1 Israël partit donc avec tout ce qu’il possédait, et il arriva à Bersabée où il offrit des sacrifices au Dieu de son père Isaac.	1 And Israel taking his journey, with all that he had, came to the well of the oath, and killing victims there to the God of his father Isaac,
2 Durant la nuit, Dieu parla à Israël dans une vision: “Jacob! Jacob!” lui dit-il. Il répondit: “Me voici!”	2 He heard him by a vision in the night calling him, and saying to him: Jacob, Jacob. And he answered him: Lo, here I am.
3 Dieu lui dit: “Je suis le Dieu de ton père! Ne crains pas de descendre en Égypte, car je ferai de toi une grande nation.	3 God said to him: I am the most mighty God of thy father: fear not, go down into Egypt, for I will make a great nation of thee there.
4 Je descendrai avec toi en Égypte et je t’en ferai remonter. Et c’est Joseph qui te fermera les yeux.”	4 I will go down with thee thither, and will bring thee back again from thence: Joseph also shall put his hands upon thy eyes.
5 Jacob quitta donc Bersabée et les fils d’Israël transportèrent leur père Jacob avec leurs petits enfants et leurs femmes, sur les chariots que Pharaon avait envoyés pour les transporter.	5 And Jacob rose up from the well of the oath: and his sons took him up, with their children and wives in the wagons, which Pharao had sent to carry the old man,
6 Ils prirent leurs troupeaux et tout ce qu’ils avaient amassé au pays de Canaan, et c’est ainsi que Jacob et toute sa famille avec lui entrèrent en Égypte.	6 And all that he had in the land of Chanaan, and he came into Egypt with all his seed:
7 Il emmena toute sa descendance en Égypte: ses fils et ses filles avec tous leurs enfants.	7 His sons, and grandsons, daughters, and all his offspring together.
8 Voici les noms des fils d’Israël qui entrèrent en Égypte, c’est-à-dire Jacob et sa descendance: Premier-né de Jacob: Ruben.	8 And these are the names of the children of Israel, that entered into Egypt, he and his children. His firstborn Ruben,
9 Fils de Ruben: Hénok, Pallu, Hesron, Karmi.	9 The sons of Ruben: Henoch and Phallu, and Hesron and Charmi.
10 Fils de Siméon: Yémouel, Yamin, Ohad, Yakin, Sokar, et Chaoul, le fils de la Cananéenne.	10 The sons of Simeon: Jamuel and Jamin and Ahod, and Jachin and Sohar, and Saul the son of a woman of Chanaan.
11 Fils de Lévi: Guerchon, Kahat, Mérari.	11 The sons of Levi: Gerson and Caath and Merari.
12 Fils de Juda: Er, Onan, Chéla, Pérès et Zérah. Er et Onan moururent au pays de Canaan. Quant aux fils de Pérès, ce sont: Hesron et Hamoul.	12 The sons of Juda: Her and Onan and Sela and Phares and Zara. And Her and Onan died in the land of Chanaan. And sons were born to Phares: Hesron and Hamul.
13 Fils d’Issacar: Tola, Pouvva, Yachoub et Chimron.	13 The sons of Issachar: Thola and Phua and Job and Semron.

15 Voilà les fils que Léa donna à Jacob, à Paddân-Aram, ainsi que sa fille Dinah. Ses fils et ses filles étaient 33 personnes au total.	15 These are the sons of Lia, whom she bore in Mesopotamia of Syria, with Dins his daughter. All the souls of her sons and daughters, thirty-three.

21 Fils de Benjamin: Béla, Béker, Achbel, Guéra, Naaman, Ékhi, Roch, Moupim, Houpim et Ard.	21 The sons of Benjamin: Bela and Bechor and Asbel and Gera and Naaman and Echi and Ros and Mophim and Ophim and Ared.
22 Voilà les fils que Rachel donna à Jacob. Au total: 14 personnes.	22 These are the sons of Rachel, whom she bore to Jacob: all the souls, fourteen.
23 Fils de Dan: Houchim.	23 The sons of Dan: Husim.
24 Fils de Nephtali: Yakhséel, Gouni, Yéser et Chillem.	24 The sons of Nephtali: Jaziel and Guni and Jeser and Sallem.
25 Ce sont là les fils que Bila avait donnés à Jacob. Au total: 7 personnes. Bila était la servante que Laban avait donnée à sa fille Rachel.	25 These are the sons of Bala, whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter: and these she bore to Jacob: all the souls, seven.
26 Le total des personnes qui entrèrent en Égypte avec Jacob, tous de sa descendance, sans compter les femmes des fils de Jacob, était de 66. C’est le total des personnes.	26 All the souls that went with Jacob into Egypt, and that came out of his thigh, besides his sons' wives, sixty-six.
27 Quant aux fils que Joseph eut en Égypte, ils étaient deux; le total des personnes de la maison de Jacob qui s’installèrent en Égypte était donc de 70.	27 And the sons of Joseph, that were born to him in the land of Egypt, two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob, that entered into Egypt, were seventy.
28 Avant d’entrer dans le pays de Gossen, Jacob envoya devant lui Juda à la rencontre de Joseph pour le prévenir de son arrivée au pays de Gossen.	28 And he sent Juda before him to Joseph, to tell him; and that he should meet him in Gessen.
29 Joseph attela son char et partit à la rencontre d’Israël, son père, en Gossen. Il se présenta devant lui, se jeta à son cou et pleura longuement dans ses bras.	29 And when he was come thither, Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet his father, in the same place: and seeing him, he fell upon his neck, and embracing him wept.
30 Israël dit à Joseph: Maintenant je peux mourir, car j’ai revu ton visage et je sais que tu es en vie.”	30 And the father said to Joseph: Now shall I die with joy, because I have seen thy face, and leave thee alive.
31 Joseph dit à ses frères et à la famille de son père: “Je m’en vais avertir le Pharaon. Je lui dirai: Mes frères et la famille de mon père qui étaient en Canaan sont venus me rejoindre.	31 And Joseph said to his brethren, and to all his father's house: I will go up, and will tell Pharao, and will say to him: My brethren and my father's house, that were in the land of Chanaan, are come to me:
32 Ces hommes sont des bergers de petit bétail, ils sont éleveurs de troupeaux. Ils ont amené leur petit bétail et leur gros bétail, ainsi que tout ce qu’ils possédaient.	32 And the men are shepherds, and their occupation is to feed cattle: their flocks and herds, and all they have, they have brought with them.
33 Lorsque le Pharaon vous appellera et vous dira: Que faisiez-vous?	33 And when he shall call you, and shall say: What is your occupation?
34 vous répondrez: Tes serviteurs ont été éleveurs de bêtes depuis leur jeunesse jusqu’à ce jour. C’est ce que nous faisons, comme le faisaient nos pères.	34 You shall answer: We thy servants are shepherds, from our infancy until now, both we and our fathers. And this you shall say, that you may dwell in the land of Gessen, because the Egyptians have all shepherds in abomination.
35 Ainsi vous pourrez rester dans le pays de Gossen, car les bergers sont méprisés dans toute l’Égypte.”
