CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINGREEK BIBLE
And on the third day, a wedding was held in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.1 Και την τριτην ημεραν εγεινε γαμος εν Κανα της Γαλιλαιας, και ητο η μητηρ του Ιησου εκει.
Now Jesus was also invited to the wedding, with his disciples.2 Προσεκληθη δε και ο Ιησους και οι μαθηται αυτου εις τον γαμον.
And when the wine was failing, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”3 Και επειδη ελειψεν ο οινος, λεγει η μητηρ του Ιησου προς αυτον?
And Jesus said to her: “What is that to me and to you, woman? My hour has not yet arrived.”4 Λεγει προς αυτην ο Ιησους?
His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”5 Λεγει η μητηρ αυτου προς τους υπηρετας?
Now in that place, there were six stone water jars, for the purification ritual of the Jews, containing two or three measures each.6 Ησαν δε εκει υδριαι λιθιναι εξ κειμεναι κατα το εθος του καθαρισμου των Ιουδαιων, χωρουσαι εκαστη δυο η τρια μετρα.
Jesus said to them, “Fill the water jars with water.” And they filled them to the very top.7 Λεγει προς αυτους ο Ιησους?
And Jesus said to them, “Now draw from it, and carry it to the chief steward of the feast.” And they took it to him.8 Και λεγει προς αυτους?
Then, when the chief steward had tasted the water made into wine, since he did not know where it was from, for only the servants who had drawn the water knew, the chief steward called the groom,9 Καθως δε ο αρχιτρικλινος εγευθη το υδωρ εις οινον μεταβεβλημενον και δεν ηξευρε ποθεν ειναι, οι υπηρεται ομως ηξευρον οι αντλησαντες το υδωρ φωναζει τον νυμφιον ο αρχιτρικλινος
and he said to him: “Every man offers the good wine first, and then, when they have become inebriated, he offers what is worse. But you have kept the good wine until now.”10 και λεγει προς αυτον?
This was the beginning of the signs that Jesus accomplished in Cana of Galilee, and it manifested his glory, and his disciples believed in him.11 Ταυτην την αρχην των θαυματων εκαμεν ο Ιησους εν Κανα της Γαλιλαιας και εφανερωσε την δοξαν αυτου, και επιστευσαν εις αυτον οι μαθηται αυτου.
After this, he descended to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothers and his disciples, but they did not remain there for many days.12 Μετα τουτο κατεβη εις Καπερναουμ αυτος και η μητηρ αυτου και οι αδελφοι αυτου και οι μαθηται αυτου, και εκει εμειναν ουχ πολλας ημερας.
And the Passover of the Jews was near, and so Jesus ascended to Jerusalem.13 Επλησιαζε δε το πασχα των Ιουδαιων, και ανεβη εις Ιεροσολυμα ο Ιησους.
And he found, sitting in the temple, sellers of oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers.14 Και ευρεν εν τω ιερω, τους πωλουντας βοας και προβατα και περιστερας, και τους αργυραμοιβους καθημενους.
And when he had made something like a whip out of little cords, he drove them all out of the temple, including the sheep and the oxen. And he poured out the brass coins of the moneychangers, and he overturned their tables.15 Και ποιησας μαστιγα εκ σχοινιων, εδιωξε παντας εκ του ιερου και τα προβατα και τους βοας, και τα νομισματα των αργυραμοιβων εχυσε και τας τραπεζας ανετρεψε,
And to those who were selling doves, he said: “Take these things out of here, and do not make my Father’s house into a house of commerce.”16 και προς τους πωλουντας τας περιστερας ειπε?
And truly, his disciples were reminded that it is written: “Zeal for your house consumes me.”17 Τοτε ενεθυμηθησαν οι μαθηται αυτου οτι ειναι γεγραμμενον, Ο ζηλος του οικου σου με κατεφαγεν.
Then the Jews responded and said to him, “What sign can you show to us, that you may do these things?”18 Απεκριθησαν λοιπον οι Ιουδαιοι και ειπον προς αυτον? Τι σημειον δεικνυεις εις ημας, διοτι καμνεις ταυτα;
Jesus responded and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”19 Απεκριθη ο Ιησους και ειπε προς αυτους?
Then the Jews said, “This temple has been built up over forty-six years, and you will raise it up in three days?”20 Και οι Ιουδαιοι ειπον? Εις τεσσαρακοντα και εξ ετη ωκοδομηθη ο ναος ουτος, και συ θελεις εγειρει αυτον εις τρεις ημερας;
Yet he was speaking about the Temple of his body.21 Εκεινος ομως ελεγε περι του ναου του σωματος αυτου.
Therefore, when he had resurrected from the dead, his disciples were reminded that he had said this, and they believed in the Scriptures and in the word that Jesus had spoken.22 Οτε λοιπον ηγερθη εκ νεκρων, ενεθυμηθησαν οι μαθηται αυτου οτι τουτο ελεγε προς αυτους, και επιστευσαν εις την γραφην και εις τον λογον, τον οποιον ειπεν ο Ιησους.
Now while he was at Jerusalem during the Passover, on the day of the feast, many trusted in his name, seeing his signs that he was accomplishing.23 Και ενω ητο εν Ιεροσολυμοις κατα την εορτην του πασχα, πολλοι επιστευσαν εις το ονομα αυτου, βλεποντες αυτου τα θαυματα, τα οποια εκαμνεν.
But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he himself had knowledge of all persons,24 Αυτος δε ο Ιησους δεν ενεπιστευετο εις αυτους, διοτι εγνωριζε παντας,
and because he had no need of anyone to offer testimony about a man. For he knew what was within a man.25 και διοτι δεν ειχε χρειαν δια να μαρτυρηση τις περι του ανθρωπου?
