar of brass, the grate, the bars, and all the vessels thereof: the laver with the foot thereof: the hangings of the court, and the pillars with their sockets:39 the bronze altar and its bronze grating, its shafts and all its accessories; the basin and its stand;
The hanging in the entry of the court, and the little cords, and the pins thereof. Nothing was wanting of the vessels, that were commanded to be made for the ministry of the tabernacle, and for the roof of the covenant.40 the curtaining for the court, its poles, its sockets, and the screen for the gateway to the court, itscords, its pegs and al the accessories for the service of the Dwel ing, for the Tent of Meeting;
The vestments also, which the priests, to wit, Aaron and his sons, used in the sanctuary,41 the liturgical vestments for officiating in the sanctuary -- the sacred vestments for Aaron the priest,and the vestments for his sons -- for the priestly functions.
The children of Israel offered as the Lord had commanded.42 The Israelites had done al the work exactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
And when Moses saw all things finished, he blessed them.43 Moses inspected all the work: they had indeed done it as Yahweh had ordered; and Moses blessedthem.
