| 1 Vous êtes des fils pour Yahvé votre Dieu. Vous ne vous ferez pas d'incision ni de tonsure surle front pour un mort. | 1 "You are the sons of the LORD your God; you shall not cut yourselves or make any baldness on your foreheads for the dead. |
| 2 Car tu es un peuple consacré à Yahvé ton Dieu et Yahvé t'a choisi pour être son peuple à luiparmi tous les peuples qui sont sur la terre. | 2 For you are a people holy to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, out of all the peoples that are on the face of the earth. |
| 3 Tu ne mangeras rien de ce qui est abominable. | 3 "You shall not eat any abominable thing. |
| 4 Voici les animaux que vous pourrez manger: le boeuf, le mouton, la chèvre, | 4 These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat, |
| 5 le cerf, la gazelle, le daim, le bouquetin, l'antilope, l'oryx, le mouflon. | 5 the hart, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the mountain-sheep. |
| 6 Vous pourrez manger de tout animal qui a le sabot fourchu, fendu en deux ongles, et quirumine. | 6 Every animal that parts the hoof and has the hoof cloven in two, and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat. |
| 7 Toutefois, parmi les ruminants et parmi les animaux à sabot fourchu et fendu, vous nepourrez manger ceux-ci: le chameau, le lièvre et le daman, qui ruminent mais n'ont pas le sabot fourchu; vous lestiendrez pour impurs. | 7 Yet of those that chew the cud or have the hoof cloven you shall not eat these: the camel, the hare, and the rock badger, because they chew the cud but do not part the hoof, are unclean for you. |
| 8 Ni le porc, qui a bien le sabot fourchu et fendu mais qui ne rumine pas; vous le tiendrez pourimpur. Vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair et ne toucherez pas à leurs cadavres. | 8 And the swine, because it parts the hoof but does not chew the cud, is unclean for you. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch. |
| 9 Parmi tout ce qui vit dans l'eau, vous pourrez manger ceci: tout ce qui a nageoires et écailles,vous en pourrez manger. | 9 "Of all that are in the waters you may eat these: whatever has fins and scales you may eat. |
| 10 Mais vous ne mangerez point de ce qui n'a pas nageoires et écailles: vous le tiendrez pourimpur. | 10 And whatever does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you. |
| 11 Vous pourrez manger de tout oiseau pur, | 11 "You may eat all clean birds. |
| 12 mais voici ceux des oiseaux dont vous ne pourrez manger: le vautour-griffon, le gypaète,l'orfraie, | 12 But these are the ones which you shall not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey, |
| 13 le milan noir, les différentes espèces de milan rouge, | 13 the buzzard, the kite, after their kinds; |
| 14 toutes les espèces de corbeau, | 14 every raven after its kind; |
| 15 l'autruche, le chat-huant, la mouette et les différentes espèces d'épervier, | 15 the ostrich, the nighthawk, the sea gull, the hawk, after their kinds; |
| 16 le hibou, la chouette, l'ibis, | 16 the little owl and the great owl, the water hen |
| 17 le pélican, le vautour blanc, le cormoran, | 17 and the pelican, the carrion vulture and the cormorant, |
| 18 la cigogne et les différentes espèces de héron, la huppe, la chauve-souris. | 18 the stork, the heron, after their kinds; the hoopoe and the bat. |
| 19 Vous tiendrez toutes les bestioles ailées pour impures, vous n'en mangerez pas. | 19 And all winged insects are unclean for you; they shall not be eaten. |
| 20 Vous pourrez manger de tout volatile pur. | 20 All clean winged things you may eat. |
| 21 Vous ne pourrez manger aucune bête crevée. Tu la donneras à l'étranger qui réside chez toipour qu'il la mange, ou bien vends-la à un étranger du dehors. Tu es en effet un peuple consacré à Yahvé tonDieu. Tu ne feras pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère. | 21 "You shall not eat anything that dies of itself; you may give it to the alien who is within your towns, that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner; for you are a people holy to the LORD your God. "You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk. |
| 22 Chaque année, tu devras prendre la dîme de tout ce que tes semailles auront rapporté danstes champs | 22 "You shall tithe all the yield of your seed, which comes forth from the field year by year. |
| 23 et, en présence de Yahvé ton Dieu, au lieu qu'il aura choisi pour y faire habiter son nom, tumangeras la dîme de ton froment, de ton vin nouveau et de ton huile, les premiers-nés de ton gros et de ton petitbétail; ainsi tu apprendras à toujours craindre Yahvé ton Dieu. | 23 And before the LORD your God, in the place which he will choose, to make his name dwell there, you shall eat the tithe of your grain, of your wine, and of your oil, and the firstlings of your herd and flock; that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always. |
| 24 Si le chemin est trop long pour toi, si tu ne peux pas apporter la dîme parce que le lieuchoisi par Yahvé pour y faire habiter son nom est trop loin de chez toi, quand Yahvé ton Dieu t'aura béni | 24 And if the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to bring the tithe, when the LORD your God blesses you, because the place is too far from you, which the LORD your God chooses, to set his name there, |
| 25 tu la convertiras en argent, tu serreras l'argent dans ta main et tu iras au lieu choisi parYahvé ton Dieu; | 25 then you shall turn it into money, and bind up the money in your hand, and go to the place which the LORD your God chooses, |
| 26 là tu échangeras cet argent contre tout ce que tu désireras, gros ou petit bétail, vin ouboisson fermentée, tout ce dont tu auras envie. Tu mangeras là en présence de Yahvé ton Dieu et tu te réjouiras,toi et ta maison. | 26 and spend the money for whatever you desire, oxen, or sheep, or wine or strong drink, whatever your appetite craves; and you shall eat there before the LORD your God and rejoice, you and your household. |
| 27 Tu ne négligeras pas le lévite qui est dans tes portes, puisqu'il n'a ni part ni héritage avectoi. | 27 And you shall not forsake the Levite who is within your towns, for he has no portion or inheritance with you. |
| 28 Au bout de trois ans, tu prélèveras toutes les dîmes de tes récoltes de cette année-là et tu lesdéposeras à tes portes. | 28 "At the end of every three years you shall bring forth all the tithe of your produce in the same year, and lay it up within your towns; |
| 29 Viendront alors manger le lévite (puisqu'il n'a ni part ni héritage avec toi), l'étranger,l'orphelin et la veuve de ta ville, et ils s'en rassasieront. Ainsi Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira dans tous les travaux quetes mains pourront entreprendre. | 29 and the Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance with you, and the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your towns, shall come and eat and be filled; that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands that you do. |
