1 U Sinajskoj pustinji, u Šatoru sastanka, reče Jahve Mojsiju prvoga dana drugoga mjeseca, druge godine po izlasku iz zemlje egipatske:1 And the Lord spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the covenant, on the first day of the second month, in the year after their departure from Egypt, saying:
2 »Obavite popis sve zajednice izraelske po rodovima i porodicama, navodeći imena svih muškaraca, glavu po glavu.2 “Take a total of the entire assembly of the sons of Israel, by their families and houses, and the names of each one, of whomever is of the male sex,
3 Od dvadeset godina naviše, za borbu sposobne u Izraelu, ti i Aron pobilježite prema njihovim jedinicama.3 from twenty years and above, of all the able-bodied men out of Israel, and you shall number them by their companies, you and Aaron.
4 Neka s vama bude po jedan čovjek od svakoga plemena, glavari svoga pradjedovskog doma.4 And there shall be with you the leaders of the tribes, as well as of the houses, in their kinships,
5 Ovo su imena ljudi koji će vam pomagati: Elisur, sin Šedeurov, za pleme Rubenovo;5 the names of whom are these: of Ruben, Elizur the son of Shedeur;
6 Šelumiel, sin Surišadajev, za pleme Šimunovo;6 of Simeon, Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai;
7 Nahšon, sin Aminadabov, za pleme Judino;7 of Judah, Nahshon the son of Amminadab;
8 Netanel, sin Suarov, za pleme Jisakarovo;8 of Issachar, Nathanael the son of Zuar;
9 Eliab, sin Helonov, za pleme Zebulunovo.9 of Zebulon, Eliab the son of Helon.
10 Za Josipove sinove: Elišama, sin Amihudov, za pleme Efrajimovo; Gamliel, sin Pedahsurov, za pleme Manašeovo;10 And from the sons of Joseph: of Ephraim, Elishama the son of Ammihud; of Manasseh, Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur;
11 Abidan, sin Gidonijev, za pleme Benjaminovo;11 of Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gideoni;
12 Ahiezer, sin Amišadajev, za pleme Danovo;12 of Dan, Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai;
13 Pagiel, sin Okranov, za pleme Ašerovo;13 of Asher, Pagiel the son of Ochran;
14 Elijasaf, sin Deuelov, za pleme Gadovo;14 of Gad, Eliasaph the son of Reuel;
15 Ahira, sin Enanov, za pleme Naftalijevo.«15 of Naphtali, Ahira the son of Enan.”
16 To bijahu sazivači zajednice, knezovi pradjedovskih plemena i glavari rodova izraelskih.16 These are the very noble leaders of the multitude, by their tribes and kinships, and the heads of the army of Israel.
17 Mojsije i Aron onda uzmu one ljude što su po imenu bili određeni17 Moses and Aaron took these, with all the multitude of the common people,
18 te prvoga dana drugoga mjeseca sazovu svu zajednicu. Tada se u popis prema rodovima i porodicama po redu unosio broj osoba starijih od dvadeset godina.18 and they gathered them together on the first day of the second month, taking a census of them by kinships, and houses, and families, and heads, and the names of each one from twenty years and above,
19 Kako je Jahve naredio Mojsiju, tako ih je on pobilježio u Sinajskoj pustinji.19 just as the Lord had instructed Moses. And they were numbered in the desert of Sinai.
20 Kad se utvrdi potomstvo Rubena, Izraelova prvorođenca, prema njegovim rodovima i porodicama, pribilježiše, glavu po glavu, imena svih muškaraca od dvadeset godina naviše, svih za borbu sposobnih.20 Of Ruben, the firstborn of Israel, by their generations and families and houses, and the names of each head, of all who were of the male sex, from twenty years and above, capable of going to war,
21 Popisanih od Rubenova plemena bilo je četrdeset i šest tisuća i pet stotina.21 there were forty-six thousand five hundred.
22 Bili su popisani Šimunovi potomci prema njihovim rodovima i porodicama: pribilježiše se, glava po glava, imena svih muškaraca od dvadeset godina naviše, svih za borbu sposobnih.22 Of the sons of Simeon, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names and heads of each one, of all who were of the male sex, from twenty years and above, capable of going to war,
23 Popisanih od Šimunova plemena bilo je pedeset i devet tisuća i tri stotine.23 there were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.
24 Kad se utvrdi potomstvo sinova Gadovih prema njihovim rodovima i porodicama, pribilježiše se, glava po glava, imena onih od dvadeset godina i više, svih za borbu sposobnih.24 Of the sons of Gad, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who could go forth to war,
25 Popisanih od Gadova plemena bilo je četrdeset i pet tisuća i šest stotina i pedeset.25 there were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty.
26 Kad se utvrdi potomstvo sinova Judinih prema njihovim rodovima i porodicama, pribilježiše se, glava po glava, imena onih od dvadeset godina i više, svih za borbu sposobnih.26 Of the sons of Judah, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,
27 Popisanih od Judina plemena bilo je sedamdeset i četiri tisuće i šest stotina.27 there were counted seventy-four thousand six hundred.
28 Kad se utvrdi potomstvo sinova Jisakarovih prema njihovim rodovima i porodicama, pribilježiše se, glava po glava, imena onih od dvadeset godina i više, svih za borbu sposobnih.28 Of the sons of Issachar, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who could go forth to war,
29 Popisanih od Jisakarova plemena bilo je pedeset i četiri tisuće i četiri stotine.29 there were counted fifty-four thousand four hundred.
