Deutéronome 14

JERUSALEM	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Vous êtes des fils pour Yahvé votre Dieu. Vous ne vous ferez pas d'incision ni de tonsure surle front pour un mort.	1 “Be sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves, nor make yourselves bald, because of the dead.
2 Car tu es un peuple consacré à Yahvé ton Dieu et Yahvé t'a choisi pour être son peuple à luiparmi tous les peuples qui sont sur la terre.	2 For you are a holy people, for the Lord your God. And he chose you, so that you may be a people particularly his, out of all the nations on earth.
3 Tu ne mangeras rien de ce qui est abominable.	3 You shall not eat the things that are unclean.
4 Voici les animaux que vous pourrez manger: le boeuf, le mouton, la chèvre,	4 These are the animals which you ought to eat: the ox, and the sheep, and the goat,
5 le cerf, la gazelle, le daim, le bouquetin, l'antilope, l'oryx, le mouflon.	5 the stag and the roe deer, the gazelle, the wild goat, the addax, the antelope, the giraffe.
6 Vous pourrez manger de tout animal qui a le sabot fourchu, fendu en deux ongles, et quirumine.	6 Every beast which has a hoof divided into two parts and which also chews the cud, you shall eat.
7 Toutefois, parmi les ruminants et parmi les animaux à sabot fourchu et fendu, vous nepourrez manger ceux-ci: le chameau, le lièvre et le daman, qui ruminent mais n'ont pas le sabot fourchu; vous lestiendrez pour impurs.	7 But those which chew over again, but do not have a divided hoof, you must not eat, such as the camel, the hare, and the hyrax. Since these chew the cud, but do not have a divided the hoof, they shall be unclean to you.
8 Ni le porc, qui a bien le sabot fourchu et fendu mais qui ne rumine pas; vous le tiendrez pourimpur. Vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair et ne toucherez pas à leurs cadavres.	8 The pig also, since it has a divided hoof, but does not chew over again, shall be unclean. Their flesh shall not be eaten, and you shall not touch their carcasses.
9 Parmi tout ce qui vit dans l'eau, vous pourrez manger ceci: tout ce qui a nageoires et écailles,vous en pourrez manger.	9 These you shall eat out of all that dwells in the waters: whatever has fins and scales, you shall eat.
10 Mais vous ne mangerez point de ce qui n'a pas nageoires et écailles: vous le tiendrez pourimpur.	10 Whatever is without fins and scales, you shall not eat, for these are unclean.
11 Vous pourrez manger de tout oiseau pur,	11 All the clean birds, you shall eat.
12 mais voici ceux des oiseaux dont vous ne pourrez manger: le vautour-griffon, le gypaète,l'orfraie,	12 You shall not eat those that are unclean: such as the eagle, and the griffin, and the osprey,
13 le milan noir, les différentes espèces de milan rouge,	13 the crane, and the vulture, and the kite, according to their kind,
14 toutes les espèces de corbeau,	14 and any kind of raven,
15 l'autruche, le chat-huant, la mouette et les différentes espèces d'épervier,	15 and the ostrich, and the owl, and the gull, and the hawk, according to their kind,
16 le hibou, la chouette, l'ibis,	16 the heron, and the swan, and the ibis,
17 le pélican, le vautour blanc, le cormoran,	17 and the sea bird, the marsh hen, and the night raven,
18 la cigogne et les différentes espèces de héron, la huppe, la chauve-souris.	18 the pelican and the plover, each in their kind, likewise the crested hoopoe and the bat.
19 Vous tiendrez toutes les bestioles ailées pour impures, vous n'en mangerez pas.	19 And anything which crawls and also has little wings shall be unclean, and shall not be eaten.
20 Vous pourrez manger de tout volatile pur.	20 All that is clean, you shall eat.
21 Vous ne pourrez manger aucune bête crevée. Tu la donneras à l'étranger qui réside chez toipour qu'il la mange, ou bien vends-la à un étranger du dehors. Tu es en effet un peuple consacré à Yahvé tonDieu. Tu ne feras pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.	21 But whatever has died of itself, you shall not eat from it. Give it to the sojourner, who is within your gates, so that he may eat, or sell it to him. For you are the holy people of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in the milk of his mother.
22 Chaque année, tu devras prendre la dîme de tout ce que tes semailles auront rapporté danstes champs	22 Each year, you shall separate the tithes out of all your crops which spring forth from the earth.
23 et, en présence de Yahvé ton Dieu, au lieu qu'il aura choisi pour y faire habiter son nom, tumangeras la dîme de ton froment, de ton vin nouveau et de ton huile, les premiers-nés de ton gros et de ton petitbétail; ainsi tu apprendras à toujours craindre Yahvé ton Dieu.	23 And you shall eat these in the sight of the Lord your God, in the place which he will choose, so that his name may be invoked there: the tenth part of your grain and wine and oil, and the firstborn from the herds and your sheep. So may you learn to fear the Lord your God at all times.
24 Si le chemin est trop long pour toi, si tu ne peux pas apporter la dîme parce que le lieuchoisi par Yahvé pour y faire habiter son nom est trop loin de chez toi, quand Yahvé ton Dieu t'aura béni	24 But when the way and the place which the Lord your God will have chosen is further away, and he will have blessed you, so that you are not able to carry all these things to it,
25 tu la convertiras en argent, tu serreras l'argent dans ta main et tu iras au lieu choisi parYahvé ton Dieu;	25 you shall sell them all, so as to turn them into money, and you shall carry it in your hand, and you shall set out for the place which the Lord will choose.
26 là tu échangeras cet argent contre tout ce que tu désireras, gros ou petit bétail, vin ouboisson fermentée, tout ce dont tu auras envie. Tu mangeras là en présence de Yahvé ton Dieu et tu te réjouiras,toi et ta maison.	26 And you shall buy with the same money whatever pleases you, either from the herds or from the sheep, and also wine and liquor, and all that your soul desires. And you shall eat in the sight of the Lord your God, and you shall feast: you and your household.
27 Tu ne négligeras pas le lévite qui est dans tes portes, puisqu'il n'a ni part ni héritage avectoi.	27 As for the Levite, who is within your gates, take care that you do not abandon him, for he has no other portion within your possession.
28 Au bout de trois ans, tu prélèveras toutes les dîmes de tes récoltes de cette année-là et tu lesdéposeras à tes portes.	28 In the third year, you shall separate another tenth part of all the things which spring forth for you at that time, and you shall store it within your gates.
29 Viendront alors manger le lévite (puisqu'il n'a ni part ni héritage avec toi), l'étranger,l'orphelin et la veuve de ta ville, et ils s'en rassasieront. Ainsi Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira dans tous les travaux quetes mains pourront entreprendre.	29 And the Levite, who has no other portion or possession with you, and the sojourner as well as the orphan and the widow who are within your gates, shall approach and eat and be satisfied, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works of your hands which you shall do.”
