1 Les chefs de famille du clan des fils de Galaad, fils de Makir, fils de Manassé, l'un des clans desfils de Joseph, se présentèrent. Ils prirent la parole en présence de Moïse et des princes, chefs de famille desIsraélites,	1 The heads of the ancestral houses in the clan of descendants of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh-one of the Josephite clans-came up and laid this plea before Moses and the priest Eleazar and before the princes who were the heads of the ancestral houses of the other Israelites.
2 et dirent: "Yahvé a ordonné à Monseigneur de donner le pays aux Israélites en le répartissant parle sort; et Monseigneur a reçu de Yahvé l'ordre de donner la part d'héritage de Celophehad, notre frère, à sesfilles.	2 They said: "The LORD commanded you, my lord, to apportion the land by lot among the Israelites; and you, my lord, were also commanded by the LORD to give the heritage of our kinsman Zelophehad to his daughters.
3 Or, si elles épousent un membre d'une autre tribu israélite, leur part sera retranchée de la part denos pères. La part de la tribu à laquelle elles vont appartenir sera augmentée, et la part que le sort nous a donnéesera réduite.	3 But if they marry into one of the other Israelite tribes, their heritage will be withdrawn from our ancestral heritage and will be added to that of the tribe into which they marry; thus the heritage that fell to us by lot will be diminished.
4 Et quand viendra le jubilé pour les Israélites, la part de ces femmes sera ajoutée à la part de latribu à laquelle elles vont appartenir, et elle sera retranchée de la part de notre tribu."	4 When the Israelites celebrate the jubilee year, the heritage of these women will be permanently added to that of the tribe into which they marry and will be withdrawn from that of our ancestral tribe."
5 Moïse, sur l'ordre de Yahvé, donna cet ordre aux Israélites. Il dit: "La tribu des fils de Joseph aparlé juste.	5 So Moses gave this regulation to the Israelites according to the instructions of the LORD: "The tribe of the Josephites are right in what they say.
6 Voici ce que Yahvé ordonne pour les filles de Celophehad: Elles épouseront qui bon leursemblera, pourvu qu'elles se marient dans un clan de la tribu de leur père.	6 This is what the LORD commands with regard to the daughters of Zelophehad: They may marry anyone they please, provided they marry into a clan of their ancestral tribe,
7 La part des Israélites ne passera pas de tribu à tribu; les Israélites resteront attachés chacun à lapart de sa tribu.	7 so that no heritage of the Israelites will pass from one tribe to another, but all the Israelites will retain their own ancestral heritage.
8 Toute fille qui possède une part dans l'une des tribus Israélites devra se marier dans un clan de satribu paternelle, de sorte que les Israélites conservent chacun la part de son père.	8 Therefore, every daughter who inherits property in any of the Israelite tribes shall marry someone belonging to a clan of her own ancestral tribe, in order that all the Israelites may remain in possession of their own ancestral heritage.
9 Une part ne pourra être transférée d'une tribu à l'autre: chacune des tribus des Israélites resteraattachée à sa part."	9 Thus, no heritage can pass from one tribe to another, but all the Israelite tribes will retain their own ancestral heritage."
10 Les filles de Celophehad firent comme Yahvé l'avait ordonné à Moïse.	10 The daughters of Zelophehad obeyed the command which the LORD had given to Moses.
11 Mahla, Tirça, Hogla, Milka et Noa, filles de Celophehad, épousèrent les fils de leurs onclespaternels.	11 Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah and Noah, Zelophehad's daughters, married relatives on their father's side
12 Comme elles s'étaient mariées dans des clans des fils de Manassé, fils de Joseph, c'est à la tribudu clan de leur père que revint leur part.	12 within the clans of the descendants of Manasseh, son of Joseph; hence their heritage remained in the tribe of their father's clan.
13 Tels sont les commandements et les lois que Yahvé prescrivit aux Israélites, par l'intermédiairede Moïse, dans les Steppes de Moab, près du Jourdain, vers Jéricho.	13 These are the commandments and decisions which the LORD prescribed for the Israelites through Moses, on the plains of Moab beside the Jericho stretch of the Jordan.