30 Kad se utvrdi potomstvo sinova Zebulunovih prema njihovim rodovima i porodicama, pribilježiše se, glava po glava, imena onih od dvadeset godina i više, svih za borbu sposobnih.30 Of the sons of Zebulon, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,
31 Popisanih od Zebulunova plemena bilo je pedeset i sedam tisuća i četiri stotine.31 there were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.
32 Josipovi sinovi: Kad se utvrdi potomstvo sinova Efrajimovih, prema njihovim rodovima i porodicama, pribilježiše se, glava po glava, imena onih od dvadeset godina i više, svih za borbu sposobnih.32 From the sons of Joseph, of the sons of Ephraim, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,
33 Popisanih od Efrajimova plemena bilo je četrdeset tisuća i pet stotina.33 there were forty thousand five hundred.
34 Kad se utvrdi potomstvo sinova Manašeovih, prema njihovim rodovima i porodicama, pribilježiše se, glava po glava, imena onih od dvadeset godina i više, svih za borbu sposobnih.34 Furthermore, of the sons of Manasseh, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,
35 Popisanih od Manašeova plemena bilo je trideset i dvije tisuće i dvjesta.35 there were thirty-two thousand two hundred.
36 Kad se utvrdi potomstvo sinova Benjaminovih, prema njihovim rodovima i porodicama, pribilježiše se, glava po glava, imena onih od dvadeset godina i više, svih za borbu sposobnih.36 Of the sons of Benjamin, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,
37 Popisanih od Benjaminova plemena bilo je trideset i pet tisuća i četiri stotine.37 there were thirty-five thousand four hundred.
38 Kad se utvrdi potomstvo sinova Danovih, prema njihovim rodovima i porodicama, pribilježiše se, glava po glava, imena onih od dvadeset godina i više, svih za borbu sposobnih.38 Of the sons of Dan, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,
39 Popisanih od Danova plemena bilo je šezdeset i dvije tisuće i sedam stotina.39 there were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.
40 Kad se utvrdi potomstvo sinova Ašerovih, prema njihovim rodovima i porodicama, pribilježiše se, glava po glava, imena onih od dvadeset godina i više, svih za borbu sposobnih.40 Of the sons of Asher, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,
41 Popisanih od Ašerova plemena bila je četrdeset i jedna tisuća i pet stotina.41 there were forty thousand and one thousand five hundred.
42 Kad se utvrdi potomstvo sinova Naftalijevih, prema njihovim rodovima i porodicama, pribilježiše se, glava po glava, imena onih od dvadeset godina i više, svih za borbu sposobnih.42 Of the sons of Naphtali, by their generations and families, and the houses of their kinships, having been counted by the names of each one, from twenty years and above, of all who were able to go forth to war,
43 Popisanih od Naftalijeva plemena bilo je pedeset i tri tisuće i četiri stotine.43 there were fifty-three thousand four hundred.
44 To su oni koje popisaše Mojsije i Aron sa dvanaest knezova izraelskih, po jedan na svaki pradjedovski dom.44 These are the ones who were numbered by Moses and Aaron and the twelve leaders of Israel, each one by the houses of their kinships.
45 Bili su popisani svi Izraelci, prema pradjedovskim domovima, od dvadeset godina i više, svi za borbu sposobni u Izraelu.45 And the entire number of the sons of Israel by their houses and families, from twenty years and above, who were able to go forth to war, were

47 Među te nisu se ubrojili Levijevci prema svojem pradjedovskom plemenu.47 But the Levites in the tribes of their families were not numbered with them.
48 Jahve je, naime, rekao Mojsiju:48 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
49 »Nipošto nemoj popisivati Levijeva plemena niti ga unosi u popis Izraelaca.49 “Do not number the tribe of Levi, neither shall you take a total of them with the sons of Israel.
50 Nego ti sam odredi Levijevce za službu u Prebivalištu svjedočanstva; za sav njegov namještaj i sve što na nj spada; neka oni nose Prebivalište i sav njegov namještaj; neka oni u njemu poslužuju i oko njega tabore.50 But appoint them over the tabernacle of the testimony, and all its vessels, and whatever pertains to the ceremonies. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its articles. And they shall be for the ministry, and they shall encamp all around the tabernacle.
51 Kad se Prebivalište mora premještati, neka ga Levijevci rastave; a kad se s Prebivalištem treba utaboriti, neka ga Levijevci opet podignu. Svjetovnjak koji bi mu se primakao neka se pogubi.51 When you would depart, the Levites shall take down the tabernacle. When you are to make camp, they shall set it up. Any outsider who will approach it shall be killed.
52 Neka Izraelci logoruju svatko u svome taboru; svatko kod svoje zastave, po četama.52 Now the sons of Israel shall make camp, each one by his companies and bands, as well as his army.
53 Levijevci neka borave oko Prebivališta svjedočanstva, da se gnjev ne obori na izraelsku zajednicu. Neka tako Levijevci stražu straže oko Prebivališta svjedočanstva.«53 Moreover, the Levites shall fix their tents all around the tabernacle, lest there be an indignation over the multitude of the sons of Israel. And they shall stand watch as guardians over the tabernacle of the testimony.”
54 Izraelci učine kako je Jahve Mojsiju naredio. U svemu tako urade.54 Therefore, the sons of Israel acted according to everything that the Lord had instructed Moses.
