1 Celebrate il Signore e invocate il suo nome, proclamate fra ì popoli le sue gesta.	1 Alleluia. Confess to the Lord, and invoke his name. Announce his works among the nations.
2 A lui cantate, a lui salmeggiate, raccontate tutte le sue maraviglie.	2 Sing to him, and sing psalms to him. Describe all his wonders.
3 Gloriatevi nel suo santo nome; gioisca il cuore di coloro che cercano il Signore.	3 Be praised in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
4 Cercate il Signore e confortatevi, cercate sempre la sua faccia.	4 Seek the Lord, and be confirmed. Seek his face always.
5 Ricordatevi delle maraviglie da lui fatte, dei suoi prodigi e dei giudizi usciti dalla sua bocca.	5 Remember his miracles, which he has done, his portents and the judgments of his mouth:
6 O prole del suo servo Àbramo, o figli del suo eletto Giacobbe,	6 you offspring of Abraham his servant, you sons of Jacob his elect.
7 Egli è il Signore Dio nostro, per tutta la terra han valore i suoi giudizi.	7 He is the Lord our God. His judgments are throughout the entire earth.
8 Si è sempre ricordato del suo patto, della sua parola da lui impegnata per mille generazioni,	8 He has remembered his covenant for all ages: the word that he entrusted to a thousand generations,
9 Della parola data ad Abramo, del suo giuramento fatto ad Isacco,	9 which he assigned to Abraham, and his oath to Isaac.
10 Giuramento da lui stabilito come legge a Giacobbe, quale eterno patto a Israele,	10 And he stationed the same for Jacob with a precept, and for Israel with an eternal testament,
11 Dicendo: « A te darò la terra di Canaan come porzione vostra ereditaria ».	11 saying: To you, I will give the land of Canaan, the allotment of your inheritance.
12 Sebbene fossero in piccol numero, pochissimi e stranieri nel paese,	12 Though they may have been but a small number, very few and foreigners there,
13 E passassero di nazione in nazione, da un regno, da un popolo all'altro,	13 and though they passed from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people,
14 Non permise a nessuno di far loro del male, e in favore di essi castigò dei re.	14 he allowed no man to harm them, and he reproved kings on their behalf.
15 Non toccate le persone a me consacrate, non malignate sui miei profeti ».	15 Do not be willing to touch my Christ, and do not be willing to malign my prophets.
16 Poi chiamò sulla terra la fame, tolse tutto il sostegno del pane.	16 And he called a famine upon the land, and he crushed every foundation of the bread.
17 Mandò avanti di loro un uomo: Giuseppe fu venduto come schiavo.	17 He sent a man before them: Joseph, who had been sold as a slave.
18 Strinsero nei ceppi i suoi piedi, le catene attraversarono la sua persona,	18 They humbled his feet in shackles; the iron pierced his soul,
19 Finché non si adempì la sua parola. La parola del Signore lo infiammò.	19 until his word arrived. The eloquence of the Lord inflamed him.
20 Il re mandò a scioglierlo, il Signore dei popoli lo fece liberare.	20 The king sent and released him; he was the ruler of the people, and he dismissed him.
21 Lo costituì padrone della sua casa, a capo di tutti i suoi beni,	21 He established him as master of his house and ruler of all his possessions,
22 Affinchè comunicasse la sua sapienza ai suoi principi e la sua prudenza ai suoi vegliardi.	22 so that he might instruct his princes as himself, and teach his elders prudence.
23 E Israele entrò in Egitto, Giacobbe fu pellegrino nella terra di Cam.	23 And Israel entered into Egypt, and Jacob became a sojourner in the land of Ham.
24 E (Dio) moltiplicò grandemente il suo popolo e lo rese più potente dei suoi nemici,	24 And he helped his people greatly, and he strengthened them over their enemies.
25 Dei quali volse il cuore ad odiare il suo popolo, a trattar perfidamente i suoi servi.	25 He turned their heart to hate his people, and to deal deceitfully with his servants.
26 Mandò il suo servo Mosè, Aronne, scelto da lui stesso.	26 He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, the one whom he chose.
27 Affidò loro la parola dei suoi miracoli, i prodigi da farsi nella terra di Cam.	27 He placed with them signs of his word, and portents in the land of Ham.
28 Mandò le tenebre e fece buio, e non rese vane le sue parole.	28 He sent darkness and made it conceal, and he did not afflict them with his speech.
29 Cangiò in sangue le loro acque e fece perire i loro pesci.	29 He turned their waters into blood, and he slaughtered their fish.
30 La loro terra brulicò di rane nelle stesse camere dei loro re.	30 Their land brought forth frogs, even in the inner chambers of their kings.
31 Ad una sua parola apparvero i tafani e le zanzare in tutto il loro paese.	31 He spoke, and there came forth common flies and gnats, in every region.
32 Mandò loro, invece di pioggia, la grandine e fiamme di fuoco nella loro terra,	32 He gave them a shower of hail and a burning fire, in the same land.
33 E colpì le loro vigne e i loro fichi, e fece in pezzi gli alberi delle loro contrade.	33 And he struck their vineyards and their fig trees, and he crushed the trees of their region.
34 Ad una sua parola vennero le locuste e bruchi senza numero,	34 He spoke, and the locust came forth, and the caterpillar, of which there was no number.
35 E divorarono ogni verdura del loro paese e divorarono ogni frutto delle loro contrade.	35 And it devoured all the grass in their land, and it consumed all the fruit of their land.
36 E colpì ogni primogenito della loro terra, le primizie d'ogni loro vigore.	36 And he struck all the first-born in their land, the first-fruits of all their labor.
37 E fece partire il suo popolo carico d'oro e d'argento, e nelle sue tribù non c'era un malato.	37 And he led them out with silver and gold, and there was not an infirm one among their tribes.
38 Si rallegrò l'Egitto per la loro partenza, perchè lo spavento d'Israele li opprimeva.	38 Egypt was joyful at their departure, for the fear of them lay heavy upon them.
39 Egli stese una nuvola a loro riparo e un fuoco perchè li illuminasse durante la notte.	39 He spread a cloud for their protection, and a fire, to give them light through the night.
40 A loro richiesta fece venire le quaglie e li saziò con pane del cielo.	40 They petitioned, and the quail came; and he satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41 Fendè la roccia e ne sgorgarono le acque, corsero come fiumi nel deserto.	41 He ruptured the rock and the waters flowed: rivers gushed in the dry land.
42 Ben ricordando la sua santa parola data ad Abramo suo servo,	42 For he had called to mind his holy word, which he kept near to his servant Abraham.
43 Condusse via il suo popolo festante, e i suoi eletti pieni di gioia,	43 And he led forth his people in exultation, and his elect in rejoicing.
44 E diede loro le terre delie genti, li fece padroni delle fatiche dei popoli,	44 And he gave them the regions of the Gentiles, and they possessed the labors of the peoples,
45 Affinchè osservino i suoi comandameli ti e mettano in pratica la sua legge.	45 so that they might observe his justifications, and inquire about his law.
