1 Alors Moïse et les Israélites chantèrent ce chant à Yahvé: “Je chanterai Yahvé, il a fait éclater sa gloire, jetant à la mer cheval et cavalier.	1 Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and they said: “Let us sing to the Lord, for he has been gloriously magnified: the horse and the rider he has cast into the sea.
2 Yahvé est ma force, il est mon chant, il s’est fait mon libérateur. C’est lui mon Dieu, et je l’admire, il est le Dieu de mon père, à lui la louange.	2 The Lord is my strength and my praise, and he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I shall glorify him. He is the God of my father, and I shall exalt him.
3 Yahvé est un guerrier, Yahvé est son nom.	3 The Lord is like a fighting man. Almighty is his name.
4 Les chars du Pharaon et son armée, jetés à la mer! Les meilleurs de ses cavaliers, disparus dans la Mer des Roseaux!	4 The chariots of Pharaoh, and his army, he has cast into the sea; his elect leaders have been submerged in the Red Sea.
5 Les eaux de l’abîme les ont recouverts, comme des pierres ils ont coulé jusqu’au fond.	5 The abyss has covered them. They descended into the depths like a stone.
6 Yahvé! Tu as montré la force de ton bras, ta main droite, Yahvé, brise tes ennemis.	6 Your right hand, O Lord, has been magnified in strength. Your right hand, O Lord, has struck down the enemy.
7 Par la puissance de ta Gloire, tu disperses tes adversaires. Le feu de ta colère se lève et les dévore comme la paille.	7 And in the multitude of your glory you have put down your adversaries. You sent out your wrath, which devoured them like stubble.
8 Au souffle de tes narines, les eaux se rassemblent, les flots se dressent comme une muraille, le sol marin devient ferme au cœur de la mer.	8 And by the breath of your fury, the waters were gathered together. The flowing waves stood still. The abyss was gathered into the midst of the sea.
9 L’ennemi disait: “Je les poursuis, je les rejoindrai, j’aurai droit au butin et serai riche de leurs biens, je tirerai l’épée et les tuerai de ma main.”	9 The enemy said: ‘I will pursue and overtake them. I will divide the spoils. My soul will be filled. I will unsheathe my sword. My hand will put them to death.’
10 Mais toi, tu as envoyé ton souffle et la mer les a recouverts, comme du plomb ils se sont enfoncés dans les eaux majestueuses.	10 Your breath blew, and the sea covered them. They were submerged like lead into the mighty waters.
11 Qui est comme toi, Yahvé, parmi tous les dieux? Qui est comme toi, riche en sainteté, terrible en tes prodiges, toi qui fais des merveilles!	11 Who is like you in strength, O Lord? Who is like you: magnificent in sanctity, terrible and yet praiseworthy, accomplishing miracles?
12 Ton bras a frappé, la terre les a engloutis.	12 You extended your hand, and the earth devoured them.
13 Ta grâce conduit ce peuple que tu as sauvé, mène-le par ta puissance à ta sainte Demeure.	13 In your mercy, you have been a leader to the people whom you have redeemed. And in your strength, you have carried them to your holy dwelling place.
14 Les peuples entendent et ils tremblent, les habitants de la Philistie sont pris de peur.	14 Peoples rose up and became angry. Sorrows took hold of the inhabitants of Philistia.
15 Les chefs d’Édom sont effrayés, et les princes de Moab, terrifiés, les habitants de Canaan sont tous atterrés,	15 Then the leaders of Edom were stirred up, and trembling took hold of the robust of Moab. All the inhabitants of Canaan were petrified.
16 peur et terreur tombent sur eux! Devant la puissance de ton bras, ils sont devenus comme pierre, tandis que passe ton peuple, ô Yahvé, tandis que passe le peuple par toi racheté.	16 Let fear and dread fall upon them, by the magnitude of your arm. Let them become immobilized like stone, until your people cross through, O Lord, until this, your people whom you possess, cross through.
17 Tu les feras entrer, pour les y planter, sur la montagne de ton héritage, au lieu que tu as choisi pour y habiter, sanctuaire que tes mains ont préparé, Seigneur!	17 You shall lead them in and plant them, on the mountain of your inheritance, in your most firm dwelling place, which you have formed, O Lord, your sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have made firm.
18 Que Yahvé règne à tout jamais!”	18 The Lord will reign in eternity and beyond.
19 Quand les chevaux du Pharaon, ses chars et ses cavaliers furent entrés dans la mer, Yahvé fit revenir sur eux les eaux de la mer, mais les Israélites étaient passés à pied sec au milieu de la mer.	19 For the rider Pharaoh, with his chariots and horsemen, was brought into the sea. And the Lord brought back upon them the waters of the sea. But the sons of Israel walked across dry ground in its midst.”
20 Alors Miryam la prophétesse, la sœur d’Aaron, prit en main un tambourin et les femmes derrière elle sortirent avec leurs tambourins. En chœur,	20 And so Miriam, the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took up a timbrel in her hand. And all the women followed her with timbrels and dancing.
21 elles chantaient avec Miryam: “Chantez à Yahvé, car il s’est couvert de gloire, il a jeté à la mer cheval et cavalier.”	21 And she prophesied, saying: “Let us sing to the Lord, for he has been gloriously magnified. The horse and its rider, he has thrown into the sea.”
22 Moïse fit partir le peuple d’Israël de la mer des Roseaux et le conduisit vers le désert de Chour. Ils s’enfoncèrent trois jours dans le désert et ne trouvèrent pas d’eau.	22 Then Moses took Israel from the Red Sea, and they went forth into the desert of Shur. And they wandered for three days through the wilderness, and they found no water.
23 Ils arrivèrent à Mara, mais les eaux de Mara n’étaient pas bonnes à boire, car elle étaient amères. C’est d’ailleurs pour cela qu’on appela ce lieu “Mara” (c’est-à-dire Amertume).	23 And they arrived at Marah. They were unable to drink the waters of Marah because they were bitter. Therefore, he also established a name befitting the place, calling it ‘Marah,’ that is, bitterness.
24 Le peuple murmura contre Moïse, il disait: “Qu’allons-nous boire?”	24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying: “What shall we drink?”
25 Alors Moïse cria vers Yahvé et Yahvé lui montra un bois d’arbre; il le jeta dans l’eau et l’eau devint douce. Yahvé donna là à Israël une règle, et ses décisions. C’est là qu’il le mit à l’épreuve.	25 So he cried out to the Lord, who showed him a tree. And when he had cast it into the waters, they were turned into sweetness. In that place, he established instructions for him, and also judgments. And he tested him there,
26 Il lui dit: “Si tu écoutes la voix de Yahvé, ton Dieu, si tu fais ce qui est juste à ses yeux, si tu fais attention à ses ordres et que tu observes tous ses commandements, je ne te frapperai pas comme j’ai frappé l’Égypte, car je suis Yahvé qui te guéris.”	26 saying: “If you will listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in his sight, and obey his commands, and keep all his precepts, I will not bring upon you any of the distress that I imposed on Egypt. For I am the Lord, your healer.”
27 Puis ils arrivèrent à Élim, où il y a 12 sources et 70 palmiers, et ils campèrent au bord de l’eau.	27 Then the sons of Israel arrived in Elim, where there were twelve fountains of water and seventy palm trees. And they camped next to the waters.
